Fighting Xande in MMA is like being in prison.
There’s an easy way and there’s a hard way. Neither will be pleasant, but if you just let him do what he wants then it won’t hurt as much.
I don’t think technique is close to even between Demian and Rousimar. Fundamentals are still the name of the game in BJJ and it’s still the most effective in MMA too. Palhares is great at diving for submissions and torquing the shit out of them, but I’m not sold on his ability to set something up against an elite grappler. Maia has an uncanny ability to dictate pace on the ground and would make it his fight.

well, he locked an apparently tight heel hook but was unable to crank it all the way.
But people say that Hendo was using some sort of “semi-solid mixture of hydrocarbons (with carbon numbers mainly higher than 25)” on his heels…

I’d say he’s a bit better than Aoki. The three best submission guys (Treestump, Maia, and Jacare) are at 185. Werdum, let’s not act like he’s a world beater all of a sudden. Yes he’s won the ADCC. But just because he submitted Fedor doesn’t mean he’s an epic MMA grappling machine.
I think Palhares gets in there because he seems to be faster and just willing to grab anythign and not really put in a lot of guard work and stuff like most people expect from a BJJ guy.
I think Aoki is the best submission fighter in MMA actually.
