I cannot tell you how much more I like this Chael Sonnen...

…than the bullshit pro wrestler wannabe that we saw before the fight. Smart, prepared, well-spoken.

Now somebody buy him a suit.

We don’t wear suits in Oregon.

I wear whatever Chael Sonnen tells me to wear, I wouldn’t want him running me out of my neighborhood.

Hell, at least a shirt with a collar. He was pretty good on there, though.

That's not enough of a collar to count.

I’ve seen him wear a collared shirt before if that counts. It could be worse, he could have Lindland’s wardrobe of flannel and jeans.

by JoeMimic on Aug 13, 2010 11:20 AM EDT up reply actions

I know. I should have wrote “at least wear…”

by HadoukenKTFO on Aug 13, 2010 11:23 AM EDT via mobile up reply actions

You know, it is amazing. I really thought he was stupid.

I guess he has the skill to be whatever he wants. Sometimes he just wants to be an unbearable asshole for a few months.

by Sventsh on Aug 13, 2010 1:07 PM EDT up reply actions

It's not that he's stupid.

It’s that he uses his smarts for evil. :-)

If by "evil" you mean "a million PPV buys"

The problem isn't with "a million PPV buys"

it is with the ignorance spewed on the way there. By any means necessary isn’t as good of an idea as it sounds.

by truck on Aug 13, 2010 3:34 PM EDT up reply actions

A deathmatch between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West with chainsaws strapped to their hands

…would do 50 million PPV buys. Is that all there is to this sport? Is this just about profit and entertainment? Should we schedule Brock vs. a grizzly bear ASAP? Because – and I know what a naive person I am – I like to think of this as the greatest sport in the world. And I’d like to see it treated that way.

I’m curious: how well is the sport going to grow when the sponsors – and their customers – get wind of what kind of statements Chael is making to get those PPV buys. Maybe Bud Light is willing to have somebody’s hispanic body double call a beloved sports star a cheater and a liar who deserved to get cancer, but I’ll bet that Gatorade wouldn’t.

All this talk about how the pro wrestling bullshit is what this sport needs to expand neglects the fact that most of these fighters are living on sponsorships and endorsements. And for those checks to grow, Dana needs to get a tighter grip on what his guys are saying. Chael Sonnen and his lies and his bullshit are a blip on the march to MMA becoming a big-time sport.

I actually noticed when Chael and Anderson were talking to each other during the fight, but I just assumed they were talking trash to each other. Interesting stuff.

I’d be down for a Bisping/Sonnen fight. Just to show once again, Bisping is a B level fighter.

uuuh yeah I write for the Cincinnati Enquirer. Thanks?

Only happens if Chael loses to Vitor

and event then, only if it’s in a spectacular, one-sided fashion…. AND only if Bisping aces Akiyama decisively.

Chael did a phenomenal job as analyst. I would rank him right up there with the best I’ve heard from: Randy, Kenny, and Chael. Was highly impressed and hope they have him back. And the ending to MMA Live with the Bisping line, money in the bank.

it looks like he is punching A.S.’s tit in the photo

by oousty on Aug 13, 2010 1:26 PM EDT reply actions

Great breakdown

Chael really did study anderson’s fights extremely well. He knew his shit and was well prepared.

by SeanyD on Aug 13, 2010 2:32 PM EDT reply actions

What did Bisping say about Chael?

I’m interested to see what he said now.

Yeah I can see how Chael might get annoyed by that.

by SeanyD on Aug 14, 2010 12:11 AM EDT up reply actions

Hey, Chael's not married, right?

Do we know anything at all about his personal life? Girlfriends? Wives? Anything?

Yeah

Hes very much like Jon Fitch he LOVES the asians. Watch Dana Whites ufc blog part 2 and shes sitting next to him.

by SeanyD on Aug 14, 2010 4:08 PM EDT up reply actions

Hes better then Bonnar

His squirrel cheeks enrage me. Chaels so well spoken and clear with what he says and in the way he breaks down fights he really should consider it for maybe WEC. I mean they switch people every fight it seems now.

by SeanyD on Aug 14, 2010 12:13 AM EDT up reply actions

I really have stop watching Chael in these formats

I’m starting to kind of like him.

Tatum: I think he's a good man. I like him. I got nothing against him, but I'm definitely gonna make orphans of his children.

by Monte Fisto on Aug 13, 2010 4:19 PM EDT reply actions

It seems like they go out of their way to avoid showing the finish.

by DodgerFan86 on Aug 14, 2010 8:16 AM EDT reply actions

they can't

the UFC dosen’t allow them to show the finishes on HDNet either.

Big Country wants Big Nog

I like that fight. I don’t see Nelson getting it unless Nog loses to Mir again. If Nog wins maybe they set up Nelson against Mir.
