Big Nog Weighs in Upcoming TUF, Brock vs JDS and Strikeforce’s GP (via: PVT)
Regarding TUF and JDS vs Lesnar:
TUF is going to be important to showcase Brazilian MMA in the US, show them how we train united. I showed them that when I was TUF coach and Cigano will show the same. We’ll be going to visit him, me and Anderson, but Cigano is a guy who already knows how to teach, he already teaches. He’ll know how to show the techniques and show why he’s one of the best in the world. As for Lesnar, he doesn’t kick, so Cigano will not need to train too much defensive Muay Thai, as he was training for Cain, he can now rely more on training offensive Muay Thai. And this is the type of fight where he’ll look for the KO, train a lot of wrestling, train the guard because he could end up falling underneath (Lesnar), even though Lesnar’s GnP is not as good as Cain’s. But (Cigano) will look for the KO in this fight.
Regarding Strikeforce’s HW GP:
I think Big Foot, Fedor and Barnett will be the favorites for the GP. The fight between Fedor and Big Foot could be an anticipated final. (Big Foot) has good wrestling, he’s tough, and he’ll be the biggest challenge to Fedor in this GP.
Regarding SF supposedly having the best HW’s:
I do not agree, I think the best are in the UFC. Strikeforce has a lot of tough guys, we’ll have big fights in this GP, but the UFC is still more complicated.

"the UFC is more complicated"
Are we sure he did mean injured?

What do you think he is gonna say? SF is better? Just like SF isnt gonna say UFC is better.
Both div are basically even.
UFC has the top HW< 5 or 6 of the top 10 and 13 out of 24, SF has 7, So UFC has the top HW, more of the top 10 and double the top 24, yet some say SF HW div is better?
Why cause they have more fights then Cain and JDS and Brock and Carwin? Wow so more fights means better? Experience? yes, but also older.
SF HW are good, Fedor, Werdum, Big FOot, Barnett and Reem are their top guys, BIg Foot and Reem are unproven, Fedor lost, Barnett hasnt beaten a top HW in years and JDS smashed Werdum out of the UFC.
So all the talk about UFC HW unproven the same can be said for some SF HW, Rogers, AA lost 3 in a row, Sergei isnt much right now.
So going back and forth about the div is pointless, they are basically even in terms of the top guys, SF has the best two HW prospects in Shane and Cormier, some good mid level guys and half the top ten, UFC has half the top ten, the top HW, and more depth.
Anyway SF GP winner probably takes the top HW spot but without beating the UFC HW champ that means the UFC HW champ can regain the top spot, if JDS beats Brock then Cain then Carwin, tell me he isnt hte top HW?
Cain beats Brock/JDS then Carwin, how is he not the top HW then?
Once the SF GP is over and say Reem beats Werdum, Fedor and Barentt or whoever then what? Only Cormier and Shane remain, figure the final will take place in the fall, by then Cain vs JDS/Brock will be happening, but the UFC has Carwin, then Mir/Nelson to go into 2012 as contender while SF would have to groom one of the two prospects or have someone coming off a loss in the GP to face Reem, and if he beats Fedor, Werdum and Barnett the others like Rogers, Big Foot, Sergei people wont care to see them, so the point is come 2012 their will be 2 HW standing.
UFC HW champ and the SF HW champ, both wont have big fights and everyone will want to see who the best is.
Sure SF can sign guys like Tim, Monson, Ricco, Rizzo, Duffee, or UFC can sign Tim and maybe he wins a few and gets back towards contention, maybe Nogs wins a few fights and gets a shot but the fact is after Werdum, Reem, Fedor, Big Foot, Barnett winner emerges and Cain, JDS, Brock, Carwin winner emerges their is only one fight left, the winners from each org.
So who will be ranked 1 is anyones guess, I think SF GP winner takes the spot until Cain vs JDS/Brock happens then the winner of that could get the spot, some will say no its still SF GP winner, but then if the UFC HW champ fights Carwin then I think they regain the top spot, so the top spot will flip flop between orgs over the nesxt 18 months but come next year we will only have 2 HW standing and they will be the two best in the world.

As much as i like Big Nog i have to say he's totally imparcial
I know the rankings, and i totally disagree with having all the UFC topnames in the top5. I think Overeem should be at the top 3 without a doubt. I am not judging from fight to fight, im judging former compitition, and actual talent. Sure a lot of the SF fighters have been off the last year or two, but they are still as good of fighters as they used to be, Fedor, Barnett, Overeem would give anyone in the UFC top3 a good run for his money.
I think the divisions are quite even, but i do believe that in a mixed GP between the top 4 guys in each organization, SF would take home.
And if you dont know, now you know..... !
my bad
from the same interview:
I am getting better, I’ll be here in Brazil for the next two weeks doing physiotherapy, then I’ll be going to the US to do some treatment on my left leg and between the second half to the end of March I should get back to trainning. I’ll be getting ready to return fighting by the end of August.

Does going Gorilla involve a lot of laying around and twitching involuntarily?
If so, I agree with you?

Ironically
Gorillas are very peaceful animals, especially compared to chimps and humans.
‘Going gorilla’ may actually involve gentle caressing and quite naps on the forest floor with your family. So you may be right.

It’s interesting that Nog talks about Two Saints prepping for Cain’s kicking abilities. I noted that very swift high kick Cain’s developing a while back and thought it was the perfect tool for a wrestler to use.
I’d envisioned Cain using the kick to get the hands up and thus making it easier to shoot in for the takedown. It looks like Nog and Two Saints are well aware of that and working on it.

Two Saints
I’m afraid that his name means “Of Saints” not Two Saints.

I know this – but it’s still way more fun to call him Two Saints than Dos Santos.

Giant Silva
Not to be confused with Bigfoot Silva, who is much more handsome.

Also
Did you know Thiago Silva’s middle name is Anderson?

Didn’t know this one.
Did you know Giant Silva played basketball at the Brazilian Olympic team?

Nope.
But he looks agile.
Brazil’s pretty damn good too. He must have been OK. Well, then again, he’s fucking huge. South American Shaq.

Wow
He was pretty good.
20 years later and he would have been in the NBA for sure. Maybe even 10. Scouts would be drooling all over him. There’s a guy right now, Thiago Splitter he’s about 7’ and pretty skilled. I don’t think he has any interest in playing in the NBA though. San Antonio had his rights a couple years ago but he never came over.

update
turns out he’s playing for the Spurs this season.
"I'll rock your body with big nasty hooks!"
I watched him play for the Brazilian team sometimes, he was good, but my favourite was Anderson Varejao (he was in Cleveland if I am not mistaken). There’s also Nene (who was in Denver) and Leandrinho (who was in Phoenix). But surprisingly this team haven’t accomplished anything of note, failing to qualify to the Olympic games more than once and even to the Panamerican games.

The best players stayed home
Barbosa, Varejao, Nene stayed home in ’08 and ’09 IIRC.
I was comparing him to Splitter because they have a similar skill set.
Varejao is really good, but he’s a hustle player. He can rebound and loves to take charges. Nene is a shorty, but he’s a pretty solid PF. Good hands and athletic ability. Leandrinho is the man, one of my favorite players to watch for sure. He looks wild on the court, but damn is he fast.
"I'll rock your body with big nasty hooks!"
It is good to see they are respect in the USA. Unfortunately I can’t follow the NBA here, the last time I watched the championship rounds was probably Bull vs Sonics (or Bulls vs Jazz, don’t remember which one came later).

I know he’s a Silva too, but he just seems much more fitting to the nickname “Bigfoot” then Antonio Silva does.
I was not implying you didn’t know it, just pointing it.
