UFC Fight Night 22: Charles Oliveira Submits Efrain Escudero
A dynamic Oliveira was certainly on display early. A series of excellent leg and middle kicks combined with well-timed albeit stuffed shots came courtesy the Brazilian. Leg kicks were also part of Oliveira's game, although most landed to the outside. Eventually a stuffed shot from Oliveira allowed Escudero to work from half guard for some time before Oliveira recaptured full guard. In so doing, though, Escudero landed a couple of beautiful elbows from top position.
The second round opens with Oliveira actually achieving a single leg dump only to get his back taken and Escudero return to his feet. However, a series of brutal leg and middle kicks began to land for Oliveira. A few takedown attempts for Escudero go nowhere while Oliveira continued to nail the Mexican with leg and middle kicks.
The third round opens with a groin kick to Escudero, but the damage is minimal. The tide is turned, so to speak, when Oliveira is nailed with a groin kick in the clinch. After the action is restarted a failed kick turned into a scramble. Escudero was taken down from a grabbed kick. As he stood his back was taken and from there it was academic. Despite not having the full throat, Oliveira submitted the game Escudero.
Charles Oliveira submits Efrain Escudero at 2:25 of round three.

with more aggressive Jiu Jitsu
He’s slick and to the point with his BJJ. He doesn’t hesitate at all when an opening is available or to create an opening. His striking is good enough to make people think twice about taking him down. I would love to see him fight Dunham, Guida or either Jim or Cole Miller.
Submissions
I wonder if the oddballs who actually cheer for takedowns were disappointed that tonight’s submissions by Oliveira and Miller didn’t come after grabbing a man behind his legs and driving him to the mat (=

nice win for Oliveira, but i’m done with Escudero the guy has become a nutjob as of late i’m sure that Nog would be disgusted to see the fighter and person he’s turned into.

He's turning into
the lightweight version of Paulo Filho
Jonathan Snowden: Winning fights against nobodies in Brazil and winning fights in the UFC are two different things. Escudero by stoppage.
Being snarky and being right are two different things. Suck it down Thomathan Snowdios.
Seriously though, that was a great display by Charles Aloe Vera.

Don't know if was said before
But “Oliveira” means olive tree.

Consider me on the bandwagon
If there isn’t one then I’m forming it. That was a stunning win, and he is only 20 years old. Color me impressed.

I’m riding shotgun. This guy is already one of my favorite fighters. His bone structure is great for kicks, too. He looks a little like a bigger Aldo.

his defense astounded me. he didn’t overconfidently leave openings hardly at all, and destroyed efrain. tonight was the night where long lanky fighters took a stand against being knocked out! stefan struve, take note!

What we perceived as hyperactive jooking
Was actually Aloe Vera vibrating at a frequency that is not fully visible by the human eye.

I think we're a tad early on the hype train
It was an impressive and entertaining win for sure, but Escudero is not exactly high on the totem pole at LW. Biggest problem for Olivera was his lack of power. He landed a lot of strikes, but none of them seemed to hurt Escudero much (other than the groin shot of course ;).
I consider myself a softcore fan.
