GET MONEY

I got money in the bank

shawty what you drank.
I got money in the bank.

How come he gets so much money? Chris leben has been in the UFC longer and should have a better contract. Thiago’s never fought for a title or done anything that i can think of to have such a higher payday than the rest (including the champion).

im guessing if you do the marketing research and blah blah blah, it may be that thiago silva provides more bang for the buck when it comes to the bottom line, im just guessing though

I see what you did there

salaries are determined by popularity, not skill and ranking

by zuffazombie on Jan 3, 2011 1:42 PM EST up reply actions

Frankie Edgar would not be making 51k/51k if it was based on popularity. It’s a combination of both.

But

Do you see the kind of theatrics he does during and after fights

I think salaries also tend to inch up as you go higher in weight class

because the heavier weights tend to do better business.

I wonder if it is because of last year's new years card?

I heard rumor that he was hurting but the UFC really wanted him to face Evans anyway due to the rash of injuries. Maybe he got a salary bump because of it? Then again I didn’t hear anything about his contract expiring so I don’t know if that explains it.

by MemphisMike on Jan 3, 2011 1:53 PM EST up reply actions

He had a major back injury that should’ve caused him to drop out of the fight with Evans, but he did the UFC a major solid and went through with the fight anyway.

I dunno if that’s why he makes so much money, but it’s probably why he got Vera as a comeback fight instead of being fed to Jones/Davis.

by Verklemptomaniac on Jan 3, 2011 2:04 PM EST up reply actions

I read somewhere he had 4 herniated discs. Not so sure about that though. But I love Thiago Silva, plus I was looking at him he seems to be fucking huge. Would like to see him in comparison to Forrest(which would be an awesome fight) and some other big 205ers.

What’s hard to understand here? Thiago Silva got 55,000 because he lost at 108 and now at 125 he got 110,000 because won. So he has a contract that is 55k to show, 55 to win.

by bigdmmafan on Jan 3, 2011 2:23 PM EST up reply actions

Shows the benefits

of being able to win consistently and put on a show at the same time.

OHHHHH! OH MY GOODNESS DID YOU SEE THAT?! He ran up the wall like a ninja and landed a high kick! Unbelievable! I've never seen anything like that, it's like something out of a movie!

i know they get more for sponsorships and what not

but i’m surprised guida’s base pay is that low, considering the following he seems to have.

brown and silva must have good managers though. maybe the same through ATT?

Will Antonio McKee get another fight?

Or will the UFC simply say ’eff it.

Excuse my emotional, reactionary, fanatic output but Pettis will be the next UFC lightweight champion. Period.

Cut him

When a guy talks that high of himself, and can’t even win his first fight, there’s no redeeming him. Bring him back so he can try to eke out a lay and pray on the undercard, then blame racism for not being on the main show? Dana will pass.

The other thing is that while Volkmann is on a bit of a streak, he isn’t any higher than a mid-level Lightweight, and some may even rank him as a lower-level UFC Lightweight. I heard that the fight wasn’t very exciting either. If McKee can’t beat someone the caliber of Volkmann, then I can’t imagine him beating some of the higher caliber UFC Lightweights. However, if he gets a non-wrestler, I can see McKee winning but there aren’t too many of those in the UFC Lightweight division.

I won't jump off the bandwagon just because you lost.

People who say shit like this obviously have no idea about the principles this country was founded up. This country was founded upon the rights of the populace to criticize and in extreme conditions, overthrow, their government.

The founding fathers would roll over in their graves if they heard this kind of thing.

Look at Dustin's poverty line pay

$4000 per fight, or $8000 if he wins

I suppose someone in his position can collect unemployment benefits if he doesn’t win enough money?

He made thousands in undeclared sponsorship feees revenues plus the UFC often hands out bonus’s of up to $100,000 for a good performance (Hell GSP got $500,000 and a Hummer for the second Hughes fight)

Relative to other professional sports, fighters deserve millions for the amount of pain, agony, energy and injury that they put into professional MMA.
