Today on "MMA Nation" we're going to be talking about UFC 126, the new Strikeforce heavyweight tournament and will be sitting down with two special guests.
First, Anthony Pettis, owner of the "Showtime" Kick, will talk to us about his future in the UFC, his thoughts on Gray Maynard vs Frankie Edgar at UFC 125 and who he'd like to fight next.
We'll also talk with perennial top middleweight contender Nate Marquardt as he fills in for the "frozen" Chael Sonnen against Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 128 later in February. We'll talk to him about why he took this fight, his plan for Akiyama and his thoughts on the future of Sonnen in the UFC.
And, of course, we'll also be taking all of YOUR calls. It's toll free anywhere in North America, so don't be shy.
"MMA Nation" will air tonight 9:00 p.m. ET to 11:00 p.m. ET on 106.7 The Fan. To listen live over the Internet, go to The Fan's website and click "Listen Live".

Talk to you then.

Please
Ask Pettis if he was indeed given the option to either wait for the winner of Edgar/Maynard 3 or to stay in action.

Please
Ask Nate his feelings in regards to having a loss to Chael on his record, when Chael was illegally using PED’s. Does he feel the loss should be overturned, or turned into a NC?
He made a comment during his hearing as to the length of his taking the PED’s. He said that he had thought it was approved because he talked to George Dodd of the CSAC before his fight with Yushin Okami. So he was taking steroids for the Yushin Okami fight, the Nate Marquardt fight and the Anderson Silva.
Ask Nate who he feel's is sexier..
between him and Akiyama.
"I guess I'm 13-Maynard, and Maynard..."- Frankie Edgar
for a trick question ask him who is sexier
Yoshihiro Akiyama or Matt Brown

If you're gonna play dem beats for the show, you gotta at least do us the courtesy of saying what they are

Overeem fought Ricardo Arona, who’s a superb wrestler.
"Everytime I start talking about boxing, a white man gotta pull Rocky Marciano out of their ass!"
beat me to it.

He's an ok wrestler
Not by any means superb. And Overeem lost, anyway.
Follow me on Twitter: @MMANation.
You couldn’t think of a guy Overeem had fought who was a wrestler. Arona is a pure wrestler if anything.
And yes, Overeem lost in a very sad way.
"Everytime I start talking about boxing, a white man gotta pull Rocky Marciano out of their ass!"
No, Arona’s a BJJ guy. He was good at taking down PRIDE guys who couldn’t wrestle. He’s not like Shields who’s a great wrestler with BJJ.
Arona is a wrestler through and through. Dude hardly ever subbed anyone in MMA and subbed NO ONE in ADCC. He’s a wrestler who wins on positional dominance.
"Everytime I start talking about boxing, a white man gotta pull Rocky Marciano out of their ass!"
Well when you put it that way, I kinda see your point. Still, I can’t call him a superb wrestler if he has trouble taking down Shogun and Wanderlei.
He took down Shogun but was swept. He took Wanderlei down and kept him down in their first fight. Wanderlei was on his back virtually that entire fight. Arona looked like garbage in their rematch though.
"Everytime I start talking about boxing, a white man gotta pull Rocky Marciano out of their ass!"
Video is good

Jedi Mind Tricks is real hit or miss.
Vinnie Paz is limited, but good within the confines of what he does. Jus Allah forgot how to rhyme when he left the group and his return saddened me.
Some of the rappers in Army of the Pharaohs are damn good though. Apathy lived nearby me in Connecticut, dude is creative.

I always confuse Apathy with Celph Titled. Heard they can put on a show. Gotta pick up his new album w/ Buckwild
They made a video game about Yakuzas. It’s called Yakuza. And it’s about Yakuza
Celph is pretty good.
He comes up with some funny lyrics and seems to have made himself a nice amount of money for the underground rap game. Apathy is definitely on some whole other shit from Celph though, no matter how much they’ve worked together. That said, I’ve listened to some of the album Celph did with Buckwild and it wasn’t bad. I would need to give it a full listen before really saying anything huge either way though.

I've said this on Facebook and Twitter but
RIP Major Richard “Dick” Winters.
He was a legitimate hero and warrior which makes calling fighters “wars” bullshit.

Yeah it's heavy to me
And the fact they had interviews with the soldiers before each episode really drove it home.

Man, that shit was crazy on a number of levels.
The interview portion was particularly so for me also. I couldn’t help but think about the fact that these guys had survived this insane shit, lived on and gone through all the sorts of things that folks go through in a full life, and there they were in the twilight of it recounting the war.

Ask Pettis who he’s picking in the Strikeforce tournament.
by John Nash on Jan 9, 2011 9:33 PM EST via mobile reply actions
Overeem has done a superb job inflating his value by essentially fighting guys who are not appropriate for the skill level he projects. K-1 title aside, The Reem is all smoke and mirrors. And horsemeat. Tons of horsemeat.

I’m all in for the Old School but for me, I need to return to the underground. When Rawkus went under (har har har) so did I. I’m just now catching up w/ Duck Down. Rhymesayers and Stones Throw haven’t put out anything for awhile. So bring on the “brother music” cause that what brings out ALL the white people at 9:30 Club.

Sonnen is not done. By any means. He hasn’t killed any dogs. He’s entertaining. You know who’s not entertaining? Most of the UFC champs. He’s a heel, with some legit talent. People are fucked up and they will empathize with this guy.

You have to remember that a lot of these guys take a lot of low blows in training and in fights. Damage to the testicles can cause low testosterone.
"Everytime I start talking about boxing, a white man gotta pull Rocky Marciano out of their ass!"
Even if you take 2 shots per fight
With every fight within 4-6 months, over a span of say 10 years, it is highly unlikely that the testosterone level would be below 300ng/dL solely because of nutcrackers.

by MrTechnique420 on Jan 9, 2011 10:33 PM EST up reply actions
It has to do with damage to the testicles. Take one shot the wrong way, and you can have enough damage to seriously effect your testosterone levels.
"Everytime I start talking about boxing, a white man gotta pull Rocky Marciano out of their ass!"
It all make sense now.

Vitor can put Silva down, no dount. Will he? He’s a deity in Brazil, this would be huge. And I hope Machida retires Randy so bad he gives up acting.

Vitor is a really under rated top positional grappler with sick ground and pound. He could take down Anderson and pound him out in short order. But will he? I kinda doubt it.
"Everytime I start talking about boxing, a white man gotta pull Rocky Marciano out of their ass!"
Vitor can be broken mentally, but his skillset is so ripe right now. It’s a great fight for sure.
