UFC 118 Preview: Demian Maia Says He's Comfortable Striking With Mario Miranda

"My training has been going well. It’s a little bit weird because I’m fighting 20 days earlier, but it’s okay, I’ll be prepared. I hope there’s no effect. It’s a bit stressful, but I’ll adapt."

"I saw some of (Mario Miranda's) fights, not too many though. I know he’s a good wrestler, has good Muay Thai, and he’s very tall."

"Whatever I need to win I’ll do. I think I’d be comfortable striking. I’m always looking to improve my striking. I now do half and half, grappling and stand-up. Before I did much more grappling, much more Jiu-Jitsu. Now I really am working on it. I know I need to keep my Jiu-Jitsu sharp, but I also need to get better with my stand-up."

I am going with Maia here, but Miranda is no joke. Miranda is 6’3 in height, so striking with him may not be the best idea if Maia can’t get inside. I really don’t expect Maia to strike with Miranda, and I think that Maia will try to take the fight to the ground into his world.
