I thought
he came across as quite humble in the interview. I kinda like him now. With Andy out til the new year, bring on Belfort vs. Sonnen I say.
Nah that would be too one-sided
Vitor is tailor made for Chael to dominate. I say bring on Sonnen vs. the winner of Bisping/Akiyama, Belfort vs. Leben and give both victors title shots.
Humble?
He said he could take the middle weight belt without a break a bead. Come on, he loves his own voice.

Maybe not humble, but one of the most candid in-depth interviews I’ve ever heard a fighter give after a loss. I was really done with Chael before the fight, and hoped Anderson would knock him out, but I can’t remember anyone being that detailed about how he’s feeling, what went on during the fight, and how he lost. Obviously on top of having “everything but the belts”, you could add good submission defense, but all in all he’s really earned my annoyed respect. I’m convinced Chael is just one of those guys who just can’t stop talking, and just expressing everything constantly. It’s only an act to a small degree. It’s not too common in a guy, and particularly for a fighter. He may love his voice, and giving interviews, but I almost feel like he’s in a constant talk therapy session. Peculiar, but way more interesting than some of the sputum pre-fight.

Oh yeah..
very humble indeed, including the part when he says the he dominated all the fights in his career.
I think that Demian Maia might disagree with that statement.
You know who I pray to? Joe Pesci. Joe Pesci. Two reasons; first of all, I think he's a good actor. Okay. To me, that counts. Second; he looks like a guy who can get things done. Joe Pesci doesn't fuck around. Doesn't fuck around.

This is what's crazy and what I'd like to know what people think
If he won this fight knowing his past with the Filho fight when his dad was sick and he promised a title to him, do you think Chael breaks down and cries if he wins the UFC belt or does he get on the mic and say “I told you Anderson sucked and I delivered”? Chael, Forrest, and Jens seem to be the most emotional fighters after losses.

I’m gonna say he cries and talks in depth about how much he wanted it, and has a ton of complimentary things to say about Anderson. I think Chael might be just really emotional in general. He mentioned needing that pat on the back, and that his losses are just unforgettable to him. Add in the promise to his Dad, and his loose cannon nature, and I think he cries on Joe Rogan’s shoulder, and I’d probably have goosebumps and be happy for him.

Humble, respectful, objective. Is this some guy in a Chael Sonnen mask? The guy is a great interview when he’s not B.S.ing his way thru his own fight hype.

but then he says, with the same sincerity, that he’s never said one thing that wasn’t true, that he didn’t mean, or that he’d take back. That he’s never lost a round in his life. Oh, and that if he wanted to, he could breeze through the LHW division.
Hey Pete
R.I.P.
Great Interview still not a Vitor fan but i do like to see him fight and respect his fight
I’m not resting until I’m officially Anderson Silva status.- Jon "Bones" Jones
Btw he probably has the best questions and interviewing besides Ariel

The entire interview is brutal
He’s being 100% honest.

"I could go up to 205 and take the belt without a fight."
Hahaha nice! This dude is a bad ass.
"You stick a microphone in a guy's face and he calls out anybody but the champion, and Joe Silva should fax him a pink slip right then." -- Chael Sonnen.
haha
If I wasn’t an atheist I would start a prayer group to get this fight. how very sweet that would be.

Why did he no mention the loss to Maia? Just because Filho missed weight is no reason to not consider Chael the WEC middle weight champ.
Gotta fix this...
Just because Filho missed weight and went retarded, talking to himself and fighting the air is no reason to not consider Chael the WEC middle weight champ.
Chael is a really good interview. I really hoped he wouldn’t blow it going into that last round, but had a feeling he would. I told my friends at the ppv before the fight, “Chael by decision or Silva by sub…” (gimme my cookies). Hated that he didn’t win, but it was definitely a great fight.

Jesus Christ Chael
Stop making me like you.
I think Chael is one of my favorite fighters now.

Even MORE of a Sonnen fan now.
Articulate, and well spoken. Rematch, rematch, rematch.
I've really enjoyed the post-fight Chael
The press conference was great, and so was this.
Straka almost smiled for a second. Good questions, but he’ll be really good when he loosens up a little.
Use more judges.
I became a Chael fan
after the Okami fight but when I heard his interview after with Ariel Hawanniiinini (I cant spell his name) I became really liked Chael because he doesn’t sound like a normal fighter. He doesn’t look like a normal fighter. He looks like a guy who sells you insurance and helps put a down payment on your home.
He seems almost too smart to even be doing this for a living. I’m glad he does though, he a very interesting man.
I think Sonnen is forgeting about the Maia loss. He said he's lost 2x since being released. Filho and Silva and Maia.
I really like Sonnen now. I’m a huge fan. Also listen to him. NO EXCUSES!
he's too frackin smart
could it be, just a small possibility, he is snowballing us? the guy is very very….very intelligent, he made people hate him when it served his purpose, now he’s making people like him when it serves his purpose, he could be a likable guy but i’m not sure what kind of odds vegas would put on his honosty vs. bs. i did listen to the whole interview and enjoyed it btw.
i can admit when i'm wrong, can you?

I think it’s more believable that he’s a likable guy in general (albeit a bit arrogant).
I’ve been a fan of Chael since the Okami fight. I thought the guy should have been cut after the Dan Miller fight (didn’t know at the time that he only had a few days to prepare) because that fight was a snoozefest. He pushed the pace in the Okami and Marquardt fights and won against opponents who I thought would destroy him. I felt like I was one of the only people on this site rooting for him against Silva. All of the bloggers here seemed to believe (until they started writing about it as a “kayfabe” right before the fight) that Chael was a lying dick. I don’t know why it was so hard to pick up on the fact that he was working on getting people to buy the PPV. I found it all hilarious.
Then he backed it up. Anyway, I like the guy. If you can back up your arrogance and are willing to fight the best in the world, then I applaud you.
He did beat on Miller fo 3 days.
Yeah it was on really short notice and he had to cut like 28 pounds or something crazy like that to take the fight. Poor Miller, that was right after his baby died.
Or as we like to say here in Texas...
It ain’t braggin’ if you can do it…

Anyone remember that old clip...
With Chael when Lindland was about to face Fedor and Chael talked smack on sambo.. It was epic I can’t find it anywhere though.
Post fight Chael > pre fight Chael
I cant believe Im saying this…but Id like to see him doing some commentary during fights. Put him in the booth with Rogan and Goldberg for a few fights during a card.

I was starting to think "hey, maybe he isn't such a douche after all"
but then I remembered. He’s a politician…
You know who I pray to? Joe Pesci. Joe Pesci. Two reasons; first of all, I think he's a good actor. Okay. To me, that counts. Second; he looks like a guy who can get things done. Joe Pesci doesn't fuck around. Doesn't fuck around.

The man is a politician
Regardless that was a good interview. Chael is fun to listen to when he isn’t trolling.

great interview
As long as it’s not about his next opponent, or politics, I could listen to Chael Sonnen talk about MMA all day long. I was rooting for Silva 100%, but I gotta give respect to Chael Sonnen.
Guys like Werdum and Silva take 4 months off after a win, but Sonnen is doing press the morning after he loses. Very cool. Then again, how graceful will he be when he wins?
I also get his point about Tyson, I felt exactly the same when that happened.
