Who the fuck picks this shit? Dunham/sherk was a 1000 times better than anything on the card and Mir doesn’t get KO just cos the rest of the fight sucked and no one like seeing CC knocked out.

The suckiness of that fight totally overshadowed the KO. Listen to the crowd when it happened, they didn’t give a fuck at that point.
It didn’t overshadow the KO unless you were waiving around Mirko’s flag, if anything Dana should be thankfull that Mir didn’t just try to ride out the decision and went for the kill.

even he was surprised that the knee knocked Mirko out. It was a shitty performance from both fighters and no one deserved to be rewarded for it.

When was it ever said that there had to be a KO of the night?
The person who wrote this article was the one who was wrong when he wrote that that it was because there was no knockout of the night, Dana just simply said that there were two Fight of the Nights and Sub of the Night.
The only time a KO or Sub of the night hasn’t been handed out is when there isn’t one, thre has never been a time where Dana didn’t give out a bonus when there was at least one KO or sub.

Fighters are grateful that theres a chance they could get a bonus. The UFC could easily say fuck it like other promotions and not give one but they choose to. Like they chose not to give Mir 70,000 dollars for a shitty fucking performance.

Side from Mir knocking out Cro Cop, the biggest KO came from that dreadful Stephens/Guillard fight. It put me and my friends right to sleep.

If Mike Russow gets KOTN for getting punched in the face for 2.5 rounds and landing a one-shot KO, then shouldn’t Mir get one for not getting punched in the face for 2.8 rounds and landing a one-shot KO? Neither fight was interesting until the final 3 seconds, but it seems like Mir is getting punished for not having terrible defense.

I guess the difference is that Duffee-Russow was on the undercard whereas Mir (and Cro Cop) laid an egg in the main event. And so Dana is pissed and so no bonus.

I don’t think that should really matter anyway. Mir has rarely had a boring fight in the UFC. Can’t say the same for CroCop. Mir should be pissed at Dana for this slight.

I stand corrected.
I thought it was a prelim that got aired because of the big KO, but you are right. I guess it just shows the arbitrary nature of the UFC’s bonus system. I think part of it might have been the somewhat anti-climactic nature of the whole card (too many decisions, etc).

mir ko a sparring partner
that doesnt give u KO of the night. that fight was so boring and im really pissed with CC. he acts like his head isnt in the game anymore. mir was sloppy. the whole fight, sloppy. and he got a ok knee on CC in late of the 3rd round. mir was exhausted and he did nothing the whole fight. rogan said it right. mir vs CC was a sparring match.

why are people so fucking pissed that Mir, a relatively well compensated MMA fighter didn’t get a bonus when it means that two Fight of the Night bonuses are award and thus more overall fighters get bonus…3 of which (Dunham, Mitrione and Beltran) are assuredly on the low end of the pay scale and going to get the most mileage out of the money.
Seriously, let go of the insane hatred and see how this is actually a very cool move by Dana.
