King Mo Lawal Will Undergo Knee Surgery Next Tuesday, Will Be Out for 9 Months:
"Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal will undergo knee surgery to replace both his anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments in his left knee, which could sideline the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion for nine months, said his manager Ryan Parsons. The injury occurred during Saturday’s bout and that Lawal will undergo surgery next Tuesday in Los Angeles."

wowwww both acl and pcl…. and if his ACL is torn then his MCL and meniscus is probably pretty smashed as well. 9 month recovery is a huuuuuuuge lowball estimate. man. well, with the muscular density of these athletes recovery time is usually expedited but i dont know….
regardless, hope he recovers quickly and that this doesnt screw up his mental game. he didnt seem like himself saturday night and as a fan of high class wrestling, id love to see a comeback.
This is the second time for both.
Mo is such a freak athlete he was able to fight without a PCL for a while; he even tore his ACL in a fight he won during that time.

Dammit all to hell.
When the hell are we going to get those stem cells we were promised lol
Can’t believe Mo was able to win a belt with a damaged knee, especially with his style of fighting.
Wonder how much faster will he be if the surgery and recovery goes well.
People do not like to think. If one thinks, one must reach conclusions. Conclusions are not always pleasant.

I’m not a King Mo fan, but what an athlete. I really don’t understand how some of these guys are able to stand, let alone fight.
It’s the right decision to wait and heal — hopefully he waits long enough to heal — I hate it when fighters fight too soon and then bust their knee or whatever injury again and then have to have more surgery on it and get sidelined for an even longer amount of time (i.e. Shogun).
Sidenote: That is a great shot.
Might explain why his takedowns had such bad form.
Hell of a fighter, hope he recovers well.

Wondered the same thing...
Of course, the biggest question following the fight was whether Lawal’s current (not future) skills were highly overestimated following the Mousasi fight OR whether Feijao’s were highly underestimated following his loss to Mike Kyle.
To me, I think the latter is a true statement regardless of what condition Lawal was in for and during this fight. A lot of people forgot about Feijao after that loss, despite the fact that he is still young and has amanzing training partners. I think Feijao matured a lot following the loss and is finally showing the potential many had boasted about prior to most people having actually seen him fight.
On the other hand, this injury ought to put a pause on those jumping over each other to get off of King Mo’s bandwagon. I truly believe he will come back a much better fighter. If he’s not fighting to regain his Strikeforce belt by the end of next year, he’ll be fighting his way through legit contenders in the UFC.

Dumbass statement of the year? He said fuck the people who hate on him for wrestling so you are happy he fucked up his knee and could potentially never be the same fighter again and could potentially not be able to do his job that pays his bills again? Maybe that’s the reason he said f*ck the fans cause people make comments like you

this is a real shame
Getting injured like that is awful, and with such a long recovery time its even worse. But Mo is a stellar athlete and I not only hope, but expect to see him back in the cage sooner rather than later. Sorry Mo.
