Not Strikeforce's fault
But two WTF referee scenarios damaged the night.

Fight of the Night: Ronaldo Souza/Tim Kennedy
Fighter of the Night: Daniel Cormier
KO of the Night: Daniel Cormier (sub to strikes blah blah)
Sub of the Night: n/a
Overall Show Rating: Good, the weird drama of Lashley/Griggs and Noons/Gurgel added to those fights. Both title fights were good matchmaking and well fought

Fight of the Night: Jacare vs. Kennedy I guess?
Fighter of the Night: Beans
KO of the Night: KJ Noons
Overall Show Rating: weird
Overall Production Rating: A little below decent. Mauro and Gus are just…..hard to listen to. Camera Work was average. The Interviews were awkward. But the transitions between fights and interviews and random soundbytes from previous fights just ruined it for me..

I thought this was a pretty amazing card. There were upsets aplenty, knockouts, exciting finishes and basically everything on the broadcast except a submission.

Fight-I’m going with Jacare/Kennedy. Heart and determination plus a lot of sticking to gameplans.
Fighter-Feijao. He did a great job of getting back up to his feet and beat a very game Mo.
KO-Noons. Either the one after the first or the one starting the second.
Submission-Jacare…oh wait.
Overall Show-Very good. While guys like Lashley and Gurgel didn’t perform that well, the card was very satisfying.
Overall Production-Poor. Mauro grates on me like no other. Gus is just awkward in teh post fight interviews. Does Frank know how to pronounce anyone’s name? And how about less crap between fights and show some guys like Galvao and Cormier.
Fight of the Night: Ronaldo Souza vs. Tim Kennedy
Fighter of the Night: Rafael Cavalcante
KO of the Night: Rafael Cavalcante
Submission of the Night: Daniel Cormier
Overall Show Rating: Average (I’m a Strikeforce defender, but the Noons-Gurgel, Lashley-Griggs, and Patino-Galvao fights all ended strangely, the title fights were fun, but can’t salvage the horrible luck Strikeforce seems to have with reffing. So the show is average, but it’s not on Strikeforce.)
Overall Production Rating: Poor (The CompuStrike updates, the swipes at pro wrestling, the “some say announcers influence how the fight leans” then Mauro clearly showing bias towards Kennedy, just terrible. I will say, that I would give the Sherdog stream a solid Good bordering on Great. Sure, it was just Pat, but it was solid, the picture was fantastic, and it was an MMA legend, just hanging out with us talking fighting. I’d watch every Strikeforce event like that.)
I'm glad I wasn't the only one
who noticed what Mauro said about commentators.
I literally laughed out loud as soon as he followed that with a comment about TK

Fight of the Night
Even with the shit ending, Noons/Gurgel. Was a fun scrap until what should have been a DQ.
Fighter of the Night
Uh, I guess Feijao.
KO of the Night (if applicable)
Feijao again
Submission of the Night (if applicable)

Overall Show Rating (Perfect, Great, Good, Average, Below Average, Poor)
I’ll say Below Average and that’s being kind. This was show mostly ranged between inept and tepid and was downright awful compared to the last two UFC events. The recent Challengers show was better even.
Overall Production Rating – Announcing, Camera Work, etc (Perfect, Great, Good, Average, Below Average, Poor)
Average, I guess.
Oh, did they show the Cormier fight after the main-event? I actually turned it off I was so sick of the damn thing. But I guess that’s progress at least.
No strikeforce/showtime doesn’t add fights to a broadcast no matter how much time is left on the originally scheduled broadcast. I think the Cormier fight and another fight (Galvao?) were streamed on Sherdog.com before the Showtime broadcast
Always pulling for Kenflo as UFC LW Champ!

Fight of the Night: Feijao vs Lawal
Fighter of the Night: Feijao
KO of the Night: Feijao
Overall Show Rating (Perfect, Great, Good, Average, Below Average, Poor): Average. A couple decent scraps but nothing worth writing home about.
Overall Production Rating – Announcing, Camera Work, etc (Perfect, Great, Good, Average, Below Average, Poor): Below Average. The announcing wasn’t quite as bad as usual but it still wasn’t good.
Fight of the Night: Kennedy/Jacare
Fighter of the Night: Cavalcante and Griggs
KO of the Night: Cavalcante
Submission of the Night: Cormier
Overall Show Rating: Good
Overall Production Rating – Announcing, Camera Work, etc: Good – What a difference watching in a bar, where the audio is downed out, make with your enjoyment. Without the inane banter of Shamrock, Gus, and Mauro I could focus on the fights and the event felt very much like a UFC fight night event. The camera work looked good. The pre-fight intro and fighter packages looked (couldn’t hear them) slick. The use of the EA game was effective. The interviews with the required hot reporter looked uncomfortable. And the fighters -with the exception of Lasley and Griggs – looked good.

Fight of the Night – Lawal-Feijao
Fighter of the Night – Feijao
KO of the Night (if applicable) – Feijao
Overall Show Rating (Perfect, Great, Good, Average, Below Average, Poor) – Great
Overall Production Rating – Announcing, Camera Work, etc (Perfect, Great, Good, Average, Below Average, Poor) – Poor. Refereeing was awful, and commentary was horrendous.
I'm just a 16 year old kid who loves MMA.
Fight of the Night: Jacare vs Kennedy
Fighter of the Night: Rafael Calvante
KO of the Night: KJ Noons
Submission of the Night: Griggs for making Lashley quit
Overall Show Rating: Good
Overall Production Rating – Announcing, Camera Work, etc (Perfect, Great, Good, Average, Below Average, Poor):
Announcing was Bush League: Gus really needs to go. Mauro and Shamrock may be better off without him. Camerawork: Good.
Toughest SOB award: King Mo for standing with Feijao and still trying to fight on despite taking punishment and still being able swallow his pride to congratulate the new champ.
Dan Mirgliotta/Steve Mazagatti Award: goes to the ref officiating the Noons/Gurgel Match
*Fight of the Night – Mo / FejaoGood fight and great upset.
*Fighter of the Night - Fejao. Great upset.
*KO of the Night (if applicable) – Noons. Poor Gurgel lost twice in one night.
*Submission of the Night (if applicable) – Griggs for whatever he did to Lashley?
*Overall Show Rating (Perfect, Great, Good, Average, Below Average, Poor) – Average, reffs can ruin events.
*Overall Production Rating – Announcing, Camera Work, etc (Perfect, Great, Good, Average, Below Average, Poor) – Poor Frank Shamrock: “It’s not illegal!, It’s not illegal!,It’s not illegal!,It’s not illegal!…it’s illegal…”
I'm a lover not a fighter
Fight of the night. Mo/Fejao.
Fighter of the night: Fejao
KO Fejao (too much weirdness in noons fight to give it to him.)
Submission: cormier
Overall show rating: Good. the last two fights brought things up a notch.
Production rating: Below average. Oh, showtime. Mauro, counting stats do not tell the whole story, they can be helpful, but everyone needs to stop acting like they are the only thing that matters when scoring rounds. Props to Shamrock for actually scoring rounds and trying to describe his scoring, which is a huge improvement over “i don’t do that” which he pulled last time. More should have been made about the weirdness that happened in the noons fight, more besides mauro and shamrock screaming at each other unintelligibly.
Fails of the night: Lashle:. the promotion and lead up into this fight is going to make the reaction to this fight much worse than it should be. It appears that Griggs was an actual test for lashley, the fact that fight wasn’t really promoted that way combined with how easy lashley was able to take him down at first is going to make this result seem a lot worse for lashley than it is in reality
Promotion: Apparently there’s another showtime is putting on another event in 3 weeks. Maybe it would have been nice to make that abundantly clear to the captive audience they had watching this show. I mentioned lashley above. Fail number 3 is the MW division. I think the talk of “the wrong guy winning” this fight is overblown, but we still have no idea what is happening in that division. There has been talk of a tournament for months, and that is going to lose a lot of juice if they have to have another title fight first. The same problem exists for 205, but it’s not as big, because that division is smaller and the future should be less clear. They have had 5 months to square away this MW situation, and the only thing that’s changed is someone has the belt now.
FOTN – Noons/Gurgel
Fighter – Chad Griggs
KO – Feijao
Sub – Didn’t see cormier fight so gotta give it to Griggs
Show – Good, lots of action, good matchups
Production – horriable, I hate Mauro/Quadros/Shamrock/Johnson. They all suck. They don’t pay attention to the fights, Mauro/Johnson have no idea whats going on half the time. Shamrock just wants to talk over everybody. Quadros looks like death, sooo pasty white. I am hating strikeforce more and more with every show for this one reason. I’ve been to 3 live shows and loved them all but hate watching their shows on tv b/c of the production. Boooo Mauro/Johnson/Shamrock/Quadros!!!
Always pulling for Kenflo as UFC LW Champ!
Would love to see Nick Diaz back in the UFC WW division!
Fight of the Night – Lawal // Feijao
Fighter of the Night – Feijao
KO of the Night – Feijao
Submission of the Night – Griggs
Overall Show Rating – Good
Overall Production Rating – (Announcing, Camera Work, etc) – Below Average
Strikeforce is still suffering from all of the same problems that they have been suffering from the start. They did make a nice leap imo with the new promo material they were using last night, but every other aspect of the production was just as poor as always.
The big thing that stood out to me is this. Strikeforce needs to step up to the ACs and require that only certain refs be allowed to work their events until we stop seeing some of these horrible calls that are being made. I understand that reffing won’t get better if refs aren’t allowed to make mistakes and learn from them, but a nationally showcased card like this isn’t the place for it. If it is a matter of money then they need to step up and pay it, if it is a matter of forcing the AC then they need to do the same. You can’t continue to see these mistakes though without people beginning to question how many mistakes are being made.
Overall a better show than most they have put on, but it still suffered from growing pains. Sadly though I don’t think they are willing to really learn from the fans are trying to tell them and it shows in far to many ways still. At least we are getting some decent fights out of the mix occasionally.
Fight of the Night: Noons – Gurgel (I accidentaly saw the results for Feijao – Mo before I got to watch the fights, otherwise that one might’ve been it)
Fighter of the Night: Feijao
KO of the Night (if applicable): KJ Noons
Submission of the Night (if applicable): N/A
Overall Show Rating: Good
Overall Production Rating: Below Average. Announcing team was horrible as usual, their constant obsession with compustrike stats was annoying, Gus is really terrible for post-fight interviews. Not showing the new champ (Feijao) getting the belt, but instead go directly to interview with Mo was really poor. Also I fucking hate this thing they’re doing of cutting Brazilian fighters names short, tonight it was “Rafael Feijao” and “Jacare Souza” (see also: “Chris Cyborg”). That shit really bugs me! Their names aren’t THAT complicated.
FightOTN: Lawal-Feijao
FighterOTN: Chad “Who?” Griggs. Lashley is who is he, but the guy came in as nobody and walked out a semi-recognizeable fighter. Feijao is a close second and I’d have pegged him if SF titles really meant something besides 5 round fights. Alas, they don’t.
If “Submission (Quittin’)” counts, then I’d give Griggs that too.
KO: Noons. Even if the last blow was blatantly illegal…
Overall show: Very good. Enjoyed every fight, though Noons-Gurgel was an unfortunate mismatch and it’s hard to see a nice guy like Gurgel get added to another guy’s highlight reel.
Production: The camera work was fine but it’d be nice to see some more cornering footage. Interviews in between rounds were awkward and when they went overtime with Feijao that didn’t help.
The commentary team was a disaster, as usual. Pat Miletich did a better job solo casting the Sherdog prelims than those three clowns did. As bad as Mauro and Gus are (and they’re really bad) Shamrock still gets more on my nerves.
Kennedy got robbed.
Plain and simple. I’m pissed.
