Even with the not great roster EA are the kings of sports games so i don’t think it will flop.

Im a huge video game player and a huge MMA fan and i have never had any interest in owning either UFC game. I disliked it following the yearly “sports game model” and frankly remindes me a little too much of WWE games, more importantly id rather play WOW and 1st person shooters.
The relevance is this, if hard core gamers who loves MMA can pass the UFC title no problem (i know people who echo similar sentiments to mine) who is left to buy the EA title???? I think the casual fans who have bought the UFC game will gravitate towards that still, and hardcore gamers will stick to games and gameplay they already love.
It might not completely flop but it wont have the visibility or the appeal to do the UFC’s games number.
I dont see the benefit to playing MMA games at all, as previously stated im happy watching MMA and playing games i actually enjoy.
Video Game flops are more to do with poor marketing
Than anything gelse. Look at the success of pre-orders for the original Gears of War, as an example of this, or the recent failure of APB.
EA have deep pockets in this area, and MMA is easy to market well, so the game could do quite nicely.

just for the roster, that’s what Undisputed is for. People will buy this game because of the gameplay.

Agreed and the same names are going to be on multiple lists...
Rua, Lindland, Henderson, Smith, Manhoef, Miller, Mousasi and Frank will probably appear at MW.
I wouldn’t be blown away to see King Mo there too, plus he will also be fighting at Money weight…
Smith and Miller may also appear at WW
Will there be a 182 lb division?
Diaz will appear at MW, WW and LW

Because he's a good fighter, top 20 competitor, and has been working hard in MMA for a long time.
He belongs at LHW in an MMA game. I’m not just trying to trash these guys, it’s the truth. Matyushenko looks old when he fights. Randy is rapidly deteriorating because of his age, and even Joe/Goldy/Randy himself constantly refer to how old he is. King Mo is 6-0, which is nothing in MMA. Brock is the only man with a record so sparse that has elevated themselves beyond the prospect level, and that’s because he’s beaten the best competition available over and over again. Roger Gracie almost never shows up in MMA and his best win is 2010 Kevin Randleman. Who gives a fuck? Mousasi, despite all the hype, has only three fights at this weight class (he’s 2-1, my mistake above) and looked terrible in one of them. Not impressed.
Babalu has a legit record and some serious wins on his record. He’s fought MMA for 13 years and his only embarrassingly bad loss is to Jason Lambert. The Mousasi loss looks worse in retrospect, but beyond that he’s a serious fighter and belongs in an MMA videogame at 205.

EA needs to give up on releasing these weight class rosters and just give the names on the game. The way they are having to pad these weight classes out is just making them look bad (although it’s great fun to laugh at).
Middleweight and lightweight will be good lists, I think.
Respectable to say the least. Heavyweight was alright, not fantastic. Welterweight will be bad (Diaz, Shields, Sakurai, Zaromskis… then silliness like Mayhem and Lawler of old) and we’ll all have a good laugh. But this LHW list is pathetic.
I’d be a little surprised that Paulo Filho didn’t show up in the game if he ever showed up anywhere he was supposed to. Then again, the lack of Feijao is stark. This is total speculation on my part, but I can’t help noticing that both Filho and Feijao are not in the game and both are managed by Ed Soares. Wonder if I’m grasping at straws, but there are a million reasons he might have wanted to keep his fighters out of the game.

Uh… who did you all THINK was going to be in the game?
I think it’s cool that they’re stretching the roster over multiple weight classes like this. I mean, they pretty much have to, but I wish the UFC games would do this too.
Why is it cool? Why would the UFC game do it? Honest question. Personally when I play Undisputed I only choose fighters who are currently fighting in the weight class we’re banging in.. annoys me to see someone like Bisping still at LHW rooster.
Anyway, yeah this line-up really sucks, but whatever. As you said we already knew to expect this.. if the game play itself is better than Undisputed, it won’t really matter all that much. We’ll see in a few months how the game turns out, hoping for the best.

Even if the UFC was with EA, they wouldn’t sign off on a FIFA-type massive game. As awesome for the player as it would be to progress realistically, for the UFC it would be a lot of pub for competitors on a game selling the majority of its copies because it is “that UFC game.”

Batman Arkham City is coming out in the fall of 2011, not this year.. I’m playing through Arkham Asylum right now, great fucking game, so I’ll be looking forward to the sequel.
Anyway, I’ll be playing the shit out of Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood when it arrives! Dead Rising 2 should also be cool, haven’t played the first one but the it seems really enjoyable. Might try Black Ops even though I’m generally not a fan of FPS on consoles, same as you I’ve never I liked Halo though so I won’t bother with that. I just don’t like the setting and the weapons, no good feel to it..

anyways. Fight Night had what, like 8 fighters total in the game? The strength of this game is going to be the career mode, gameplay (hopefully), online (hopefully)create-a-fighter, and the ability to share created fighters, as well as download other’s c-a-f’s and use them all within 25 seconds. Hopefully a demo drops soon enough, I’ve all but given up on Undisputed.

Foes of Ali had nine fighters, the first Fight Night game had about 40 fighters in it

Round 4 I meant specifically. Which I think you mean too, as it looks like there are around 40 fighters. Regardless, these were spread over a ton of weight classes and I never really felt like it was too thin. With the ability to share fighters, within a month of release there should be virtually every fighter imaginable in the game. And there’s that whole EA face scanner thing that I don’t really know much about too which should ease the process. I hope there’s enough depth when it comes to creating the fighters to make their styles accurate, though.
