This looks horrible.
Did anybody else laugh in the very beginning when Shinya Aoki ran to the middle?
The only positive thing I can say is that the submission aspect of it looks fun and smooth and I feel good about not being “flash submitted” like the horrible UFC 2010 game.
BTW who announces the champion first? What is this, WWE?
uuuh yeah I write for the Cincinnati Enquirer. Thanks?

The animation and transitions piss all over Undisputed
The only thing that looks unrealistic is the way the fighters move too quickly when standing and going in and out, but that was probably a compromise made to make the game faster paced. After all, they’re going to be trying to get some fans of streetfighter etc to pick this up.
The submission game and transitions look pretty good. Undisputed looks like crap to me with a bunch of mocap jerkily stitched together. The only thing that game has going for it is the UFC license.
I’m not a huge gamer or anything but this looks awful.

Neither character fights enough like their real life counterpart. Where is Nick’s patented “punches in bunches” technique? Aoki is not throwing enough flying submissions for my liking. The ground game mechanics seem like a button mashing contest. The game looks pretty fun though despite my nitpicks.
Well, to be fair, the players controlling the fighters would have to implement each fighter’s ‘style’ for it to matter. The guy playing as Diaz sucked, it seemed. And hopefully EA puts in sliders to modifying puching power, submissions difficulty, etc…, so you can customized it to be more realistic. Still head and effing shoulders above the turd offering from THQ.
And a good Career mode would MORE than make it a purchase in my books. Seems like it would be fun, almost arcade-like, to play with friends. I mean Fight Night Round 4 got a lot of negative heat for the punching output, etc…, because it didnt look like real boxing, but the fact remains that the game was damn fun and that sometimes pure simulation is not the best route.
also its not a button mashing contest
if you try to button mash you’ll gas out extremely fast. its far from button mashing.
I like Aoki winning the striking game early, including working from the thai clinch…hmmm.

I was hoping we would get to see Aoki cry.

Looks good to me
I’m sorry but if your not a gamer than why post that it looks bad. I’m sure that opinion would be same for most games. In regards to button smashing, u must not of played ufc 09,same thing. It’s gotta b hard to impliment sub game on a game. I’ve played games for 20 yes and I can’t think of bettr way to do subs. I can’t wait for pride rules fighting, or fight in ring or play w/ couture vs fedor. can’t wait for this shit

People can have an opinion on things...
without being hardcore about them. I’m not a big jazz fan but if I hear a jazz song and think it sucks…that’s my opinion.

He's saying your opinion doesn't matter
if you don’t play/buy games.
That certainly seems to be what he just rebuked

no he didn't rebuke it at all
it’d be like someone who doesn’t listen to music at all saying it sucks.
I think you do have to play games to have a valid opinion of if it looks fun or not.
He seems to have rebuked it fine
So if a commercial to a game looks terrible and unpleasant, he still has to play it to think it seems unpleasant? This sounds like an idea left over from an argument with my mom at age nine :).
It’s no one’s fault but the game producers if the advertising & packaging is a turn-off and makes people want nothing to do with the game.

I actually played this at Strikeforce Houston and it was a lot of fun. I bought both UFC games and really liked them a lot as well, What makes this game fun to play is the control system. Its way better than the UFC in that aspect.
Also, soccer kicks are freaking sweet as well.
All in all, my first impression was very very good.

It just be my current headache...
but watching the camera rotate a little after every single movement is making me dizzy.
when will...
my wii get a good MMA game…i’d like to point and click body parts while in the gaurd to go for submissions. or i need to accept the fact that at 26 years of age wii isn’t for me or those games. screw it i still have those bad ass THQ rasslin’ games on my N64.

I saw a few moves that don’t really exist. That sweep Aoki hit doesn’t look like a real move, and Diaz using both hands to push down on Aoki’s leg to open his guard would get him submitted in real life.
But the worst part was probably that Kimura. When the guy’s arm is out like this, there’s no way he can “struggle” to defend it, it’s much too late…
These might seem like small things, but they’d be easy to fix and it detracts from the experience in my opinion.
This game really does look pretty bad IMO
Compared to UFC Undisputed, the detail of the graphics of the fighters look nowhere close to the detail UFC put into their game. EA’s graphics look like they are from a PS2 or regular XBOX game at best. Also, the punch and kick motions seem totally herky-jerky. I will say that the grappling seems as good if not better than UFC’s game, though.
Another huge annoyance is the loud “thud” sound every strike produces. It makes it seem kinda like watching a cartoon fight with full sound effects.
Undisputed looks and sound better hands down. I guess once I play EA I can say for sure, but I own Undisputed 2009 and 2010 for 360, and they both seem much much smoother than anything here would have me believe about EA.

Very realistic
the commentary sucks just as much as the real life Strikeforce broadcasts! :D

A couple of things…
1) Yeah, the running around. I hope that it’s controlled with a “sprint” button or something, but if it’s not, it’s seriously not the end of the world. If you’ve played Fight Night Round 4, or even the THQ UFC games, you know that sometimes your fighter just will not move fast enough. I’d rather move fast, than hardly move when I want to. Once again, I really hope its controlled with pressing in the stick or something, but it’s a bit late to be hoping for things.
2) I’ve seen complaints of button mashing on the ground, let me explain that mechanic. If you just tap the button repeatedly, you’ll run out of stamina, and fail at whatever it is you’re trying to do. You have to tap a bit to fight it, let stamina return, tap a bit…and repeat, tapping at times when your opponents stamina is falling. First fighter to lose all stamina, loses. So, no, it’s not QUITE button mashing, because button mashing = fastest masher wins…this is controlled mashing, which I think works well.
3) We really don’t know much until we get our hands on the game. No offense to the guys playing the game in the preview videos, but most of them look like they suck. Nothing gets defended, nobody is putting together combos…you know, the list goes on. At least whoever was playing Aoki knew to go for subs…
4) Graphics…really? Maybe I’m easy to please, but it looks fine to me. If you have a problem with the STYLE, or the LIGHTING, thats different…but the Graphics don’t look bad to me. I think the camera style for Undisputed is better, it’s certainly easier to watch, and brings you closer to the action. The way EA’s camera is, you’re far away from the fighters, so all that work they put in on aesthetics for the fighters is a bit harder to see. (And man, some character models are terrible.)
5) Worthy of note, is that I’ve never seen one negative comment from someone who had played the game. They may have made suggestions (the striking has improved a ton thanks to those) but never “this game is horrible”.

Oh yeah, the clinch work. The strikes in the clinch were no bueno. And it was funny thinking how bad Diaz would maul Aoki if they really fought at 170.

When did Strikeforce start handing out complimentary cameras?
I couldn’t help but be distracted by the CONSTANT flashing in the background. The ground transitions are smooth but the stand up looks horrible. I’m disappointed.
Goldberg: "He's got him in some kind of strange choke I've never seen before!"
Rogan: "That's a rear naked choke."
Same problem in Fight Night as well
I wish an MMA fight would punish and have more realistic cardio. I want to have an MMA fight that is like a real fight. I want 40% decisions. I want cardio strategy.

This looks like an arcade game
Typical EA Sports.
Mo Johnston is what John Schneider could be in 4 years.
The graphics look pretty good
but I’m pretty sure while it will do some things right that UFCU did wrong, there will probably be a bunch of frak ups.
They should really just let Namco or Sega make these games.
Imagine Lesnar's super
