Bobby Lashley has high hopes. At the press conference for Strikeforce: Houston Bobby spoke of his lofty aspirations: "Before, I didn't know where my level was, but I've been training with different people, I've got different people coming in and different camps that I'm going to. Of late I trained with Cain, regarded as one of the best heavyweights right now, and Cormier and some other heavyweights. My level is really high. I'm really confident of where it is. After this fight, if it goes where I hope it goes, I'm going straight to the top. I know where my abilities are." Lashley is starting to get a sense of his abilities as he has played the role of Brock Lesnar in Cain's training. We have heard him talk about challenging Fedor in the past. Yet, his next fight is not against Sergei Kharitonov or Shane del Rosario, it is against Chad Griggs. A man who has fought once in almost three years and works part time as a paramedic. In short, we can not take Bobby Lashley seriously. So, his next fight shouldn't be serious either. Dana White is putting on a circus show with the Toney vs Couture match and Strikeforce should have no hesitancy to put on its own with Lashley vs Batista. Put it on a card that has some great fights. Maybe Overeem vs Werdum and Mayhem Miller vs Nick Diaz. A King Mo vs Mousasi rematch. Bring Gina Carano back for a comeback match. Ditch Gus Johnson and hire good ol' JR to partner with Mauro or Miletech. Now you have a card that some fight fans would pluck down $50 to watch. And you still have Fedor in the wings along with the middleweight tournament, a Hendo v Sobral fight and hopefully someone to challenge Cyborg. We all know, whether we like it or not, that MMA's success in the US is tied to professional wrestling. Plenty has already been said about that. Bobby Lashley has bored us to death with his career to date. Now, it's time to take one for the team and help make Strikeforce a stronger organization. I think it's important to have more than one big time MMA organization. UFC simply does not have the bandwidth to showcase all of the world's top fighters. I want Strikeforce to thrive along side UFC. So, Bobby, till you take this fight no top talent for you!
