Chuck Liddell Undecided on Retirement, May Make Another Title Run
"I’ve been doing PR stuff for the last couple months, and I’ll finally be home for the month. I’ll probably decide sometime in September, when I have time to relax."
"I don’t feel like there’s anything left to prove. I still love fighting, but there’s a lot that goes into it. Maybe it might be time. I’m just not sure yet."
"It’s about how I feel and if I want to go back and make a run at a title and how far away that would be. And whatever I think is left in the tank."

I'd support him on it...
if he’d KTFO that fucktard holding it.
I like Fedor, it’s just his fans that are intolerable...and his management.
I'm not a gigantic Liddell fan but..
in all fairness his last 3 losses were to pretty tough guys, that anyone would have trouble with. LHW Champ, #1 Contender/Former Champ, and Former MW champ. Kudos for stepping up. I wish nothing but Chuck the best, and hope he stays healthy.
He's getting destroyed with murderous KO punches
This is where serious brain damage takes place the more he fights.
Mo Johnston is what John Schneider could be in 4 years.
Actually, it's worse
He’s getting destroyed by hit-and-run punches, on a scale of 1 to “murderous”

Dana should cut him
If he goes to Strikeforce then so be it, because he’ll get knocked out cold there too.
Chuck’s gotta learn one way or another that he has to retire.

You have no chin. Hang it up man. You are a legend of the sport and you are only ruining your legacy and harming yourself.

Since we all know that getting KO'd over and over again
can/will cause serious brain damage that can/will affect him later in life, Chuck is probably aware of it as well. He knows the risks. He is making his choice.
I wouldn’t make the same choice as him, but I wouldn’t mind seeing him walk away after a win. Good luck Liddell.
"Deserve's got nothing to do with it." -Will Munny, a known thief and murderer, a man of notoriously vicious and intemperate disposition.
In theory I'd like to see him KTFO out of Tito first
But given his current chin and inability or unwillingness to defend it properly, combined with Tito connecting pretty well last time, I’m afraid he might get KO’d to F’ing Tito…
Liddell might become suicidal if that happens, so…
Retire with dignity now, or come back to crush a can to go out with a ‘W’

that my friend is my biggest fear!
Chuck fighting Tito and thinking it is his way out and then Tito catching him and knocking him out. And then we would have to hear Tito talk about how he retired Chuck Liddell. God help us all if that happens.
Shut up, Tito.

Agreed
Unfortunately, if its offered, I don’t think he will be able to resist the temptation…
Who would be a good opponent, with some name value but not too much of a threat on the feet?
Would another fight with Randy, win or lose, be a decent prospect? Maybe bring Coleman back?

I want to know why he can't walk away though
He’s not Ken Shamrock who was terrible with his money. By all accounts Chuck’s been pretty smart about saving up and he was a massive star.

I think Chuck, Shamrock, and Pulver are all in the same position where they are close to an end of a career and are worried they won’t make as much in the future. Chuck is different in that instead of fighting too long because he is broke, he is fighting too long because he can still make millions.
Exactly. It is the complete opposite side of the spectrum.

I think
it’s all about that competitive nature. He just wants to fight. I don’t think it bothers Chuck that much that he is getting knocked out. Chuck is addicted to the game. He just wants to fight. It’s all he knows how to do and it’s all he wants to do. Unfortunately he doesn’t have the chin anymore and there’s nothing he can do about it.
Shut up, Tito.
by TruthSeeker1223 on Sep 5, 2010 9:39 PM EDT up reply actions
I too would like to see him walk away with a W but the fact he wants to make a run for the title means he’s going to want to fight guys who will help him climb the ladder, just seems to be the nature of the guy, no point in fighting if there is no goal.
It’s against these guys that he’ll get smashed. You’re a legend Chuck and will have a job with the UFC for life, outside the cage. Nothing to prove, time to hang em up.
Goldberg: "He's got him in some kind of strange choke I've never seen before!"
Rogan: "That's a rear naked choke."
This man's pride knows no bounds.
He’s one of the most famous fighters in UFC history. He can easily make enough money as a part-time trainer/doing appearances to live very well. He just can’t let it go. As time goes on we’re going to see this happen more and more. A lot of former champions aren’t going to want to go out on a bad streak.
The sad part is his fight with Franklin was the perfect fight to go out on despite the loss. He went out swinging and gunning. Exactly how everyone thought Chuck would.
Chuck's chin is gone.

This is a bad, bad idea.

Chuck please retire and keep your status as a legend. Please do not become the next Ken Shamrock.

Dana White epic fail #3958
Shogun KO’s Liddell.
Dana White: Chuck Liddell will NEVER fight in the UFC again.
A few months later.
Dana White: Chuck is back! He is training very hard and is very motivated.
Franklin KO’s Liddell.
Dana White: Chuck Liddell will NEVER fight in the UFC again.
And here we are now..
Dana White's "never will" again is an empty threat
I think Anderson Silva pretty much made note of this.
Mo Johnston is what John Schneider could be in 4 years.
Anderson Silva was also gonna fight on a prelim.
Mo Johnston is what John Schneider could be in 4 years.
And how no one who agreed to be in EA MMA would EVER fight in the UFC.
Like Matyushenko, Shields and Couture.
To be fair, his twin brother Jack Shields was the one in the game
Not Jake.

Sorry dude, we only rec your comments if it’s unfunny and about scott coker. try again next strikeforce event. They may like use compustrike or something, which is a great reason to make fun of them. Another good key point is to mention how bad Mauro’s gotten without ever hearing him before the past year. That shit’s instagreen.
For instance, try saying
“LOL MORE LIKE SCOTT JOKERS”
that’ll get you 3 recs at least
then

mention that i’m scott coker for the above comment. If it doesn’t reach and stay at 29 responses exactly, then we are all depressed sad individuals and hate ourselves and are what’s wrong with the sport.

If Dana doesn't want Chuck to fight
he should tell him that his comeback fight would be Bones
I’ve got big walnuts. Gorilla nuts.
he would take the fight.
Chuck has balls that clank.
But he then would be put into a coma by Bones and we would all mourn the loss of a Warrior.

I'm afraid you are right,
On both counts…
I would never underestimate Dana’s attempts to keep him out – he just might do it…
Then Snowden’s prophetic article would be fulfilled…

Serious suggestion
.. Chuck vs. ken shamrock
2 HOFers fight, chuck wins easy, both legends get a decent pay day and hopefully ken makes enough money to hang it up and chuck can hang it up on a win

Doubt it will happen
Ken just sued the UFC, even though he lost the case i’m pretty sure the ufc doesn’t want him to fight for them.
Ken was sued into a living death by the UFC
He’s gonna be fighting on the smaller circuit until he’s 60 to pay them back their 750k dollars
by ImmortalTechnique92 on Sep 5, 2010 5:31 PM EDT up reply actions
It was the other way around
Ken sued the UFC because he said he still had one fight left on his contract before he left. It was Ken’s fault that he made himself even more broke by suing Zuffa.
Ken has to pay the UFC’s lawyer fees which are somewhere around a lot of money.

I’m just tired of hearing about Liddell. If he wants to die in the cage, fuck it. Let him die in the cage then. I’d throw him Jon Jones, Rogerio Nogueira, Anderson Silva, and Vitor Belfort .. all in the same night. That should send the message across. And to top it all off, we should have Rafael Feijao come in just to really put the final exclamation point on Chuck’s chin. I’m not worrying about his health anymore. If he wants to keep fighting and endangering himself (and his brain) then let him do it. Fuck it. Dana will let him do whatever he wants because he has zero spine when it comes to “his” fighters.

"Dana will let him do whatever he wants because he has zero spine when it comes to "his" fighters."
I was kind of with up till the end. If anything, Dana has way…way too much spine at times.
I like Fedor, it’s just his fans that are intolerable...and his management.
Like when?
Huges? The guy isn’t getting a title shot ever again.
Franklyn? He’s been feed a steady diet of fights that do nothing to improve his standing at 205 even after consistently playing ball with what the UFC wants.
Couture? You might be able to argue this, but it seems like very much a two way street now days.
Who else is a “Dana’s guy”?
I like Fedor, it’s just his fans that are intolerable...and his management.
Two Words: Tito. Ortiz.
Win or lose vs. Hamill. We know from two prior meetings that Tito doesn’t have anything for Chuck. It’s not like time has been kinder to Tito then it has to Chuck, not by much anyways. Have him KO Ortiz, make the Iceman screaming-flex pose, give adoring fans the magic half-chub of nostalgic fondness and ride off into the sunset,
Give me smallest finger on man's hand. I'll produce information. Computer unnecessary.
And we have our Favre
Another step closer to the NFL.
Chuck is done in the UFC, if he decides to fight outside of it it’s on him but I don’t see anyway in hell that Dana let’s him have another fight in the UFC again.

He shouldn’t be thinking he can win the title when his recent record against the top guys at 205 is all losses by (T)KO.
I consider myself a softcore fan.
