This whole story is absolutely heartbreaking. I hope he regains his vision.

I really hope he gets better.
Hes just now coming into his prime as a fighter and i feel he could be a champ with another year or two of improvement

I pray that Alan makes full recovery, and hopefully we get to see the “Talent’s” talent again in the octogon.

God damn.
Fuck eye injuries. That’s scary shit. The possibility of losing your vision completely is absolutely terrifying. At this point it isn’t “I wonder if I can fight again” its “Lets hope I get to see for the rest of my life”.
Get well soon Alan.
Hard core MMA fan since UFC 99
You know the thing?
That’s not at all what it is for him, and I think we all know it. He’s thinking about when he can fight. He’s not asking “Can I fight again?” I guarantee every question to his doctor is “WHEN can I fight again?”
And then God created Saturn... and he liked it, so he put a ring on it.
Twitter me and what not.
Hope he makes a full recovery
Would he be allowed to fight with permanently diminished vision in one eye if it’s no longer an “injury”?
Some boxers got pretty good at faking a vision test. But I hope he doesn’t go that route. Better for everyone to move on if it’s not meant to be.

Once a person suffers a detached retina, it becomes very easy to become detached again after being repaired.
I was 6 when I got scratched in the eye by a cat causing a detached retina (and other problems). I am now 30. Two weeks ago I got hit in the eye by a baseball and it caused the retina to once again detach.
I can only imagine that the athletic commissions will not approve his license due to the possibility of the retina becoming detached again after being hit.

That really does suck.
I wish him the best and hope he can get over it and carry on with his career.
On that note, atleast we now know the dangers of staring at Sexyama directly for too long.

It was def lighthearted
And no attempt to make fun of the man. Come on people, look at all the fun poked at marcus davis’ picture last weekend. For all we know there could be something just as bad. I respect Belcher anddo honestly wish him the best. Its serious stuff. I blame the internet for influencing such a joke.Get well Alan

you call me francis, and I’ll kill ya
Get well soon Alan
Belcher is an exciting fighter and a great personality. The MW division misses him
Tatum: I think he's a good man. I like him. I got nothing against him, but I'm definitely gonna make orphans of his children.
was this injury from an actual UFC fight?
or did he get it training?
We have a saying back home that if your coming on, COME ON!!!!
http://www.mmafighting.com/2010/08/10/alan-belcher-im-not-even-really-thinking-about-fighting-right/
“Belcher lost his vision in his right eye all of a sudden while training in Brazil and and returned to the U.S. soon after for emergency surgery. A detached retina occurs when the inner layer of the retina, a thin membrane of nerve tissue, separates from the wall of the eye and according to Belcher, the detached retina might have been from tears in his retina from “getting hit in the head probably in training” and the pressure on the airplane might have worsened his condition. "
o shit yea that makes sense
airplane pressure is probably the worst thing he coulda done to it

We need the Talent back!
Alan is one of the most entertaining fighters to watch. He gets in the cage, gives it his all, and look for the finish. I love watching him throw those devastating kicks. We need him back in the UFC ASAP.
My prayers are with you Alan. I hope you get healthy soon.
Get well soon Alan
I’m an Alan Belcher fan, he is one heck of a figher. Sending my best wishes for a full recovery.
