by Johnathan Willis on Aug 7, 2010 6:52 PM EDT up reply actions

It makes no sense to not air them on Spike

especially with the UFC seemingly always worried about a Silva headlined card. Prelims on Spike = a few more PPV buys, I assume. What does UFC lose by not airing them on Spike?

by kalmavet on Aug 7, 2010 6:53 PM EDT up reply actions

They have a deal with Spike to only air so many in a year

and they just try to pace themselves out. I’m sure they have some reasoning for which cards get it and which don’t. I’m not sure what it is, though.

by Trysdor on Aug 7, 2010 6:55 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah i wondered if there was a contract issue. thanks for clearing it up

I also wonder if the next contract will allow for more. Surely prelims on good cards are some of the best ratings Spike can generate on a Saturday night, so I don’t see why both parties wouldn’t want to air more of them

by kalmavet on Aug 7, 2010 6:57 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm sure we will eventually get to the point

where every show has prelims aired, if Spike is willing to pony up.

by Trysdor on Aug 7, 2010 7:02 PM EDT up reply actions

If the deal is even remotely equitable, I don't see why they wouldn't...

you can’t tell me anything else in their line up gets as good of ratings on a Saturday night.

Does anyone know Struve’s plan for putting on weight? I was looklng for him to come into this fight with a couple extra pounds on him from his last fight but I don’t think he did.

So I was just wondering if Struve is trying hard to put on weight and just can’t seem to pack it on or if he is comfortable where he is at right now and is just hoping to fill out as he gets a bit older?

Just BE.

by mattman73 on Aug 7, 2010 8:54 PM EDT up reply actions

Not a clue. I’m guessing he eats a steady diet of protein, with a build like his he’s probably got a fast as hell metabolism, gonna be a couple years before he puts on muscle with age as that slows down. If he wanted to do it now he’d have to hook up with the right people, but it might be tough for him, and thats why he’s built like he is at the moment.
