I think Frankie is getting respect now, and post-fight buzz is a silly way of positing that he isn't
The first thing fans ponder after a fight is what’s next. We don’t know who Edgar is going to fight, and even if we did, it wouldn’t involve the P4P #1.
It doesn’t matter how good Edgar was. Chael took smacktalking the P4P #1 to a level we’ve never seen before, and we all witnessed him pounding Silva in a losing effort in the FOTY of 2010.
You can’t design a better fight buildup than that, so naturally all the discussion will go in that direction.
Jumping to conclusions a bit I think
I will admit not being convinced by Edgar in the past, but he well and truly won me over the other night. I doubt I’m alone.

to me it was more like what was wrong with maynard
he looked lost after the first round. he didn’t even go crazy in the first round like the second fight. where did all his energy go to? after pounding on edgar again in the first and couldn’t finish him again. did that have had him losing heart and throwing off his mental game for the rest of the fight who knows. he looked slower round after round i think it was a bad weight cut maybe
I don't think anyone is slighting Edgar. But Chael deserves some serious props too.
Miller, Okami, Marquart, put a 4 and a half round beating on Silva, and Stann, while looking dominate as hell. Yeah Chael doesn’t deserve any props cause he is good at talking shit….SMH
I don't get it
People complain that there are no more charachters or memorable fighters in ufc anymore, now that we have sonnen no one likes it. I dunno lol. It brings more attention to the sport, people love drama just check the ratings for jersey shore and other reality shows.
The same reason pekple are tallking about Gil instead of Frankie.

Sonnen was more impressive than Edgar at 136
What’s more impressive? A guy that can work over a top contender with little resistance…. Or a guy who gets destroyed by a top contender, but manages to fight back for the win.
Edgar proved he has heart, that’s for sure. But the very best P4P fighters in the world don’t necessarily need to take the beating he did to win. I would be higher up on Edgar if he had outclassed Maynard from the start of round 1…. rather than coming from behind.
I can almost give Grey Maynard as much credit as Frankie Edgar for the win. He gave the second round away, and the fight as whole in the process.

Sonnens' opponent was less impressive than Edgars to begin with...both before and during the fight.
overall… I dont think it was a big deal that sonnen beat Stann.
