For Werdum to really “finish” that, he has to get Vinny’s thumb pointing up. Try holding your arm out like you’re in an armbar and point your thumb up. You’ll see how that creates a fulcrum point at the elbow that will bend the arm the wrong way. Perfect for an armbar. Now switch to the thumb pointing out or down, and imagine someone trying to finish an armbar.

Vinny has some amazing level Jiu Jitsu skills. He did well to win this, not only because Werdum is world class, but he must have been about 30-40lb heavier than Vinny.
