As with every major show, BloodyElbow.com will be here to bring you live results and commentary for Bellator 29. The live blog will start with the beginning of the Fox Sports broadcast (at 8PM ET) so make sure to make Bloody Elbow your home for this event.
As always we have our one rule: NO SPOILERS! In the interest of not ruining anything from the undercard that may make the broadcast we ask that you do not discuss the results of the undercard in the comments until either the broadcast ends or the fight makes the air.
Cole Konrad (5-0) vs. Damian Grabowski (13-0)
Neil Grove (9-2-1) vs. Alexey Olenik (28-5-1)
Nick Mamalis (15-5) vs. Jameel Massouh (22-7)
Matt Major (6-2) vs. Brett Cooper (11-6)
First up:
Matt Major vs Brett Cooper: Cooper moving up from welterweight after losing in the tournament. Cooper a veteran of the TapouT show. Round 1 They meet in center cage. Body kick by Cooper. Leg kick by Cooper. Major firing jabs and circling away. Overhand by Major. Cooper backing Major up, Major circles away. Major is cut. Punch kick combo lands from Cooper. Misses with a kick. Major tries a spinning back fist. Cooper shoots in, gets a take down. Cooper firing down with punches. Backs off and lands kicks. Major stands, eats an uppercut getting up. More leg kicks from Cooper. Body punch from Cooper. Major circles to cage center. Leg kick from Major. Both men winging and missing to end the round. Bloody Elbow scores it 10-9 Cooper. Round 2 Cooper once again taking cage center. Major jabbing. Cooper lands a left. Cooper back to the leg kicks, shoots in, gets Major down. Major shrimping, Cooper nailing him! Lands again and again! Major's hurt! Ref steps in and stops the action. Brett Cooper wins by TKO 1:27 of Round 2.
Neil Grove vs. Alexey Olenik Olenik brings his wife Tatiana to every fight. Olenik's day job is stunt man. This fight shows one virtue of Bellator's slow-motion tournament format. Grove won a quick and easy fight, Olenik survived a war. Now both men have had a chance to recover. Round 1 Grove with a leg kick. Another. Olenik tries to clinch. Gets shrugged off. Grove drops Olenik with a body kick! Huge right hands to a downed Olenik. Ref steps in. Grove wins by TKO over Olenik at 0:45 of Round 1.
Cole Konrad vs. Damian Grabowski Two undefeated fighters and the commentators can't resist pulling out the ol' "someone's 0 has got to go!" I'm bracing myself for three long rounds. Round 1 Immediate double leg take down by Conrad. Straight into side mount. Conrad kneeing to the body. Grabowski bucks. More knees to the body. Grabowski clearly not liking them. Conrad goes for the crucifix. Grabowski gets to 1/2 guard, working for a kimura, nothing there. Conrad landing small punches. Conrad looking for a keylock. Nothing. Forearm in throat. Left hand to the face of the Pole. He threatens the stockade -- made famous by Brock Lesnar against Frank Mir. Bell rings. Bloody Elbow scores this one 10-9 Conrad. Round 2 They strike in center cage a little longer this round before Confrad takes Grabowski down from the clinch. Back to 1/2 guard. Grabowski going for a kimura. Conrad throwing punches. They're up close to the fence. Restart! Grabowski lands an uppercut and a leg kick. Conrad with a leg kick. Grabowski shoots?!? Immediately put on his back by Conrad. Back to 1/2 guard. More knees to the body. Conrad trying a kimura. Then switches to a key lock. Nothing there. More sluggish battery to end the round. Bloody Elbow scores it 10-9 Conrad. Round 3 Conrad with an immediate take down to full guard. Grabowski gets back to his feet when Conrad tries to pass guard. The ref stops it to get tape cut off Grabowski's glove. Grabowski trips Conrad! Working for a guillotine. Conrad escapes. Grabowski fires a knee. Why is he clinching with Conrad?!? Conrad eats a knee to get a take down. Conrad in 1/2 guard. Punching to the armpit. Wow, very quick restart by the ref! Grabowski lands a hard right hand. Clinches again, lands a knee. Leg kick by Conrad. Conrad with another take down. Back to 1/2 guard. More punches to the body. Grabowski working for a kimura. Nothing there. Bloody Elbow scores it 10-9 Grabowski. Too little too late. Cole Konrad takes a unanimous decision.
Nick Mamalis vs. Jameel Massouh Round 1 Mamalis tries a flying knee. Mamalis shoots, eats a bunch of knees to the body and maybe one low one too. Mamalis clinches Massouh up against the cage. Massouh fends him off. Mamalis steps in behind a stiff right. Push kick by Massouh. More kicks by Massouh. Hard right by Massouh. Size advantage telling here for Massouh. Mamalis shoots, picks him up. Massouh goes for a guillotiine. Forces Mamalis to let him go. Mamalis picks him up again, gets locked in a guillotine! Falls to the ground and taps. Jameel Massouh wins by submission.

Mamalis/Goldsby is off, Goldsby was put back into the BW tourney after Useless pulled out with a staph infection. Mamalis is fighting Jameel Massouh tonight, who was bumped up. Goldsby will be fighting Zak Mackovsky in the next couple of weeks.

To be fair
Bellator told him that his fight was off, and no replacement. So he stopped cutting. 2 hours later, and this is all on the day of the weight ins, mind you, they tell him he’s fighting, and still has to make 140.
And to be fair, he did weigh in at 141 2 hours after the original weigh-in.

Possible, but I have no interest in any of the heavyweight fights that Bellator has.

Neil Grove smashing Eddie Sanchez was fun as shit. Olenik has a lot more of a ground game than Sanchez but Grove might bash another victim right out. Or he might get submitted quickly. Either way will be fun. Cole Konrad on the other hand…

Grove did well against Sanchez, assumed all the UK HW’s would get owned against better competition. Grove famously beat Robert Berry after Berry had Grove mounted for a whole round, and was so tired from being on top that he couldn’t continue to the 3rd

i was excited several times
when Grabowski got back to his feet and then when he actually got the take down — as stupid as that was — and then threatened with a choke. Conrad is ripe to lose if he doesn’t tighten up his game considerable.

Meh, Grabowski landed one big shot in the whole fight. He missed a TD earlier, then got one in the 3rd for about 2 seconds. I can definitely see Cole losing, but that was a very boring fight to me.

As boring as Konrad is
I’m sill holding out hope that he gets some subs in his game. I think the bjj game will suit his style better than an aggressive GnP style. With his top control he could get some subs with arm triangles, kimuras, and americanas.
the last fight was pretty good.
and Grove is fun to watch against overmatched competition.
