Forrest Griffin on FOX & Friends - Ready for the Apocalypse

All proceeds from Forrest's new book, 'Be Ready When the Sh*t Goes Down' will be going to charity:
Forrest Griffin - "There’s a couple of different ones: Fisher House, Three Square, a food bank in Las Vegas, our church, and then a couple more personal ones. The guy Big John [Grantham], in the book, he passed away, and he’s got a five-year-old son, and he’s got a trust set up, so some of it’s for that as well. I kept no money from the book. It didn’t go to charities like the "Forrest Griffin Needs a New Car Foundation.""

Not really when it comes to entertainment

I never watch the channel, but channel-surfing past there promos, FOX & Friends seems like the other AM shows in that they will have just about anyone who has a book to sell.

Forrest is starting to sound a little punchy; The guy has been in a lot of wars, but I never like to see that…. Great guy…

From what i've heard Forrest is actually a tool in person

Can anyone set the record straight and provide some examples for or against?

by cyke on Aug 5, 2010 3:49 PM EDT reply actions

No. But he is an ex-cop, right? I dunno, he still seems like a stand up guy to me.

That’s the impression I get from his interviews, but i’ve heard he’s not a very nice guy in person.

When I met Forrest he was kind and curtious, he was laughing and grateful for his fan base, he bs’d and what not and never came across as a prick. This was when he was training for his second fight with Ortiz.

People hold this against him...

He admits that he comes off as a dick sometimes, but I think he is mostly a good hearted guy. He is an oddball though.

Several mma Journalists seem to have him as their least favourite person in mma. I am not exactly sure why, I am a bit curious, though.

I don’t know if you read his first book or not, but he really comes off as a nice guy… hes just a few fries short of a happy meal when it comes to his sanity.

I met him when he came to Alaska, chatted with him a bit and as well as in the Locker Room when I cornered my buddy for his fight at the TUF Finale. He couldn’t be any more relaxed and chill.
When I first met him in AK…I was like WTF!?!? I’m a LHW and this guy is HUGE comparred to me. That’s when he told me that after he fights, he sits around and eat junk and blammo…next thing he knows, he’s up to 240-245 before a training camp.
He even posed for a pic with my Fiance at the time.

As much of a joke as Fox & Friends is, especially that blonde chick

Gotta appreciate the love they give MMA. I’m betting it’s all Kilmeade pushing them to do it

From what i understand

from what I understand after watching his interviews and reading his first book, he really hates to be interrupted or interviewed when he is training or preparing for a fight and he is in “fight mode” but if he isn’t in the gym or doing anything training-related he is a nice guy.

by darkotto23 on Aug 5, 2010 5:08 PM EDT reply actions

Exactly.

He doesn’t like to be interrupted while at work. That rubs people the wrong way, apparently.

Read his first book

And he came off as a nice enough guy, but with some real screws loose, and a bit of an odd sense of humor. He didn’t seem punchy to me, and was able to throw some little jokes and such in. If you accept that he’s slightly insane, and go from there, you can tell he’s ok.

I consider myself a softcore fan.

I didn’t know Big John passed away. He was hilarious in that book. Anyone know what happened there?

Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.

I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.

That’s too bad. He seemed like a nice guy in Forrest’s first book. The story about him coming out of the burning building with the guns and beer was priceless.
