UFC Undisputed has been pushed to 2012:
"THQ has announced the upcoming release schedule for the company’s 2012 fiscal year. Of note is that the next UFC game will not be out until January or February of 2012."
"THQ have shifted expectations and have decided that the next UFC game will have an 18+ month development cycle."

This is good for the game I think.
but I hope they release downloadable fighters. Hell they had Gomi in the Japanese demo of the game.
a WEC expansion pack is needed
what better way to market the little guys then with a video game
We have a saying back home that if your coming on, COME ON!!!!
lol.
Am I some kind of unreliable guy who makes things up now? Read Nightmare of Battle’s post on the Japanese release of undisputed. They mentioned Gomi playing as his character.

Great news
The game needs more development time and there really isn’t enough annual roster turnover to justify a new release every year. Every other year feels about right.
I like this
if anything they should just forego announcing any future date and just put the game out when they think it’s ready to be put out. Seems it didn’t take them long to recognize their mistake, but then again when the money dries up even a crack head will get coherent on you real quick.
Josh Barnett is a thrice proven juicer with a pro wrestling mindset and a personality that would lead you to believe he's never had a romantic encounter that didn’t start with "you gotta pay me upfront."
ive given up hope on THQs ability to make a great UFC game
both versions are fun, but very very flawed games
We have a saying back home that if your coming on, COME ON!!!!
fight night round 3 was VERYYYYYYYYYY flawed.
but it was fun. And that’s the point right?

UFC should cancel their partnership with THQ.
Their development team just isn’t good enough, compared to EA Sports.
EA is on the Zuffa shit list.
EA wanted no part of an MMA game when Zuffa approached them, and then turned around and produced their own knockoff of the genre once Undisputed 2009 became a smash success. Dana/Lorenzo/Frank all hold grudges against companies who dissed them in the past and show extreme loyalty to companies who got on board with them when the going was tough. Zuffa will ride out the tough times with THQ because THQ showed faith in them when nobody else would.
Wow
You got that from the press release? Could you create a more biased version? Bravo. Didn’t know it was possible to ape UFC talking points – most of which are demonstrably false – more than you did. Quite a feat.

I didn’t know you could, unprovoked, come across any more snarky and rude than you normally do.
Kudos.

That’s the only information out about it. Do they have any links to the real side of the story? Not everyone has behind the scenes information to go off of.

Both sides are probably right
I have no doubt that UFC approached EA about making a UFC game, and judging from when the partnership with THQ was announced this happened sometime in 2006. This was back when EA had very little interest in doing games that weren’t proven commodities. If you ever hear people bitching about how evil EA was, it’s most likely because of things that happened prior to 2007. To sum it up back then EA very much had a quantity over quality mentality.
In 2007 is when EA made a huge change by bringing in Peter Moore to head up EA sports (John Riccitiello took over running EA during this time as well, and he’s very much credited for changing the direction of the company because he is a huge gamer). For those that don’t follow video games Peter Moore was a huge part in making Xbox a competitive brand in video gaming, he’s a gifted public speaker and has a very keen sense for how the business of video games works. He’s also the guy who turned Sega into a software only company and most likely prevented them from going completely bankrupt at the time.
Dana White and Lorenzo may very well have a legitimate gripe when they say EA wasn’t interested in making a UFC game, the problem is blaming EA in it’s current state is like blaming the Fertittas for stuff that happened in the UFC back in the 90s.
Now granted none of this is fact and I could be completely wrong about everything, but all the times do match up and there was a definite shift in how EA does business in the last few years. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see the UFC sign a deal with EA once their THQ contract is up and act as if all this never happened.

That would be nice but, I would like THQ to help with the game. I don’t see a deal with EA happening unless they stop using SF and Dream fighters for their game.

i see ea mma bombing
ufc 2010 didnt sell well and it had brock lesnar on the cover and the entire ufc hype machine and roster on its side along with great reviews
ea mma doenst have anything near that power to market their game, i cant imagine this game is successful no matter how good it is
We have a saying back home that if your coming on, COME ON!!!!
I was at a presser for EA Sports MMA just last week
I never got any game time in but some journalists whom are good friends did; they said it pisses all over the THQ game in terms of playability and overall presentation.
One friend in particular – whom doesn’t own a games console – commented that THQ’s offerings didn’t inspire him to shell out for a 360 or PS3… he now has firm plans to get a console for the release of EA’s title.

Thanks for that.
I knew some, but not all, of those details.
THAT was a helpful and insightful post.
most of which are demonstrably false
How about you enlighten me rather than being a self-important jackass?
Everything I have read on the subject agrees that EA turned them down flat and let the MMA game rot in development hell until suddenly taking it out of mothballs in the spring of 2009 when the Undisputed sales numbers started to trickle in.
If you can provide me with sources that disprove that version of events, I would be more than willing to read them and change my position. Of course, that is probably expecting too much from you. You are too busy feeling superior to stoop to having a meaningful conversation with one of the poor slobs who frequents this site.
Have fun imagining you are better than everyone else. Quite a delusion.
I love the memes around the staff here.
Kid Nate: Does anything for pageviews!
Luke: Too self important!
Fagan: FIGHTER BASHING!
Snowden: Hates the UFC!
It’s really easy to re-use those canned responses and kill any chance at discussion. You ever think that the Editor-in-fucking-Chief of the site doesn’t need to show up in comments sections, and that most of what you said was just bashing him instead of looking to learn anything new?
"Someone is WRONG on the internet. What do you want me to do? LEAVE? Then they'll keep being wrong!"

Huh?
He responded to me. I didn’t say anything to provoke such a response. If he wants to tell me I am full of shit that is fine. But if someone tells me that, I would appreciate a little more than a snarky hit and run response. I would prefer he tell me WHY I am wrong.
Treating people with a modicum of respect is not asking too much IMO.
Somehow this keeps going over peoples heads...
This site belongs to Luke and Nate. We are in their house. We are guests and they are the hosts. We are not equals here. That’s the nature of the beast.
Have you tried emailing Luke, or addressing him in any other fashion than snapping back here? Unsurprisingly, all the staff here has been friendly and responsive whenever I’ve reached out to them. But I also avoid acting pissy and entitled towards them, so you may have a different experience.

Here's the thing
(and for what it’s worth, pdl, I do tend to find myself agreeing with many of your points in discussion on the site) but the traditional role of a host is to, well, host. Some measure of politeness and even temperament is typically appreciated. Maybe it’s a throwback to expected etiquette of yesteryear, but the host is typically held to a higher standard… and in my estimation should want to do the same for himself.
Rereading the initial exchange I don’t see what you’re seeing. As it reads to me is Steve comments on the UFC’s loyalty to THQ as he and many of us understand it to be from their perspective, and Luke chimes in with a comment basically calling him an idiot and adding nothing else. Steve didn’t go after anybody.
But maybe I’m missing something here.

You aren’t missing anything. If Luke wants to act like a dick, its well within his rights as a staff member. However you’d think someone in his position would want to actually inform the readers here, instead of blowing them up.

Zuffa needs to wake up
and realize that business is business. Dana needs to realize that the world isn’t Boston and you can’t shit list anyone if they want to make dollars out of cents. So a company shunned you & then turned face and wants to buy in…big deal. He pulls this all the time with fighters, promotions, apparel…it just makes him look petty & makes Zuffa look less than professional.

Excellent news...
They really haven’t done a very good job at making these UFC games fun or exciting to play. As much as I loath EA Sports and Strikeforce to some degree, their MMA game looks to be very polished and have a great online component. Plus being able to add in any fighter to the game means UFC fighters will be there in some capacity. And you can fight for belts online. Count me in!
Only thing is this game has got to deliver. If it isn’t leaps and bounds improved from the last installment the it will be seen as a major fail. Extended time is great as long as you put out a much better game. THQ has there work cut out for them. Amazing Improvement or huge disappointment

wrestling games have been a corner stone for THQ over the past decade. Hope they spend a lot more time on Create a Fighter mode as it is where majority of gamers go as soon as they pop in the game. Thats how i have always been anyways

Yeah they should take a page out of the Raw Smackdown series. You can upload your own walkout music and video (from YouTube). I haven’t watched wrestling in years but I’ll pick up a wrestling game for $20 in the used bin any day.

They would have to have a entrance first but yeah i like that idea i mean that is part of the PPV experience i think if you work ya way up to Main Card Status you should be able to choose ya own music and entrance style. Its a small part of the UFC experience but its still a part of it and its currently missing from the franchise.

Fucking A, I'll be buying it it 2012 then.
I guess that’s good I haven’t even finished a career yet on the new one. Maybe in two years they will have finally figured out the damn lag issues online

Twitter me and what not.
They need the time to make it more realistic
In order to make it like the UFC they need 18 months to make 95 % of the fights 1 guy lying on top of the other for 15-25 minutes.
they need monthly updated rosters
that would help keep the game interesting

I like how fighters can get knocked down 6 times in a fight and spring back up to their feet
They have to fix the stand-up game and also the ref should be able to stop the fight when you’re out on your feet.

the fact that its hard to get to a decision in 2010 proves how messed up the game is
still far better than 2009 which was pretty bad to be honest… at least fighters have the right move-sets now.
Neither games are top 50 in the fighting genre… I actually heard someone say UFC 2009 was the best fighting game ever made…. I guess he has never played Street Fighter, Soul series, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, Capcom Vs series, Darkstalkers, Guilty Gear, etc..
2009 was named the best fighting game of the year in Game Informer (or Game Pro) I believe. Although you never know if mags like that get their pockets lined. It can be better, but it’s a good start to the series especially for people who are casual fans.
the fact that its hard to get to a decision in 2010 proves how messed up the game is
I think they had to do some things to make the game fun. I never saw anybody put 100+ points on Florida, but I did it in NCAA. You know what I mean?
If you want to hear my opinion on Les Miles go to BJPenn.com.
Well… I did the review for GamePro and I can tell you, I had no pockets lined. Not even an offer, I tells ya.
you must be playing on the easiest difficulty to put 100+ points up
some people like games with challenge and depth. something 2009 didn’t offer. 2010’s challenge is all KO based since flash KOs happen like crazy.
If any actual gamer thought 2009 was better than Tekken 6 they are nuts.
both UFC games are fun to mess around with friends in
but they aren’t a great fighting game. you either haven’t played many fighting games or are just lying to yourself if you think that.
Play Soul Edge, play SF2, play BlazBlue and tell me thats a better game. I know those actually take time to learn though so I guess if you want something simple UFC will do.
I do enjoy the UFC games, pre-ordered both and enjoyed both. but they got a lot of flaws that could’ve been fixed. it could become a great fighting series in the future and I hope it does but I think EA Sports MMA has a better chance, FNR4 was pretty good.
All American (2nd Hardest) but I’ve played NCAA\Madden pretty much my whole life. I’m not saying the games lights out either, just that some big Gamer mags gave it rave reviews. I’m not into fighters very much. RPG>Sports>Shooters >fighters for me. I thought Undisputed had some intricate controls, but like I said I don’t really play fighters often. (Soul Caliber and Smash bros FTW)
For what it’s worth Undisputed is on for at least 6 hours before a PPV as me and my friends pregame.
