I said this from the beginning
I love Toney. I love his trash talk. He hypes fights unlike no other. I loved his boxing matches…. hell he’s my fav character on the fight night series. He will be out of his element in MMA…..however if he can connect with Randy’s chin… which can not take a punch like it use to… he will KO Randy. A lot of people are doubting Toney saying that Randy will easily take him down and submit him….. but all it is going to take is one punch that connects for this to go the opposite way. And we are talking about someone with pin point accuracy as a pro boxer. I do think Randy has the upper hand here and will most likely win…. but I would never count Toney out.
One Punch!
And honestly I am hoping Toney wins. This would help get more boxers in MMA in general to give all the wrestlers various/different competition.

…as i mentioned in an earlier post, i can just see Toney pulling out of the fight at last minute. Either with a phanton injury or some BS about not wanting to sully the sport of boxing or some nonsense.
fingers crossed it doesnt go this way, but he has got to be waking up in the middle of the night in cold sweats thinking “oops…… what have i let myself in for”…

I remember reading about fighters and persuasion...
One of the points that stuck out at me was that the trash talk isn’t just for the media or the fans, it’s actually mostly for the fighter himself. Building his own confidence and persuading his unconscious primal side that he will succeed at the given task.
Maybe this is just common knowledge, but it was a new perspective to me…
I completely agree with Toney here. Jay Glazer is a clown. That is all.

The part I like most about this post is that you didn’t transcribe his speech as ebonics falvored jibberish, which is what I’ve come to expect from the regulars here. Props to giving Toney enough respect to transcribe what he said into readable English.

Your attempt at a joke was weak. I was talking about giving Toney respect, which it seems it pains many around here to do. Transcribing whatever Toney says into “Yassa Massa” flavored jive speak says alot about the people who post it, especially when its plausible that he speaks the way he speaks because of injuries he’s suffered in the ring. Similarly, giving Toney the respect to transcribe what he says into readable English says alot about the person who posted it.
So again, props to Pyrgz Krum for being respectful.

That was a quote of a quote. I didn’t catch the fat fuck part until after. I apologize for that. And I admit to not reading the full line and thinking it was merely a lead in. The quote was found using Google and typing in James Toney quotes. I believe it was a paraphrased, but it seemed to be a quote familiar with in boxing circles as there were 300 comments on it with no one denying it.. It is on a video clip I heard a while back. I tried to get a link but I don’t feel like looking through comments to see if anyone quotes it. Maybe tonight I’ll link it.

Just a few replies above, you made fun of Toney’s English, which is what I was talking about. You don’t have to like Toney is a fighter. I don’t. He’s been on my shit list since ND’ing against John Ruiz because he pissed hot. He’s said some pretty ignorant things about MMA. But people on this board are acting like Toney personally donkey punched their mother with no condom on, while they watched with their father. about Toney’s inability to speak clearly rather than his KO record so please don’t mistake it for ‘hating on his record.’ I’ll be the first to say that, while I think Couture will win this handily, Toney’s hands are obviously not to be messed with and he has, arguably, one of the best “Punchers Chances” of any heavy underdog we’ve seen in MMA as of late.

James Toney is a fat out of shape boxer that can get away with being out of shape in boxing, however, in MMA this is not true as one must have better cardio and many more skills to defend an attack at appropriate times while in a match.
This fog horn just can’t shut up and I’m looking forward to watching Randy Couture put a beating on him and shut him the hell up for once and for all ……….. Mr Toney you are the only clown involved in this fight and rest assured Capt America will introduce you to MMA the right way come Aug 28th.

Regardless of the fight outcome, this guy should enroll in a head trauma study. This guy does make me laugh…just not with him. Too bad he wasn’t paying more attention to Chael’s fight hype, this sounds like the retarded kid in the school yard. And I’m going to go out on a limb and say the majority of mma fans had not heard of the “Legend” James Toney before 2 months ago…and rightly so.
