Anderson Silva's Manager Says Chael Sonnen Fight Still On
"I'm going to consider the fight being a fight until told otherwise. If it is a mishap, I hope this whole thing gets straightened out."
"If this is true, I feel really bad for him.
"I don't think anybody is stoked to hear that, not even us. I'm bummed for him."
Anderson Silva's manager Ed Soares speaking to Ariel Helwani.

I'm impressed
That Soares is taking the high road. I was expecting him to blast Shale Shonen on the issue since Shonen accused Silva of soaking in baby oil and being a cheater. This is good form for Soares.
im stunned at how soares is taking this
his doucheyness level has seriously dropped
We have a saying back home that if your coming on, COME ON!!!!
Really?
Let’s be honest here, Soares was never in the background dancing around with his shirt off like Puff Daddy in a Bad Boy video. I think people have always exaggerated about this guy and his motives.
As for the comments, what better way to make Chael look even worse then by taking the high road and not going for the easy bait and kicking someone when they’re down like Sonnen would’ve, Ed well knows this.
"The fight between Overeem and Rogers probably resembled Overeem’s prom night, with the overwhelmed opposition succumbing to a brutal pounding eventually leading to submission in the face of agony and a stay in the hospital."
when was Soares a douche?
I’m curious..when have the black House guys ever lied, cheated, or done any of the things Chael Sonnen did.
I just looked it up, and douchyness, or someone’s douche level is defined as “calling someone a douche without foundation”.
“Douchyness level” falls under retarded English.
..!..
But Chael said he was
yes, that was sarcasm
I’d point to him jumping around the ring pointing and swearing at Sonnen right after the Silva fight as if he had anything to do with the win.

Ed Soares is leaving the door open to the only money fight Anderson will get in his division
instead of burning it to the ground? Shocking news!
This isn’t an attempt to be classy, it’s damage control.

Vitor and Okami aren't going to draw like Chael's shit talk.
The rematch is his money fight. Of course Ed is going to leave the door open to it.
"Someone is WRONG on the internet. What do you want me to do? LEAVE? Then they'll keep being wrong!"

It’s not his door to close. All he stating is that the fights on until the UFC says it’s not. No matter what the outcome of Chael’s case is, we’re likely to see the fight at some point down the road anyway, so no matter what Ed says here in regards to the fight, it doesn’t really matter. He’s taking the high road. That’s the point.
Besides that, Vitor is a money fight with an impressive showing over Okami, and Wandy is a money fight if that happens as well. This isn’t the only money fight at MW for Anderson.

I think Wand asked for Leben when he gets back, but I like that fight too.
http://www.instrength.com
Wand / Leben makes sense. If Wand wins, he gets a shot.
If Wand loses we could see Nate vs the Bisping / Akiyama winner for a title shot.
If Belfort blasts Okami on free television, I think that PPV could sell.
“Anderson Silva faces the most dangerous striker of his career:”
That said, I think Okami wins a less than exciting decision.
Silva-Belfort would probably do pretty well
but nothing like Silva-Sonnen II. So point taken.
Tatum: I think he's a good man. I like him. I got nothing against him, but I'm definitely gonna make orphans of his children.

Note, Soares has consistently praised Chael Sonnen. He’s never personally attacked Sonnen despite the pre-fight trash talk dating back to the Maia fight.
Everybody stating that he’s taking the high road now:
- either are not aware of his previous statements
- OR have a short memory.

the following two things are signs of weaknesses:
stay silent when it's needed to speak up, and speak up when it's needed to stay silent.

I should take that back, you did mention “with class”, something that doesn’t ring right with DW :p

Professionalism from a manager does not equal class.

I agree that Sonnen has directly attacked Soares (whether you think this was promoting the fight or not doesn’t really matter) but again as a manager you are the business representative of the fighter and you don’t score points for avoiding dishing out on the record personal insults (especially when there is no money to be made in doing so).
"You should work for 15 minutes to knock your opponent out, submit him, or improve your position to give yourself the best chance of doing either." - Dan Hardy
Scores points with me.
You may be different, but I appreciate this especially because of some of the utter crap Chael has spewed Ed’s way.
I like Fedor, it’s just his fans that are intolerable...and his management.
Chael failing that test fucked Chael, Anderson, the middleweight division, and the UFC all at once.

I'm starting a new drinking game.
Whenever you hypocritically accuse someone of spin, mention pro wrestling where there’s no need to, bash MMA fans when you’re nothing but another fan, move the goalposts in an argument, or comment over 30 times in one story then I do a shot.
Given those rules, this comment may double as a suicide note.

I just don’t get it. Him shitting on Chael wouldn’t kill the fight anyway. Sonnen will get his shot no matter what. And there are other fights that are moneymakers out there. Soares could have gone either way with his comments and it wouldn’t have mattered. He chose the high road instead.

But I’ll go ahead and ask who you think is a bigger/better money fight for Silva?

I’m not saying there is a BETTER one out there. I’m saying that Belfort and Wandy are viable draws. He said that Sonnen was the ONLY money fight. I disagree with that, and his reasoning for Soares’ statements.

I'm going to start my own drinking game
Whenever you make a post about what I do or how I comment or write, I’m going to do a shot. But, since I’m not that heavily invested in what you do, I’m not going to do that.
Or, since I really bother you that much, you could just ignore me instead of repeatedly commenting about my posting style.

the following two things are signs of weaknesses:
stay silent when it's needed to speak up, and speak up when it's needed to stay silent.
He's ducking them all
He will demand that Dana put Nate, Okami, Belfort, and Leben in a one night tourney to determine who fights Anderson that night.

There's a lot of people
Who’d rather see Vitor than Chael, myself included, especially now.
I’m not saying there isn’t demand for a rematch but to pretend that Vitor won’t pull PPV’s is sort of silly.

Fair enough.
If Chael did cheat, then there’s no need to pile on him. He’ll have done enough damage to himself as it is, but if this is all some sort of misunderstanding, then it should be cleared up. Right now, it’s not looking good though.
Live UFC in HD on comcast?
i know this is totally the wrong place to post this but i dont know where else to, sorry :(
does anyone know how to order a live ufc event in hd from comcast? not even the idiots at comcast can tell me, though they assure me its possible! figure my fellow fight fans would know. anyone?
Go to the HD PPV channel the night of the fight and order it with your remote
The channel will say off air when there isn’t an event on it. My HD PPV channel is in the 800’s.

Any idea how the money works on this?
If the bout was already signed, what does Silva get if Chael gets suspended?

New information in article on MMAJunkie about Sonnen test – apparently it was high levels of testosterone.
California State Athletic Commission Executive Director George Dodd today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that Sonnen is currently under suspension and has 30 days to respond to the notice, which came nearly six weeks after his title fight with Silva at UFC 117.
Dodd said Sonnen tested positive for levels of testosterone “well above” normal.
Dodd said Sonnen was flagged first on Sept. 2 after an initial test revealed the presence of a performance-enhancer. A second, more-rigorous test confirmed the results. CSAC officials sent out the notice of a positive test this past Thursday, and Sonnen received it Friday. Dodd said he also notified the UFC of the results on Saturday.
CSAC enlists UCLA’s Olympic Analytical Laboratory to administer its drug tests. The laboratory is used by the U.S. Olympic Committee and is the world’s largest World Anti-Doping Agency-certified facility.
If Sonnen chooses not to appeal the test results, Dodd said, he will be suspended until Sept. 2, 2011, and will face a $2,500 fine.
Dodd said he has yet to hear from the fighter or his representatives.
The timing of the positive test could scratch the rematch unless Sonnen gets an appeal and resolution before the year’s end.
“We always say you want to make [the appeal] at the next commission meeting (from the notice),” Dodd said. “The next [meeting] after that probably won’t be until the following year, and from what I understand, he has a rematch with Anderson Silva possibly in February. He’ll probably be maintaining the suspension unless he gets on the agenda next time.”
CSAC officials today set a date and location for their next meeting: Dec. 2 in Sacramento.
good stuff
I’ll be hoping for the following :p
