From the tape I watched he likes to get the fight to the ground and that’s where I’ve won all my fights. So I’m looking for a nice scrap on Friday. This is just ridiculous. It’s not gonna be an accurate representation of their abilities, especially in grappling.

I am not 100% sure what the rules are.
I read two 3 minute rounds here, but Sherdog had a different breakdown and theirs went into more detail and makes more sense.
From Sherdog:
One thing that will make Strikeforce’s tournament unique is that the four participants won’t know their opening-round opponent until Thursday night at the weigh-ins, as there will be a blind draw to determine the pairings. Also, to accommodate potentially having two fights in one night, each bout is being shortened from three five-minute to two-minute rounds for the semifinal bouts and three-minute rounds for the final fight.
Other additions to the regular rules include a fourth “sudden victory” round in case of a draw, which will be scored independently to decide the winner.
Another tweak is the “survivor role” in the case of an accidental foul. “If a semifinal bout ends prematurely due to an accidental, unintentional or no-fault foul, the ‘survivor rule’ will be implemented. The fighter who is fit to continue will advance,” according to the official rules.

I’m not a Strikeforce hater, but they’re just not very good at this. I hope they don’t go this route for the 185 tournament too.

I wonder the same thing. Two the minute rounds doesn’t make a lot of sense either though.
Tate better not sleep on any of these ladies. All of them are serious finishers, even Kujala in her short pro career.

Damm won’t win. She is a blown up 125 pounder who matches up poorly with both Tate and Akano.
To be honest, I think Akano is the best overall fighter in the bunch. Her record is deceptive because she is game as hell and fights a ton of chicks who are WAY bigger than her (her last opponent was a 170 pounder). That said, I think Tate can beat her if she executes a conservative wrestling-heavy game plan, particularly if she gets her in the shortened first round of the tournament.
The short rounds are going to make this garbage.
1st to score a takedown wins the round.
