You couldn’t come to the fight in shape could you Timmah? No way that happens if he’s less then three bills.
It also proves that Tim's not ready for the UFC.
Not that Dana and Co. would have signed him anyway – their simmering hatred for that man is borderline scary.

I was saying in other posts that the UFC should sign Sylvia back and use him as a gatekeeper. Now, I am stuffing my face with crow.
I won't jump off the bandwagon just because you lost.

Huh? What’s the story behind this?

I said the same thing
Based on the crazy notion that he had learned his lesson from the Mercer fight about what happens when you don’t put in the effort before a fight.
Oh well.

You know I thought he would of of learned his dam lesson about what happens when you come into a fight Grossly Overweight. Well after last night I guess he didn’t. I don’t feel the least bit bad for Tim at all. He has no one to blame but himself becasue when you are lazy and don’t train and get totaly out of shape becasue you are taking you opponent lightly well you deserve to loose and look like a total ass in the process.
I just think Tim like in the Mecer fight counted that W on his record before the fight even happend ? Becasue I just can’t see how a prize fighter could have a excuse other then that for being that out of shape and soft coming into a fight.
not only was he not in shape
but it looks like he didn’t respect Abe at all, he didn’t have his hands up and chin down…he looked like a rookie. He honestly didn’t even look like he warmed up. Sad to say (and see), but he should probably stick to pro wrestling.
Who's the only one here who knows illegal ninja moves from the government?
i was thinking the same thing
The first thing I noticed was the lack of respect Timmah had for, his opponent, his self, his employer and his fans. Timmah should just do WWE and call it a career with MMA. His ego, pride and ignorance are writing checks his big old ass cant cash anymore.
If Russia attacked Turkey from the rear, Do you think Greece would help?
That's the thing really
It’s one thing to “relax” in your training but he clearly didn’t think Wagner had anything for him and took for granted the fact that he could walk through him.
Swing and a miss Timmah, swing and a miss. You can kiss any shot at any sort of legitimate promotion away now. Maybe he can get a freakshow fight but he’s done as a legitimate heavyweight now.
He certainly hurt him with that right in the begging Sucks for Timmah

While I'm not sure how many of the preceding shots actually connected before the knockdown
Sylvia lost his composure when the opponent got inside his jab range.
Sadly, I’m reminded of what happened vs. Fedor.

Good stoppage
"Dawson was NOT a hype job. Dude schooled Adamek, beat Tarver twice (neither competitive), beat Johnson twice (once close, once a wipeout) and even beat Harding when Harding was still good. That is not hype. Those are results. I love how people see a guy lose once and all of a sudden nothing they ever did means anything. You are dead wrong."
- Dan Rafael
Indeed.
There is as much reason to bitch about that stoppage as there was about the Tyson Griffin v. Gomi stoppage.

no.
Tim was rocked when he went for a takedown so the big man fell down.
Griffin on the other hand was hit with a HUGE shot that put his lights out before he even hit the ground…Griffin just woke up moments after his face hit the canvas.
that’s just a bad comparison dude.

It took Sylvia ages to get back to his feet after the call, and he was eating punches the entire time – calling that last struggle a takedown attempt is like saying that unicorns look like bowls of clam chowder.

This it true, but how much of this was because he is fat and slow. He got up like a 300+ pounder.

Well, that's a different problem altogether.
If Sylvia hadn’t started a training regime consisting solely of eating deep-fried sugar donuts, maybe he could’ve popped back up to his feet and prevented an “early” stoppage.

tim looked fat...
but to be fair, he looked a lottttt softer on his bout against Mercer even if it was roughly (or exactly? don’t remember) at the same weight.
by Anton Tabuena on Jan 29, 2011 1:26 AM EST up reply actions
He was 305lbs for the Mercer fight. Tim was 275lbs for the Paul Buentello fight just 5 months ago. Did he even try to get into fighting shape for this one?
I'm guessing
if there’s no weight limit to be made, the big guy just doesn’t even bother to diet or train harder… He can still make 265lbs if he wanted to, but it looks like he’s not really motivated to do it anymore.
by Anton Tabuena on Jan 29, 2011 1:32 AM EST up reply actions
If he’s just going through the motions then for all practical purposes he’s done in the sport. It seems like he’s not even trying to get into fighting shape. He hasn’t made 265lbs since Fedor laid him out, that’s not because he can’t it’s because he isn’t doing what it takes to get back into that kind of fighting shape.
yeah,
too bad. Guys like wagner shouldn’t even be a challenge for an in-shape timmy.
by Anton Tabuena on Jan 29, 2011 1:50 AM EST up reply actions 1 recs
You have to wonder if his heart is really in it anymore. He hasn’t really seemed to be putting out that kind of effort since Fedor dropped him. He should of mauled Abe Wagner.
Here is what he looked like for the Nog fight, it’s not just weight it’s that he’s not at all in fighting shape now.

The Nog performance was actually a really good one for him.

The New Fading MMA Fighter
It will be a scene that will repeat itself over and over as some of the first and second wave fighters are not in the place where they need to be to compete, but because of money, thoughts of second glory, and/or the peripheral benefits of saying you are an active MMA fighter, they will continue long after they have succeeded in tarnishing their heyday records. The classic example, of course, is Ken Shamrock. Chuck was clearly on his way but stepped off before too much damage to his overall rep was made. Tito should think long and hard about it.
Of course, it is very easy for me to say this, but I am not a fighter who has thrown years of his life and personal identity into being a fighter. I do have some understanding on hard it must be to give up something that has defined who you are a big hunk of your professional and working life.
Even Chuck admitted that he was having a hard time being benched
Between the KO by Rich Franklin and the official announcement of his retirement/promotion.
It helps Chuck that he can have a reputation where it wasn’t a case of the game passing him by, but that his chin just couldn’t hold up as well as his skills did. Tito on the other hand, well…
Oh Timmy.
I laughed when I saw the headline and wasn’t surprised at all. But seeing the video….it’s just sad. You’d think he’d have learned his lesson about being in shape from the Mercer fight.
by gzl5000 on Jan 29, 2011 2:05 AM EST reply actions 1 recs
Yeah, I was quite shocked also. I can’t remember the last time Timmy was in as good of shape. I would chalk this loss up to over training. Based on how ripped he was, my guess is he obviously had an extended training camp and he spent every second of it training and forgot to put together a game plan. That’s all he was lacking tonight – a solid game plan.
Hopefully he won’t let this loss get him down and put on a bunch of weight over the next few weeks.

I’d still Timmy to beat Tim Hague though…
Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.
I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.
I'd probably
pick Hague to beat Abe Wagner. And without MMAth, I honestly think with the way Timmeh showed up tonight, Tank Abbot would’ve beat him. And Tim Hague would’ve grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and stolen his lunch money.
IMO, of course.

With a win over Sakurai and this quick win here, I expect him to get the call from Strikeforce or the UFC. I honestly think that Jason High would be a better fit in the Strikeforce Welterweight Division instead of the crowded, but not as crowded as Lightweight, UFC Welterweight Division.

Watch it again; Tim really makes what appears to be 2 attempts to stand, the first being wobbly, the second when he puts his hand on his knee for support.
Anyway, I agree with your last point; coming into that fight in such shape is a disgrace.
Well, ain’t that a shame. I guess I’ll stop lobbying for Timmy back in the big show now. Running backwards with your head up in the air seems to be a bad defensive move, he probably should have clinched up when he got tagged. I thought the the stoppage was a little premature, it was more a failed takedown attempt than a knockdown, should’ve allowed Wagner to land some GnP to seal the deal. But it was obvious Timmy was not going to win.

Always liked Sylvia was pulling for him but 311 should remain a name of a band not the weight you show up to fight.

That stoppage was weird. One of those strange Lavigne stoppages, but I guess it’s fair to say the ref looked confused, cause that failed takedown attempt was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. It was exactly how it looked: Fat man fell down and had trouble getting up.

None of those guys are world beaters. Only Ricco might be impressive at all. Yes Fat Tim probably wouldn’t have beaten those guys the way he did, but skinny Tim would have been wasted in the present UFC heavyweight division or the present Strikeforce heavyweight division
skinny tim was great
really good striking excellent stamina. ground game still shaky but he could scramble pretty good. he could take punishment because he was in a better overall condition. fat tim can’t do any of the things skinny tim can do. fat tim is just fat hoping to win a exchange with his reach.
