Arona

Ricardo Arona: One Win Away from UFC Status

"I spoke to Dana White, he was very amicable, every fighter in the UFC were very amicable towards me. They were all asking if I was going to fight for the UFC and all. And Dana told me that it would be interesting for me to compete in one more fight before competing in the UFC, so that I wouldn’t stay inactive and also so that they could analyze my performance as well. I thought that was fair in one way and not fair in another. For one, I think I can come back with everything because I know what I’m capable of doing inside [the octagon]. But if this is a formality and something determined by the promotion, I see nothing wrong with it. I have lots of options right now, I received calls from Abu Dhabi and also from many other countries that are organizing important promotions and I think that’s great, I see nothing wrong with it. From what I’ve seen in this weight class from the champions, what I have to say is that without a doubt, once I get there I will get the belt"

-- Ricardo Arona went on to say that he’s been inactive because he was recovering from a surgery he underwent for injuries he received during the Marvin Eastman fight in December of last year (meniscus and ACL injury) and that he expects to be cleared to fight by December.

Best of luck to Arona. I think he would be a good add and i always root for guys coming back from injury.

I know he has been looking toward the UFC for the last couple of years, so hopefully a nice win and he will be in.

I guess Dana thinks Arona is damaged goods.

It’s hard not to think that.

The guy has been semi-retired for four years. I don’t think it is unreasonable to want to see him compete before giving him a contract, especially considering he is coming off an injury.

If Arona makes it to the UFC and Chuck wants another fight, I think they should put it together. It’s a perfect stylistic match-up for Chuck while still offering a decent opponent.

Other than that fight I have absolutely no need to watch Ricardo Arona fight ever again.

Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.

I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.

I have been a big Arona fan for years.

Im looking forward to seeing Ricardo in the UFC. It’s not asking too much for him to beat someone else before getting the golden ticket. UFC is stacked at LHW and if Arona doesn’t get atune up fight against a top caliber tough fighter, he will be thrown to the wolves. There is some talent at LHW but, UFC has the cream of the crop. I think, a fight with Jardine would be a good stepping stone. Keith is looking to make a name and so is Arona. The promoter that books this fight is gonna have a war. Nothing promises an exciting fight more then two hungry fighters, trying to make their way up to the big show.

If Russia attacked Turkey from the rear, Do you think Greece would help?

lol and I also find it funny that on the “related Ricardo Arona links” all three stories about Arona feature the exact same picture of him on the beach. You should totally change it to that for this story just for continuity sake.

haha

there’s two with different pictures though, it’s time for a change hehe

the following two things are signs of weaknesses:
stay silent when it's needed to speak up, and speak up when it's needed to stay silent.

He better not take his tune up fight lightly. He struggled with Marvin Eastman in his last fight, and will be coming off an injury. If he does win, there are a ton of good match-ups at LHW for him in UFC so he will be a good fit.

Give him someone easy

I don’t think Zuffa is interested in giving him someone easy. I think they are interested in seeing if he has anything left in the tank. They’re going to challenge him, not coddle him.

Wasn't there a report saying that he was making his UFC debut in November or December?

My avatar has Bas Rutten and Terry Funk in it...therefore it's the manliest avatar on SB Nation.
