HAHA got to love Forrest. Jones next opponent is going to be interesting considering most of the top guys are tied up and he is clearly ready for the next level of fighters. Forrest might draw the short straw.

Clearly the apocalypse has been on Forrest’s mind. Jon Jones is the end of all things, at least at LHW. Love Forrest though. I’m glad he’s got another career panning out so well.

Jones would just ruin Griffin

I don’t see Dana doing that to Forrest, but he may be pressed into it.

Thiago Silva seems the ideal opponent to me, if he can ever get well.

He has the best combination of skills, name/rank and no one to protect him of anyone out there.

Either that, or give Jones the winner of Nog-Bader (could happen only if its Nog) or, even better, Machida after he clowns Rampage.

Thiago has already stated that he has no interest in fighting Jones because

Jones doesn’t have a worthwhile name. …Then he signed to face Tim Boestch.

Thiago wants no part of him.

Right, but

Thiago has the misfortune of being a step up, not having a fight set already, not being a real “name” guy and having no “protecter” to keep him out of it.

If Dana publicly suggests him as the next opponent, I thinks he’s it, unless he gets hurt again.

I think its in the UFC’s and Jones’ best interest to sacrafice a “name” to him, preferable in his next fight, whether its Griffin, Franklin, Couture, or Rampage doesn’t really matter, but because he still has some drawing power I’m not sure it will happen.

Its much like where Machida was before he fought Rashad – a horrible, high-risk match-up for anyone at LHW.

If I were in Dana/Joe’s shoes, if its not going to be Griffin, I’d announce that Jones gets the winner (or even loser, although that would put them on a 3-loss streak afterwards) of Machida-Rampage.

Silva is a talented young exciting fighter.

I think he has more of a future in the UFC than some of the older guys.

He is, I agree

I just think if the UFC is left between having to sacrafice Thiago or Forrest, Silva is the odd man out.

I would really like to see the winner of Nog-Bader fight Jones. After that, either man (probably Jones) will have a shot at a top five LHW.

by Keren on Aug 11, 2010 10:20 AM EDT up reply actions

With the way the UFC likes to have simultaneous "tracks" toward title shots

I don’t see that happening, and it will certainly not if Bader wins. We won’t see Jones-Bader at anything other than a title fight until one or both have legitimate losses to set them back.

Diet Nog-Jones is a possibility though, perhaps even if he loses a close decision to Bader.

What you say is completely true. I think that Jones will probably square off with the loser of that fight, but I would like to see Jones fight Bader more — especially since both fighters have a wrestling background and have KO power — but it probably won’t happen.

I could see Randy being willing to take on Jones

Franklin vs Griffin is a fight I would like to see. One nice guy gets a win regardless and it should be a good fight.

I could see Randy jumping aboard the Jon Jones train. Randy is old and really has never gave a fuck about wins or losses he just wants big fights. Jones vs Couture would be a pretty solid main event. Winner of Couture vs Toney gets Jones

makes sense to me

Nothing is really going to tarnish Randy’s name in the sport at this point – that’s what being a hallofamezor means. Plus he’s already drawing social security and just looking at Jones will let most casuals who don’t know his record that he’s a big bag of problems. I see it more as a co-main at this point, though.

Yep.

Randy like a challenge and unless they give him Machida, I could see him testing himself against Jones.

I STILL don't think Toney is going to fight Randy

I bet he pulls out with a stupid injury excuse a week before the fight. Jones can step in because he wouldn’t have to cut weight, and there we go, his first win over a huge name

noone wants to fight jbj

queue James Toney trolling… I do love and respect Forrest for his honestly but it very much borders self-depreciation

"Wait why didn't I kill that motherfvker"

by Ze Pequeno on Aug 11, 2010 9:19 AM EDT up reply actions

No bordering about it

He is being self-depricating. That’s who he is. But seriously, the guy’s never turned down a fight – I sincerely doubt he wouldn’t fight Jones.

Now, winning the fight? That’s another story…

I doubt Forrest can beat JBJ in a jumping on boxes contest.

I want Kim Winslow or Tan Dan to ref Tito Ortiz' next loss.

by MMAInFeRioRiTy on Aug 11, 2010 9:20 AM EDT reply actions

well played, Forrest

I don’t really see one of the “all-around” guys beating Jones at this point except for maybe Shogun. Evans’ wrestling, or Lil’ Nog’s BJJ might be the way to defeat him. That said, I’d love to see him against anyone at this point, damn the consequences. 1:30 of not getting hit against Vlady means he’s healthy and could probably take anything on fairly short notice should an injury knock someone out.

Comeon.

Forrest isn’t the best fighter in the world, but he always shows up and has had some crazy upsets.

by Keren on Aug 11, 2010 1:45 PM EDT up reply actions

Can I get a three round war with Jones winning the decision? I can’t stand to see Forrest get KTFO’d.

To me it all depends on what Forrest shows up the guy who beat up and kicked the crap out of Shogun and Rampage. Or the guy who got tooled by Rashad and Silva, i’m not sure but i’m also not crazy enough to discount Forrest exposing another fighter that was supposed to destroy him.
