Quote of the Day 2: Josh Koscheck Embraces Bad Guy Role to Make Money
"Being loved or hated, ya know what? It's about making money for me. So if I've got to be the bad guy to make money, then I'll be the bad guy to make money.
...
"It's never bugged me, from day one. I know who I am as a person. I know the people around me know me. I'm not here to make friends - I'm here to make money. I have enough friends. The people around me care about me and love me, and it's the same relationship back. I'm not trying to make friends here. I'm here to make money. It's a business."
Josh Koscheck talks to Ariel Helwani.

The best way to make money is to be good...
Kos has acted like a jerk begining with TUF. Too bad, because he is pretty damn good as well. Here’s to GSP crushing you so you can go back to being a prick to make money.

So you’d be happy to see Kos lose? Maybe you’d willingly pay to see Kos get beaten? I think you get it.

That's not my point. He will only make so much money by being a jerk,
but he would make a good deal more if he was a better fighter. Don’t get me wrong, he is a good fighter, but being a jerk to make money is the easy way out. Be the best and the money come to you.
Only so much? With TUF I bet Kos nets three mill this year, easily.

I am not disputing that amount, but would love to see where that figure comes from.
I have never seen any report of what the coaches get paid.
Trying to remember where I read how much Ken made for season three of TUF I’m pretty sure Tito made five mill just need to find the article.

I think it was during a Howard Stern interview if I remember correctly Howard kind of punked Tito and asked who was worth more him or Jenna. Stern damn well knew the answer was Jenna by a landslide.

Being old to enough to live through her prime
I don’t know what is crazier:
that people used to pay for porn, or that she used to be hot as fucking fuck.
BOOSH
Ken got a cut of PPVs, Josh doesn't
But I know he’s gonna net about a million from that fight alone
Plus stipend, plus the increase in sponsorships

How much will GSP make? Think he really minds the Kos trash talk? Fuck you pay me shold be GSP’s new nickname.

Not always.
Look at Chael. All that shit talking got him into the limelight. People got interested in his fight, he’s on Inside MMA now and probably has more sponsors.

But Kos is such a boring bad guy.
At least Chael is funny. Koscheck is just a really bad shit-talker – he says nothing interesting or entertaining. I think he’s probably a pretty decent guy in his normal life, although a bit confused. But, a good fighter and I think he could be a pretty good coach, too.

This explains why his “bad guy” attitude seems for forced and lame. Because it is exactly that.

Kos always said
that he doesn’t care what people are saying about him, as long as they were saying something about him and keep his name out there.
That sounds an awful lot
like he’s playing a character. Like he isn’t being genuine and just doing whatever to make money. That sounds really familiar to me.

Yes.
It’s almost as if he has taken his real life self and “turned it up” to “play to the audience”. He understands that audiences like to see good vs bad. I wonder where he got that concept from.

Hahaha.
Worst example of all time. That fails on so many levels. Ochocinco creating a character and acting it out doesn’t earn him more money, it actually costs him money. Koscheck will drive PPV buys by being a character. Ocho only hurts himself by doing it. Try again.

Whaaat?
Worst example of all time. OchoCinco is loved by basically everyone. His “85 is always open,” thing is hilarious. I hate the Bengals but I absolutely adore Ocho. He is the very brand of “diva,” wide receiver that you want. He’s not detrimental to the locker room, he’s not detrimental to anything. He’s a great dude and he’s hilarious.
And then God created Saturn... and he liked it, so he put a ring on it.

To add ...
… the only thing he’s ever really done that upset anyone was don the Hall of Fame jacket.
And then God created Saturn... and he liked it, so he put a ring on it.

Only point is that athletes put on "characters"
Brandon Phillips called the Cardinals “little bitches” and got in a fight—-that game was the highest rated regular season broadcast for Fox Sports Midwest.
Alexander Semin said he didn’t see what was special about Sidney Crosby. Ovechkin/Crosby don’t like each other and actually say so in the media despite giving bland answers to everything else. The Caps-Pens games I believe are the highest rated for the NBA.
Shaq/Kobe have a feud that both of them have said at different points is essentially non-existent on a personal level.
This shit happens in every sport.
Not afraid to nitpick
