Wow, that’s a pretty good fight. But with the trouble Galvao has had with guys who have good wrestling (Macaco, Jason High), this doesn’t look like a very winnable fight for him.

Galvao wins
Woodley hasn’t shown credible sub defense. Any takedowns by Woodley should induce a quick sweep and a sub win for Galvao
How can you say he hasn’t shown credible submission defense if no one has submitted him?

I’m not sure why you pop in to point this stuff out. You post rumors all the time, and when some come true you show up to crow about them? Why?

If you notice, lately he has been more and more accurate with the rumors he’s been posting. It looks like he’s done a good job nurturing his sources.
My question is: how long have Woodley and Galvao known they’d be fighting? I know it’s been rumored for awhile, but have they actually been training with Oct 9th in mind and it’s only the late signing that held up the announcement or is this kind of a last minute booking for them?
Both knew they were fighting on Oct. 9th for a while and both were supposed to fight each other on the Fedor vs Werdum fight.

pretty sweet card
Woodley has the look of a future champion and top prospect. His last fight against Coy certainly lowered his stock but an emphatic win against Galvao puts him right in line with the tops of the division.
For all the shit people give Strikeforce
They’re doing a decent job of developing fighters. Three fighters on this card (Woodley, Rockhold and Kaufman) all started out on the Challengers events or on prelims and after doing well have earned spots on the bigger show.

Woodley is kinda fucked
He’s too small to run with the big boys at WW, but he can’t make 155.
He struggled in his last fight against a lesser wrestler but a much bigger man. He’s said in the past that wrestling at 163lbs used to almost kill him.

It definitely needs to happen one day. A lot of guys fight outside their optimum weight for one reason or another.

I'm with you.
I think that day is still in the future, but I agree.
My only concern there comes from taking a look at boxing, although I can’t really see a good argument for the notion that the number of weight classes has done more damage to the image of champions than the big four organizations have.

Galvao didn’t look so hot on his last bout, but here’s a chance for the prospect to be ‘promising’ again.
That being said, I think Woodley takes this.

I like this matchup, but I feel that it could have been avoided at the same time. I personally just don’t feel it necessary to put two prospects fighting each other so soon. This is a great matchup, and I am glad both Woodley and Galvao are fighting on a big show instead of a Challengers card, but it really shows me that Strikeforce needs to sign some more journeymen/mid-tier fighters for these prospects to fight so that these prospects don’t have to fight each other. There are Welterweights out there like Chris Wilson, Ben Saunders, Steve Bruno, and many other mid-tier Welterweights out there that these two could fight.
strikeforce
has a very hard time giving the guys they already have under contract enough fights. I’m glad they’re putting their prospects in against each other. the winner will be red hot.
if steve bruno came in and beat one of these guys they’d have a damaged prospect and steve bruno.

I feel that is a risk that they have to take though, and Rafael Feijao Cavalcante is proof that even a loss to a mid-tier fighter (Mike Kyle) does not mean that fighter who lost cannot climb back up the ladder. I do see your point though especially since Strikeforce only has so much card space and so many fighters under contract. However, I feel that if Steve Bruno or some mid-tier fighter can beat one of these prospects, then these prospects really shouldn’t fight upper-tier competition. Pretty much, use gatekeepers or journeymen as they should be used: testing prospects and testing fighters to see if they can fight at a certain level or not.
