Ed Ratcliff cut from UFC
Just heard from the man himself that he has been cut from Zuffa/UFC.
Ratcliff has been on a bit of a slide, losing 3 of his last 4 fights before the merger of WEC and UFC in December after starting his career 7-0. His last fight was a close split decision loss to Chris Horodecki at WEC 51 in September. Some of his key victories include Brett Cooper, Johnny Sampaio and TUF alum Alex Karalexis. He leaves the UFC/WEC with a 3-3 record.

Tought break, but not shocking due to his recent record. I hope he does well wherever he lands.
I consider myself a softcore fan.
Bellator or Strikeforce would be a great landing spot
He’s currently dealing with a back issue and I think that has hampered his ability the last few fights. He’s a real student of the game and understands his shortcomings, but he’s an excellent fighter who I feel once he has his back issues corrected, he’ll become a contender for the title in whichever organization he’s in.

Sounds like they were trying to give him a chance but he was injured and the division is just too crowded
If he wasn’t on a 3-1 skid and could have fought early this I imagine they’d have kept him on.

I think that being injured hurt him the most....and 1-3 in his last 4
He’s had the back problems for awhile and it’s noticeable, especially after the Horodecki fight. You could tell he was keeping it standing and taking any chance of going to the ground. We spoke prior to that fight and he wanted to bring the fight to Chris, with an eventual takedown and G&P it out. But, he never got the chance to do that and in turn, allowed Chris to control the fight. His issues are nothing like Quarry’s or Tito’s, but it’s bad enough that he isn’t gonna fight for another 3 more months. That would mean a fight in late Spring/Early Summer. Either of the other two mid-major mma orgs, Bellator or Strikeforce, should grab him up.

Strikeforce won't grab him
They make it a point to not grab UFC leftovers. They have to leave under weird circumstances like Werdum or Daley. Cuts with bad records tend to be avoided, at least until they win again.

It’s amazing how often people don’t realize this.
