UFC 119 Preview: Frank Mir Talks Mirko Cro Cop - "Every Advantage Is Mine"
"Mirko (Crocop) is very good on his feet; I'm not bad on my feet either. Add in the wrestling that I have been working on, the jiu jitsu aspect, he has many more things to worry about. Once that cage door shuts every advantage is mine."
"I don't see anywhere I don't feel comfortable with CroCop - I can beat him in more ways than he can beat me."

Have to agree with Frank here. I love me some Cro Cop, but this isn’t a good matchup for him. I’d have rather seen Roy vs. Frank.

That just guarantees
more elementary school fat jokes from Carwin. It’s hilarious that is what counts as trash talking for him.
Carwin is in no position to run his mouth at the moment. Of course that may not stop him, but still…

But can you really say this is talking shit
Shane Carwin – “I love Roy Nelson trying to elevate his status by talking smacks. Hopefully he is doing so on a treadmil. Some have rolls he has a bakery.”
I would have said something like this when I was like 8.
Roy Nelson-“Well it’s a tough fight, and I’m on pins and needles about it right now. Hopefully I’ll be able to inject some new life into my career.”

I am hoping for Mirko to pull this one out
Mir has no heart. Once someone puts some steam on him he folds. Mirko proved he still has a little in the last fight and that will be enough.
No heart?
That’s a little rough, he survived a beating by Brock to get the sub.

Pain don't hurt...
Oh, that's so sad.
So throwing your leg under your opponents, rolling your hips to the kneebar, take some lunchbox hammerfists to your face and still lock it in and win submission of the year is a fluke?
there’s truly some pathetic “fans” in this sport man.
Before you get any more high and mighty...
I think he means the fluke was due to the referee’s universally considered bad stand up after warning Brock all of 1 time about blows to the back of the head earlier when he has Mir balled up.
But don’t let that stop your own pathetic judgment rampage.
I like Fedor, it’s just his fans that are intolerable...and his management.
it was more than one back of the head blow...
Also, Brock got better position, or equal position after the stand up.

He didn't say one blow to the back of the head
He said one warning.

Well
he wouldn’t have survived that beating if it weren’t for that bullshit stand up. He accidentally punched him in the back of the head once and then the ref stood it up and took a point.
Yeah he pulled that one out of the sky for sure
And congrats to him, it got him some more miles. I just don’t think he can afford to play pitch and catch with CroCop at this stage.
it was more than one back of the head shot.

I’m not a fan of Mir, but who you mean by someone is Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin. The guy came back after shattering his body in a motorcycle accident. To say he has no heart is weak. And I love Mirko, but if anyone’s will to fight is in question, it’s him.

SimplePsych – I agree 100%. You can call it not heart I just thinks its Franks pain threshold seems to be incredibly low.Not only is Frank horrible at taking damamge Mir is is also notorius for just crumbaling ounce he takes one BIG hit. Sure Frank has more ways to win this fight but I can easily see Mirko hitting Frank with one left straight and Frank just retreating into himself and getting punded out.
Every single loss Frank has from Freeman to Carwin its the same type of loss. He gets hit with one or two hard shot’s and then thats it he just freezes goes into eather the fetal position or incoming shell shock position with his hands over his head and gets ground and pounded out.
I’m very curious to see how Mir does in this fight he should be the favorite but after that lackluster performance against Carwin where he looked like he didn’t give a fuck. And all this talk of his dropping down to LHW which was freaking ridiculous CC could have a chance because Mir is his biggest enemy. That’s the thing that is frustrating as a fan because when he’s on his game he can be elite but sometimes he’s so fucking arrogant in the cage that it bites him in the ass he can’t afford to do that against CC who showed he can still capitalize on mistakes.

I don't think Mir can get him down.
Mirko takes this if he shows up at all in form.
And then God created Saturn... and he liked it, so he put a ring on it.
Twitter me and what not.
Cro Cop has some of the best TDD out there and will be able to keep this fight on the feet.
Mir could very well win, but stylistically this fight is his worst nightmare.

Frank’s working on bringing the jiu jitsu aspect back to karate.

Love the guy, but no way is Mirko gonna win this
The only way Mir has lost is by being overpowered by behemoths. I’m thinking Mir by submission.
..!..
Brandon Vera?
Pe De Pano?
Ian Freeman?
The only way Mir loses is by crumbling when he gets hurt. The guy has the absolute worst reactions to taking damage. He just freezes up. If Mirko can stun him, he can take advantage of Frank’s “deer in the headlights” tendencies.

Eh. Outside of Vera
Mir always loses from GnP from Half guard.

I can think of one area where Mirko has a HUGE advantage ....
He responds much better to taking damage. If Mirko manages to land a few good shots, Frank will crumble like he always does when he gets hurt.
He "crumbled" in what fights?
Carwin and Lesnar?
Thats like calling someone a pussy for giving up after they got hit with a cinder block

Pe De Pano – He just laid there while Cruz smashed him in the face
Freeman – see above
Lesnar – see above
Carwin – see above
The guy can’t handle getting hurt. He freezes up.
Don't forget
the Vera fight.

I’ll cut him some slack for that one.
Brandon knocked him dead with the quickness. Frank didn’t have a chance to crumble.
That’s very nice of you.

I am not a Mir fan,
but he is correct. Mirko shouldn’t have taken this fight.
He should’ve just faced Couture or whoever in Germany.

Crocop by first round decapitation
I hope we see old pride crocop. Crocop at his peak would murder Mir at his peak…
I'm praying for Cro Cop on this one....
I would love to see him win this.

I love the way BE is showing the last 4 or 5 fights on postings like this now.....
I’m under the impression Mirko is all totally washed up, but he has won 4 our of his last 5. Not top competition, but solid wins. I’m sure Frank will win this fight but I think it will be much closer than we all think.
You know, there are other MMA websites.
You seem to be developing this hate/hate thing with BE, could be that you need to take your business elsewhere…
I like Fedor, it’s just his fans that are intolerable...and his management.
Ummmm...reply fail perhaps?
Otherwise, I am not quite sure how this could be construed as anything but giving props to BE…

This isn’t PRIDE so that is not even a viable debate point. Frank is also not Anthony Perosh, Hong Man Choi, Mostapha Al-Turk or a one arm and leg Pat Barry. The Vera fight was also after the motorcycle wreck. Granted he can be a bit arrogant in the cage and throw gameplans out the window but I just don’t see how Frank can lose this fight. Also, no heart? He took a lot of big shots in both lesnar fights and the Carwin fight, although the outcome wasn’t favorable. What would Mirko have done if presented with the same type of punishment?
Nope
How can he lose? How about one nice solid high leg kick to the head that drops him like a bad habit. That’s one way I could think of. I’m sure there are others.

Agreed
I’m still not sold on Mir, he landed that big shot on Kongo really early in that fight so we can’t really tell if he improved much there, Big Nog had that nasty staph infection going on, and he only beat Brock because of that bullshit stand up by the ref. Then he completely got owned by Carwin and Brock.
in 2010?
not hardly. Rewind a few years and that’s obvious statement of the month.

Crocop is the better striker,
so, how is every advantage yours, Frank?
I want Kim Winslow or Tan Dan to ref Tito Ortiz' next loss.

Frank is the better striker, isn’t that obvious? He will come in the cage not worrying about strikes, gets clocked in the face, will crumble to the floor, after the fight decide that he’s not fast enough, so he’ll drop to MW, etc.

I know there not big names, but Crocop has quite the record(recent 4-1) for a guy people often talk about in the same manner as say Chuck Liddel. I have not seen some of those recent fight, did he just look bad in those fights and barley win?
