Bellator 26 - Live Results and Commentary
As with every major show, BloodyElbow.com will be here to bring you live results and commentary for Bellator 26. The live blog will start with the beginning of the Fox Sports broadcast (at 8PM ET) so make sure to make Bloody Elbow your home for this event.
As always we have our one rule: NO SPOILERS! In the interest of not ruining anything from the undercard that may make the broadcast we ask that you do not discuss the results of the undercard in the comments until either the broadcast ends or the fight makes the air.
The FSN broadcast is live. First fight up shortly. Results below the fold.
Steve Carl vs. Tyler Stinson - Round 1 - Stinson refuses to touch gloves before the fight. Body kick from Carl. Carl with a nice takedown into Stinson's guard. Stinson smoothly transitions to an armbar but can't finish it and eats a right hand from Carl for his trouble. Stinson with a great transition to a triangle and Carl slams him but can't shake Stinson. Stinson holding on and Carl tries again. After fighting the sub attempt with Stinson looking to have it locked deep Carl escapes. As they go to the feet Stinson attempts for a takedown of his own and Carl locks in a nasty guillotine that puts Stinson to sleep. Great short fight. Steve Carl wins by submission (guillotine choke), round 1.
Aisling Daly vs. Lisa Ward - Round 1 - Daly throwing some punches and Ward locks her up and uses a great head and arm throw to put her down. Ward in side control but Daly locks half guard. Ward finally postures up and starts to blast Daly with a big flurry of punches. Ward is just dominating this round now driving punches to the body. The round ends with Ward landing a few more punches and I've got it 10-8 Ward.
Round 2 - Ward comes right out and gets the same head and arm takedown. Daly manages to get to her feet and Ward locks her up again. They're back to space after Daly manages to avoid the head and arm throw but again Ward gets the takedown. Daly manages to get on top with Ward trying to get a choke but Daly gets her head free and is on top in half guard. Daly on top in north-south.Daly with a takedown in a scramble and the round ends. Very close round but I'd go 10-9 Daly.
Round 3 - They come out throwing and Ward goes right back to that same throw.Ward on top in half guard landing punches to the body with an occasional punch to the head. Ward takes her back now looking for the choke. Daly manages to roll back over and eats a flurry. Daly gives up her back again and while she doesn't get choked she was completely overmatched in that round. 10-9 Ward makes it 29-27 on my card.
Official Scorecards: 30-27 across the board. Lisa Ward wins by unanimous decision.
Jose Vega vs. Danny Tims - Round 1 - They're both exchanging bombs. Tims stuns Vega and puts him down. He follows him down and is landing punches but Vega sits up and takes him down. Vega lands a big right hand after posturing up. Tims looks for an armbar and eats a punch and regains full guard. Tims with an armbar attempt again and Vega manages to get out into north south and he's looking for a choke but Tims rolls out. Vega is in side control. Tims with the sweep and he's on top. Now they're back to standing with Vega landing a leg kick. Left hand from Vega and Tims goes down but he's not hurt badly and stands up. Tims decides to pull guard and that's a great way to give away the round. Tims sweeps him as the round ends. 10-9 Vega on my card.
Round 2 - Tims shoots and Vega avoids and makes him stand back up. Right hand from Vega. Accidental low blow from Vega and we get a short break. Tims landing a big left hand and firing but he's too wild to land at a high rate. Good body kick from Vega and a nice jab. Left hand by Vega again and a great counter right. Tims shoots and Vega avoids. Body shot from Vega and Tims falls down but gets back up. Vega buckles his leg with a hard kick. Left hand from Tims lands. Tims misses on the shot again. Vega on top in north south landing to the body. Round ends and it should be a 10-9 Vega round.
Round 3 - Counter left from Vega. Vega keeps going back to the leg kicks and Tims is still trying to shoot for takedowns but he's getting worse and worse with them. Tims says he took a low blow but the ref tells him no. Kick from Tims lands to the leg and then he shoots and Vega avoids. Pair of right hands from Vega. Soft left hand from Tims. Jab from Vega knocks Tims' mouthpiece out. After a break to put the mouthpiece back Vega gets the quick takedown. Vega with a couple hammerfists. The fight ends and I gave all 3 rounds to Vega.
Official Scorecards: 29-28, 30-27, 29-28 all for Jose Vega. Jose Vega wins by unanimous decision.
Mike Hayes vs. Alexey Oleinik - Round 1 - Oleinik lands a few punches before ending up on his back. Quickly he gets his legs high and looks for a triangle or armbar but Hayes manages to get to his feet. Oleinik looking for a single leg. Hayes is getting tagged by awful punches and Oleinik pulls him to the ground trying to work off his back again. Some hammerfists from the top by Hayes. Oleinik tries to lock up an armbar but Hayes escapes to the back of Oleinik. They trade sloppy punches as the round ends. 10-9 Oleinik.
Round 2 - Hayes pushes him into the cage and lands a few punches to the leg and now some foot stomps. Hayes takes him down with Oleinik allowing it because he wants to be on the ground. Oleinik looks for the armbar and a trianble but can't get either. This fight is honestly really awful. Hayes transitions to the side control. There's a small cut by the eye of Oleinik from...something. The ref stands them up. Left hand from Hayes lands and the round ends. One punch for Hayes + being on top all round vs. Oleinik trying to get subs from the bottom all round. I guess 10-9 Oleinik but who knows.
Round 3 - They trade punches and Oleinik takes him down with a headlock. He's looking for his ezekiel choke but the ref has to stop the action to check a nasty cut on Hayes' eye. The doctor lets it go so we're back to where they were with Oleinik on top. Hayes with a good sweep and they trade punches with Oleinik landing some good right hands. Hayes lands a punch and Oleinik tries for a takedown but ends up on his back. The round ends and I guess I had it 30-27 Oleinik but I say again...who knows.
Official Scorecards: 29-28 Hayes, 29-28 Oleinik, 29-28 Oleinik. Alexey Oleinik wins by split decision.

And the point of a tournament like this is to turn people into guys you'd recognize.

Also...
there are guys that you should get to know.
Carl, Stinson, Ward, Hayes, Tims, Vega…they may not be superstars…but they’re good enough that you’ll see them pop up here and there.

Last week was "meh".
Toronto FC - Where road games are forfeited and we STILL have no idea how to play from behind.
I’m just not digging this heavyweight tournament in general, the women have been alright though.
Matt Hughes has some serious "mentally challenged" strength applying a choke to Ricardo Almeida’s neck strong enough to squeeze a turd out of his other end.
135 should be exciting.

heavyweight is always the worst division in mma
except at the highest levels and even then the fights we find thrilling at heavyweight would often be duds at a lighter weight.

They got rid of the best heavyweight in the tournament, Korean Fedor. Bellator was dead to me at that moment. They took Oleinik over him. Fucking weaksauce.

Obviously, not knowing anyone on the card makes it a “weak card.” Last week was the first Bellator event I’ve seen that wasn’t really entertaining.

Why are these results no longer hidden until after the jump? They used to be.
Lots of us won’t get this event until later and we’re getting spoiled.

There was one time during season 2 where I recall a big headline on the front page about the main event or something too.
The west coast doesn’t get Bellator until 8pm PT at the very earliest, but usually at 10:30 and sometimes it’s come on at freakin’ midnight.
If anything major happens it'll end up on the front page...

God I hate baseball
I never get to watch Bellator because of the God forsaken St. Louis Cardinals. God it irritates me that every time I click on Bellator some boring ass baseball garbage comes on. I’m sitting here watching this game just to see if i can understand why people would watch it..I can’t. I’ts 5-3 and it’s probably going to be 5-3 the rest of the hour or two left in this boring ass game.
Especially annoying because I’m missing the Cummings fight (granted I know it’s the undercard so I probably wouldn’t have seen it regardless). I went to high school with Zac and always enjoy watching him fight…dude has heart.

The way I rationalize it, is that Ward landed 100% of the offense, had takedown and top in multiple positions, reversed everything Daly had to try to escape, had fantastic positioning and ring control, and landed some pretty good shots.

The way Bellator has the graphic set up I assume it’s Frausto-Aguilar and Ward-Fujii. Even if Fujii has to fight Frausto, she’s competent enough on her feet. she doesn’t have knockout power and will have a lot of trouble trying to take Frausto down, but she can definitely work angles standing.

Ward's hip position is way high
Daly should be out by now
"I got a good Christian raising and a 8th grade education / Ain't no need in y'all in treating me this way." - Billy Joe Shaver
Wow. Daly’s first loss.
She needs to learn how to fight off her back and avoid the takedowns. Ward made it look so easy to take her down.
Ward's got a pretty extensive wrestling background
Anyone in that division would be hard pressed to avoid getting taken down by her

I defer to your knowledge of the division

Megu will get taken down by her with the quickness...
the issue is that it’s because she’s fine being on the ground and will then likely tap her out quickly.

About last night.....
I was fucked up, off cheap champagne. There was only one stripper, one other dude and the bar tender. The stripper comes out of the private room, sees me and swears she knows me. I told her she might have seen me in the Hawaiian tropics calendar. It was a wrap…. or so I thought. She starts telling me how she’s 18, her mom just kicked her out and she has a motel room. She says this like five times. Poor girl. Anyway, in true cock blocker style the bar tender starts telling her to go home with her cause she’s got a half gallon. If it was for that bisexual old bitch I would’ve smashed in the club. I had her up in the air against the wall in the DJ booth, ready to do the thing. Like the mark I am, I ended getting wasted and missing out. She was kinda ugly anyway, to be honest,

That's a bit of a contrast from what you posted
you would think you just won the skank lottery or something the way you were going on. And where you really in a Hawaiian tropics calendar, cause that’s just all the more reason for me to hate your mocha colored ass. Anyway, if you were a real man you would’ve had the jail bait and the bisexual granny up against the wall, with the bar tender in the back feeling neglected cause he’s been waiting so long to get tagged in.

Wait

See the wit on this kid?
Its why the hoes jock, son.
Half the shit I say, they laugh at. The other half, they believe. If only it was intentional. But I do I have the unfair advantage of being brown and pretty to look at. Drunk bitches walk up and kiss me in the club. Which is not always cool.

I bet you’ve never come across a mirror that didn’t agree with you. To you B.H. and your stable of skanks I dedicate this song.

Don't get it twisted.
I don’t got game like that. I just fall in the right places at the right times. I’m not the finest dude out there, but I’ll break a bitch in two. I know it, she knows it.
I have no ho stable, only a conveyor belt.
Sometimes I wonder if I’m really as shallow and conceited as I appear. Then I realize I don’t really care. You only live once.

uncanny
I was gonna say I feel like the world is my oyster, then I seen the chain. I got a jacket like that one but dark blue, too.
I gotta say, that is the most poorly constructed and executed song with the simplest concept. But I like it.

The sad thing is
as retarded as I can comprehend it being, I like it too (I always have to listen to some Wu Tang or something afterwards to not feel so ashamed).

I basically did hit the skank lotto.
She was practically gift wrapped. As soon as she seen me she was on the Johnson.
But yes, last night I was happy as fuck cause I had a slut drooling in the palm of hand(visualize that). It feels really good. Just cause some dude just gave her $250 for a private dance, I gave her $8 and got a freaky in the DJ both. I should have smashed, but oh well.

The BW fight and the HW fight
had to be one of the biggest differences in back-to-back fight entertainment.
If Derek Jeter clubbed a baby seal on earth day while wearing a mink coat and crocodile skin boots while burning tires on an iceberg, the reaction would be "Its OK Derek, you’re a Yankee." -First mammal to wear pants
must have nodded out man
what did I miss?
"How do you shoot the devil in the back? What if you miss?"
Some dudes fought
And these two chicks totally 69’d.
