It didn't take long to get to the mat, but it didn't take long to get back to the feet. It was a close fight throughout.
Off of a leg kick, Gleison Tibau took Miller to the mat., but could do nothing with it. Soon after getting back to the feet, a stiff jab wobbled Tibau, but the Brazilian quickly got the New Jersey native to the mat. Again, however, Miller's preparation allowed him to use a guillotine attempt to stand. Miller also went for his own takedown, but could get nowhere. However, with no set-up, Miller was able to land several jabs and leads on the Brazilian, displaying a much more precise striking game than he's displayed in previous fights.
The second round started with a monster left hand from Miller that stumbled Tibau badly. Miller followed up with several takedown attempts, but couldn't make it happen. Great timing on a takedown by Tibau, but Miller was able to get back with a high guard attack. Another well-timed takedown by Tibau works after the fighters traded punches for a couple of minutes. The round ended with Tibau in Miller's guard.
Third round opens with a left hand from Tibau, but doesn't rock Miller. After a minute and a half into the round, Miller began to attack with more frequency. Halfway through Tibau attempted a knee tap, but was completely stuffed. With two minutes left, Miller attempted a takedown against the fence, but could get nowhere. Miller shot with 45 seconds left, but was stopped by Tibau. A final attempt from Tibau is thrown by by Miller.
The judges scored this fight 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 for Jim Miller.
