Thiago Alves responds to Mike Pierce calling him out:
Alves plans to text UFC president Dana White for a possible booking at UFC 123 on Nov. 20.
"I would be more than happy to beat [Pierce's] ass if the UFC allows me," Alves told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "I will show him some love, definitely."

He is a physical SPECIMEN
dude is a monster. I think with Dolce he’ll actually learn that he can’t be that big and make 170. I think we’ll see a leaner Alves next time around- Put him on the diet that Sanchez had to reach 155, fish and brown rice.
Pierce though, is a tough dude. I think he has a really good shot. I would love to see Alves back in form though.

He looked a little “soft” by his standards in his last fight, at least compared with how he looked against GSP and Hughes. I wonder what was up.

I’d call out Thiago too. It’s an easy 20% raise.

Boom Boom.
Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.
I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.
Alves easy. That could just be my hatred for Pierce coming through though.

I'm not saying Alves would lose, but...
Alves needs an easy fight first. The UFC shouldn’t risk him having all his standup stifled yet again, as Pierce is almost a Fitch clone. Put him up against Swick or the Kampmann-Shields loser, and tell him to work even more on his takedown defense before and after that fight. He’s very close to being able to fend off takedowns from everyone not named GSP.
Forget that
Softball matchmaking is for Strikeforce. Pierce isn’t even ranked, if Alves can’t beat him then he doesn’t deserve to be anywhere near the top of the division. The UFCs WW division is the deepest and toughest in the sport, there are no easy fights.

I'm not a fan of Alves's wrestling or ground game.
I know GSP makes anyone’s takedown defense or ground game look suspect, but he didn’t look good in that match or the Fitch match.
Isn’t Pierce just another fighter who looks to wrestle and make the fight “an ugly” on like Fitch did in 117?

Pierce’s wrestling, if Alves doesn’t have weight issues, should not be an issue. He’s not as a good of a wrestler as Fitch although he is just as relentless. If the Alves who fought GSP shows up (who although taken down a lot looked strong and in great shape), he should win without any issues.

I've got Alves..
Interesting that Mike Pierce knocked out Dolce…now wants to fight Alves who is working with Dolce…7 degrees of Dolce
This is why I love MMA
I’m a boxing guy, but you rarely get this in boxing anymore. Two guys calling each other out and just wanting to beat some ass. Usually it’s the little guy calling the big guy out, and the big guy’s response is “I fight who my promoter wants me to fight”.
Love to see it
Fearlessly taking the challenge from an unheralded up and comer.
This is a man who knows he’s in shit with the UFC and wants to stay at WW. But still – I like to see the balls.
HAHA!?

I'm not too jazzed about Alves mixing it up with yet another wrestler
If he’s not going to contend for a title shot, I’d sure like to see him in there against someone who’ll stand with him for more than 10 seconds.
Tatum: I think he's a good man. I like him. I got nothing against him, but I'm definitely gonna make orphans of his children.
If Alves can't take another wrestler...
what is he doing in the WW division where #1 and #2 both have amazing wrestling ability? Not to mention Jake Shields is in the mix now as well. If he doesn’t want or can’t take on and beat an unranked fighter whose primary skillset is wrestling, he needs to make earth shattering adjustments to his career.
There's a place in the division for guys who put on exciting fights
After getting dominated Fitch and GSP, it seems unlikely that Alves will challenge for the belt, but he’s still a badass who can put on an entertaining scrap. What the hell are we proving by having him get UD’d again? Let him get in there and do what he does well.
