it can't possibly be serious
theres no way he’d be trying to cut 30 lbs in one day. to even attempt that would be absurd
Even when I'm laying on my back I'm never backing down

It is legit
I saw him when I was at Bellator 22, and he is MASSIVE for a WW.

sure but 30 POUNDS!?!?!?! In less than 1 day?
No way, I gotta say, that shit don’t play, OK?

Pain don't hurt...
exactly. he’s a monster ww, but theres no way he’s trying to cut 30 lbs in a day. he really would have to cut off his leg.

Damn, how fat is he when he’s not cutting weight? I’m having visions of Anthony Johnson on Inside MMA…

AJ wasn't even fat
but don’t tell his face that.

Just strange.
He really is solid and pretty cut at 220. I’ve heard lots of guys who know him say it. He was way bigger than Rashada few months ago, with no gut or titties.

Lol
So he is solid at 220, he just weighs 240 most of the time.

I think this picture was taken when he was still injured
and not training. So maybe thats why he looks so fat there.
I hear he won’t be fighting until 2011?

i'm still shocked that askren beat him
couldn’t believe it – i mean, i saw it but was just in shock. askren’s hair must contain magical powers…either that or hornbuckle isn’t as good as i wanted to believe – or maybe askren is really good.
how could a seasoned MMA vet get beat by a relative newcomer to MMA?
i realize that askren’s a great wrestler, but i figured an experienced MMA guy could counter the wrestling and beat him.

You clearly haven’t been watching MMA as of late. Joe Warren, Ben Askren, King Mo, Bobby Lashley, Brock Lesnar etc etc
MMA > The UFC
Seasoned is the key word there.

Ben Askren is a cardio-wrestling machine
I love Hornbuckle, ever since his KO headkick of the Japanese Sensation, but Askren was all over him like a bigger, younger, better Clay Guida.
Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?
George Carlin
Askren has an insane top game – it’s just onslaught after onslaught of energy and pressure from him. Fast as hell takedowns, immense pressure to pass, quick transitions. Hornbuckle has a good guard game – truly good – but he just couldn’t keep up with Askren’s game. When on top, he couldn’t stay on top of Askren either – passed his guard, but couldn’t stay on top of him.
In like three years, Askren is going to give even Marcelo a hard time. I say this having studied that Marcelo-Askren video that was made back in March/April. I don’t think Askren’s ever going to develop a serious bottom game, but he’s possibly good enough for that to not matter.

theres no way the hornbuckle thing is serious right?
btw whats the record for being overweight?

He had to be joking, why would he tell everyone that he couldn’t make weight?

Yeah it’s gotta be a joke.. that much overweight the day of the weigh-ins, it’s absurd. He’s been pro at WW a long time so it’s not anything new for him
by Horselover Fat on Aug 18, 2010 7:19 PM EDT up reply actions
Exactly.
Just looking at him, you know he’s never been fat.
