Compositionally, I think its generally a good design, but way undercooked. The color palette and textures are also less than desirable.
I guess I grade UFC posters on a curve
if they’re showing the whole face of the athletes, if they aren’t photoshopping nonsense onto their photos, if they aren’t making everything much too busy and crowded, I figure they’re ahead of the game.

Well, the photo choice is better, but the art direction and typography still suck just as bad. There’s still NO concept, no style, and it still looks like it took them an hour to do.

the flasw with a lot of them is that they are missing the fighters who are headling
but they are all really beautifully designed.
I guess I could do some google, but does anyone know if these old Pride posters are available to buy nowadays? Other than expensive on ebay and such I mean. Would be cool to get a hold of a couple of the best ones, there’s no way I’m plastering my walls with shitty looking UFC posters..

i get really fired up about this stuff. if a bad commercial runs, i will literally yell at my TV.
i mean, the angles of the two fighters and the cropping adds a lot of energy and movement, that’s a plus for the UFC poster. its just that any designer will look at that and realize it’s ten minutes worth of playing with filters and drop shadows, followed by five minutes looking for a “cool” font.

belts dont make cards
c’mon, marq vs paul harris was a GREAT card (minus the anticlimactic ending). You can’t judge by the top-ten rankings.
Belts has nothing to do with it.. there are basically no big names on this card, just a whole lot of low and mid level fighters in unimportant match-ups. What’s going to be the co-main event on this card, seriously? On paper it’s a very poor card, but don’t get me wrong, I’ll still watch it of course and hopefully enjoy it too. Looking forward to the main-event, other than that Winner – Siver has the potential to be really fun, Sakara – Rivera should also turn out good. Petruzelli – Vemola could also be entertaing. But it’s not exactly card of the year.

I don't watch cards "on paper"
The styles match well, or they don’t. Also, I don’t know a lot of the no-name guys starting out in the UFC, but this is the only way I ever learn, by watching them fight. I remember watching Jon Jones for the first time, and thinking “if they are giving him Bonnar, they must think highly of him or are even feeding Bonnar to him to build his brand” so I waitied to see that fight and was blown away.
Overall, this looks like a lot of crazy striking battles, and I think Belfort/Okami is REALLY exciting.
Can’t disagree with any of that, was just explaining why this card has little appeal to most fans. I also really enjoyed the latest UFN event by the way.

Unfortunatley I’m going to have to take Okami… I don’t want to… my heart says Vitor but the smart decision would be Okami
great fight in the main event but this card needs a decent co-main event….i’m hoping they still add one otherwise this is the main card i’d like to see:
befort/okami – great fight for title shot
rivera/sakara – great style match up of 185ers on winning streaks
winner/siver – siver is german and should make for a great stand up fight w winner
after those 3 its a toss up whats main card material… the sadollah fight possibly…and the mcray fight sicne both either won or were finalists on tuf..
ludwig vs oszipshak i like, should be fun…..and pascal karuas looks to be a very pormising new porspect

Pretty sure Okami vs Belfort was always for the next contender spot, regardless of the Sonnen situation.

This is true, but now they won’t have to wait as long for it. Hopefully whoever wins won’t catch a lot of damage and be ready to go early next year when Silva should be fully healed.

Crap card. Rivera/Sakara and Belfort/Okami are it. I also don’t want to pretend that Winner/Siver will end in a KO. It could but Winner has 2 KOs and 6 decisions.

Can we all acknowledge that a year or two ago, the UFC was doing WAY LESS events
and we need to understand that, when we get more product, more often, for free, that a dilution of talent per card is inevitable?

It’s leaps and bounds better than any Bellator card or Fight Night so why bitch? It is FREE.
If this was named a Fight Night 0 people would complain but for some reason they hold numbered events to a greater regard even when its free.
Two top 5 middleweights fighting on free TV? No complaints from me.

I hope they aren’t charging for this one. This has Spike written all over it. That means it’ll probably have the most exciting fights but still the matchups are all pretty much meh except the main event.

i clearly have no taste
because I love the poster (looks like a kung fu movie or kumate poster) and love the card too; seems like we’ve become too spoiled by the quality of UFC cards, this blows any Bellator card out of the water and I get excited about those fights so I guess I don’t get it….
