Props to Sonnen for being brutally honest. A lot of guys would be rolling out a list of excuses about why they lost. Sonnen just says, “I lost, and it sucks.”

He’s always been like this. He’s putting on an act when he’s selling a fight. He’s just himself post fight. He bent over backwards talking about how awesome Yushin Okami was or how hard Nate Marquardt hit after his fights with them.

I’d much rather see a guy talk some trash leading up to the fight and then be respectful after, than a guy who plays nice on the lead up then starts spewing out excuses, BS, and lawyering moms when they lose.

Sure, but in this prefight, Chael was way off the scale on my bullshit meter into pro wrestling land, where everything is just expected to be outright lies. And it’s just my personal preference to return all that with pure hate:) He fought a great 23 minutes, so good for him. It’s one thing to talk trash about your opponent, what you’re going to do to him, and what have you…but Chael went WAY beyond all that, and he wasn’t anywhere near this level of bullshit before. It wasn’t even close, and goddamn I’m sick of hearing from him. Chael isn’t Andy friggin’ Kauffmann, and was LOVING the sound of his own voice and the attention, and got carried away. Sure he was trying to promote the fight and get paid, but that does nothing for me.

His honesty is chilling
He can hype a fight better than anyone but holy shit he the most honest after a fight. No clue how he would have reacted after if he won. I’d say he’d either have broken down and cried or he woulda kept up the act.

This was sad to watch. I don’t hate any fighter. Not even Tito. I have a huge respect for Sonnen now. He put in work against Silva and came up short but still has the heart of a true fighter. I hope to see him get another title shot someday.

Props to Sonnen, I can’t even begin to imagine how he’s feeling right now. So close, yet so far. Hell of a fight though, I was never a fan of his before, but dammit, he earned my admiration in that fight. And the guy probably doubled the amount of PPV buys single handedly…
