ONE FC Unveils Network; 'Very Close' to Deal With DREAM

DREAM Lightweight Champion, Shinya Aoki attended ONE FC's debut event to support his teammates at Evolve MMA. Will we see him in a future fight for the promotion as well? -- Photo by Anton Tabuena

As reported here earlier, ONE FC has partnerships with a few top promotions around Asia such as the URCC, Road FC, and DARE. Today, the promotion officially announced these deals in addition to a partnership with an Australian MMA promotion. From the press release:

ONE Fighting Championship™ has formed exclusive partnerships with the following organizations:
-URCC (Philippines)
-Cage Fighting Championship (Australia)
-ROAD Fighting Championship (Korea)
-DARE Fightsports (Thailand)

They also announced partnerships with several of the top MMA camps in the region: Team Lakay Wushu (Philippines), Tiger Muay Thai (Thailand), Tigers Gym (India), Evolve MMA (Singapore), Legacy Gym (Thailand), Tough MMA (Taiwan), Synergy Jiu-Jitsu (Indonesia), Juggernaut FC (Singapore), Fightworks Asia (Singapore), PAK MMA (Pakistan), Team Force (Korea), MuayFit (Malaysia), Leverage MMA (Malaysia).

Aside from that laundry list of camps and promotions, the release also had this interesting statement from their CEO, Victor Cui, "Given our current discussions with various parties, we will be announcing another 23 additional MMA organizations and gyms to the ONE FC Network in the coming days and weeks."

BloodyElbow.com has been informed that among those deals in the works, is a partnership with Japanese promotion, DREAM. A high ranking official from the promotion has told us that ONE FC is currently in discussions with a few organizations from Japan, and that the deal with DREAM is 'very close' to being finalized.

If it pushes through, it would be a great help for both organizations, and it could definitely lead to more quality match ups in the region. As always, stay tuned to Bloody Elbow as we give you more details on the situation as they become available.

I know it's probably not going to happen, but

I really wish PXC and Legend FC would be included in those partnerships. I would put an end to all the “rivalry” stuff, and would mean more MMA for everyone. haha.

It’s like Sengoku, except they actually went ahead and got TV deals ahead of time that give the shows an actual chance of success!

if you see the original press release it says they are talking to promotions (plural) in Japan, so it might not just be dream.

i think that is the idea but its a two way street, the next road fc card has two One FC fighters on it, {Brian Choi and Vuyisile Colossa) so the smaller promotions benefit too.

On a side note Colossa vs Yui Chul Nam is gonna be awesome!

Anton,

my asian MMA market knowledge is limited at best, but i have a question if you don’t mind. are any of these camps training “UFC” quality fighters right now? (i’d love to keep an eye on them) also, does One FC’s camp contracts mean that fighters from those camps can not fight for another promotion linked to the One FC banner like BAMMA?

Not sure about their contracts, but yeah,

some of these fighters are the best in Asia, and there will be some that can be UFC-level I think.

Camps in general keep an eye out for: Lakay Wushu (Folayang, Belingon, Docyogen, etc), Evolve MMA (who already has Dos Anjos, and Aoki on their team, but keep an eye out for their up and coming guys like Zorobabel Moreira, who’s a BJJ world champion and a 6’3 lightweight), and Tiger Muay Thai too.

thank you much brother.

besides Folayang i was pretty ignorant to most of these fighters.
i guess the fact that Dos Anjos fights for one of these teams answers the question about exclusivity. thanks for the turn around and i look foward to educating myself on some of these fighters.

I suppose JMMA...or rather AMMA is NOT dead.

Dream is really the only promotion that will give them access to any top 25ers…but either way…these are the kind of moves that need to be made to sort of create a support system in general.

Let’s just hope they aren’t over-extending themselves…Dream has a habit of not paying fighters and whatnot…I would hate to see any dealings with them leading to those type of troubles passing over to OneFC.

still no update, but they say some time on 2012.

I think they were supposed to release a bit of news during Jon Jones’ visit here, but that got cancelled…

Great stuff here Anton. I go to other MMA sites, and they don’t report this stuff. Things like Viacom buying Bellator are being reported, and for good reason, but it seems that OneFC is making some moves that besides being reported by you Anton, are generally flying under the radar.

Viacom buying Bellator is much much much bigger than this.

So yeah, that’s pretty understandable. But a lot of websites did report about the press release they sent out about the partnership. Not much about the DREAM deal though, except for Sherdog and MMA Nation I think.

I agree with you Anton

though I’m leery of partnerships in sports lie this since everyone wants their money and agreements crumble. It would be nice is some entity could come in and form relationships with the fighters/camps, organizations and even countries and buy/merge all the mainland Asian and Japanese MMA orgs and have one solid, top notch organization with some of the top talent in the world….now how do you do this and not let any corruption creep in and ruin Asian MMA as it has in the past?

by Troop on Oct 27, 2011 12:34 PM EDT reply actions

Probably a goofy question for you Anton,

but how do you keep track of and remember all of these fighters, gyms, promotions, etc? I’d LOVE to get into the Filipino/Chinese MMA scene but outside of the biggies like Folayang and Laursen, I can’t keep tabs on any others.
