Bummer about KJ and Nick next month...
A shame the Diaz vs Noons fight has already been announced. In terms of relevance in the division a fight with Daley would have made more sense than Noons, who presumably is in the LW title picture.
Strikeforce can be a bit nutty with these things though…
Of course Daley has to actually make weight for it to be a title fight anyway.
There is no rush.
It isn’t like there is a long list of contenders.
We will probably see Daley vs Scott Smith or Robbie Lawlor in a catch weight some time in the next little while.
Great matchmaking.
Both fights would be awesome slugfests.
Daley vs Cung is big money fight, IMO.

I say Nick beats him pretty easily.
Diaz doesn’t have the best takedowns in the sport by any stretch of the imagination but Daley has some of the worst defense. Diaz’s chin will come through for him in the first and he’ll get an armbar or a choke.

If Noons wins, though...
We could have the belt being passed around. Noons beats Diaz, Daley Beats Noons (a natural MW vs a natural LW), Diaz beats Daley.
While I didn’t see his Shark Fights scrap, I’m going to go ahead and disagree with you.
It seems like Daley has been working his wrestling and guard game gradually over time. Yes, Kos made him look stupid, but boy can that man wrestle. At least he didn’t get submitted.
I didn’t see his Shark Fights scrap
So you have no frame of reference here Donny.
Masvidal, a natural LW that tends to stand and trade and has little to no wrestling background took Daley down whenever he wanted. Diaz could likely do the same and has the size and skill to keep Daley on the floor when it gets there.

Let’s just go ahead and revisit the scene. I think it would be helpful:

regardless
of the way he is outside of the cage/octagon, he’s still an exciting fighter to watch and a great signing for SF. Barnett, Masvidal and now Daley, all in a week’s time. 3 great additions to SF. I’m excited
Barnett and Daley
Are liabilities and are just incidents waiting to happen. Sorry if I don’t get excited for that.

But I find both men pretty objectionable and the term “professional” is used pretty loosely when describing both fighters.

i would disagree
fundamentally, you bring the person you are outside the cage into the fight with you. class shows. conversely, if you don’t have any class, it shows. if you’re professional in the way you conduct yourself, you’ll be that way both in and out of the cage.

you will live a life of disappointment. More often than not, Daley puts on highly watchable fights. His trash talk is word class and he is a great matchup for much of the slugger-rich SF ww division. He doesn’t have to be Godfather to your kids. Just relax and enjoy the ride.

Daley looked like shit against Masvidal
Particularly his takedown defense. Jorge took him down at will, and Jorge is is a blown up 155 pounder who isn’t exactly known for his wrestling.

Did Daley stuff more than one takedown?
If he got taken down any time Masvidal tried to take him down than he was taken down at will. It doesn’t matter if he gets up afterwards or that Masvidal didn’t go for as many takedowns as he should have, the point is Daley’s TDD is still sorely lacking.

i’m not trying, i’m just arguing your points. i personally thought daley took it in his stride and got on with life, i have never been under the impression that he seems mistreated by the ufc, yeah he said dana has never spoke to him personally but i dont think he cares. he is just answering questions in an interview it’s not like he is posting a Vblog or on the UG saying “ZOMG DANA MISTREATED ME!!”

Winner/Lentz is NOT the worst fight anyone has seen
Give me a break, hyperbole doesn’t really help anything.
As far as Daley goes, the ridicule and scrutiny he receives is his own fault. He consistently misses weight, sucker punches and opponent after a fight, and while he apologizes in the days following, months later he criticizes Dana White, claiming he owes Daley something despite the fact that it was Daley who decided to throw a sucker punch.
Taking shots at Daley isn’t difficult because there are so many things about him that leave him open to legitimate criticism.

Daley is a detriment to MMA and everything positive it stands for.
It’s a shame any organization is going to be giving this loser a paycheck. Not surprised that organization is Strikefarce.
Don't gain the world and lose your soul, wisdom is better than silver or gold.
What does it stand for exactly?
The redeeming grace of beating the hell out people? For a sport that is centered around bloody violence, MMA sure attracts a lot of puritans.

Nice point! There are some fighers who seem like all-american kids from Leave It to Beaver, but most are tattooed thug looking dudes, who talk about how they are gonna f-up the next guy they fight. Nobody who is a fan of MMA complains about the blood and violence, but if a guy who looks like a thug and talks like a thug acts like a thug (GASP !!) KICK HIM OUT OF THE SPORT!!!!!!!!
Beating the hell out of people
In a situation with defined rules, regulations, and a referee. Perhaps my pure, unabashed dislike for Daley clouds my opinion. But you cannot say that what Daley did was a positive step for MMA as a whole. Why do you think Dana cut him? Because no one cares?
Don't gain the world and lose your soul, wisdom is better than silver or gold.
Don't get me wrong
I 100% agree what he did was wrong, I agree with cutting him from the UFC. My point is look at the big picture. When these guys come to the pre-fight weigh ins they aren’t sporting busines suits. They have skull and deathead shirts. We as fans of an alpha male testosterone driven sport expect a certain level of violence and thuggery. In fact we encourage it. If there is no action we boo, we tune in to hear all the current trash talk…The UFC releases videos of the best KOs. They don’t release dvds of the best moments of sportsmanship. If we want guys tobe animals in the cage, you can’t be too surprised or upset when they act like it.
Right, I get it, and despite my pure, unabashed enjoyment of Daley, I’ve never condoned what he did to Kos, but what I’ve said all along is that the hate for Daley doesn’t seem to match his wrongdoing.
I also find it a little strange that so many MMA hardcores get so profoundly indignant about a violent guy losing his temper. I know we all hate Gus Johnson here, but violent guys losing their tempers is kind of part of the package with combat sports — or really all contact sports for that matter.

as he should be.
a one-trick pony that isn’t even good at one trick isn’t a one-trick pony, it’s a shitty no-trick pony

i never noticed before but mclovin landed on right on daley’s chin as daley was landing one on his. if mc lovin had some power in his hands it could have turned out different
The sea refuses no river. The idea is to remain in a state of constant departure while always arriving. It saves on introductions and goodbyes. The ride does not require explanation - just occupance.

i didn’t say Daley was a no trick pony, I was agreeing with Steve4192 that Daley is really good at his one trick (striking), and stating that if he wasn’t a really good striker, he would be a no-trick pony.
now please tell me why i had to explain that.

unless i'm mistaken
daley is a muay thai world champion.
and when 18 of your 25 wins have come by ko that kinda qualifies you as a ko machine
i don’t like the guy at all but there’s no point in trying to discredit his accomplishments

Paul Daley
This maybe a big signing for Strikeforce, but this guy has no ground game,or takedown defense.Jake Shields put Daley down and he couldn’t get up.The guy barely beat Jorge Masvidal at Shark Fights.

damnit….he should have came in fresh off his loss to koscheck, he would have gotten an immediate title shot.
