Dream 15 Weigh-in Results

Weights courtesy of Sherdog's Tony Loiseleur:

Shinya Aoki (70 kg / 154.3 lbs) vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri (70 kg / 154.3 lbs)
Katsunori Kikuno (70 kg / 154.3 lbs) vs. Gesias Cavalcante (70 kg / 154.3 lbs)
Gegard Mousasi (93 kg / 205 lbs) vs. Jake O'Brien (did not weigh in; reportedly still cutting)
Tatsuya Mizuno (92.5 kg / 203.9 lbs) vs. Melvin Manhoef (90 kg / 198.4 lbs)
Michihiro Omigawa (64.8 kg / 142.9 lbs) vs. Young Sam Jung (64.8 kg / 142.9 lbs)
Mitsuhiro Ishida (65 kg / 143.3 lbs) vs. Daiki Hata (65 kg / 143.3 lbs)
Kazuhiro Nakamura (83.8 kg / 184.7 lbs) vs. Karl Amoussou (83.5 kg / 184 lbs)

Loiseleur also reports on this special moment between lightweight champ Shinya Aoki and challenger Tatsuya Kawajiri:

"I don't really like to take a look at men's bodies, so I didn't really look at him. He said he'll surprise the fans. I'll make sure ours will be a shocking fight," said the challenger.

"I like both men and women," retorted Aoki, running with the gag Kawajiri gave him. "His body is a nice body, and if we both fight with men's spirit, we can have a fight that everyone wants to see."

I'll be live-blogging the show as it airs live on HDNet at 3 a.m. ET this Saturday, so be sure to join myself and the BE Night Crew for another sleep-deprived MMA marathon.

It’s nice to see the Tobikan Judan is still creepy as hell.

Over/under on the number of comments before the Aoki/Imanari pics pop up – 6.5.

And it’s funny that it says O’Brien wasn’t there because he was still cutting…yet they attribute comments to him about his wrestling being similar to Mo’s. Am I missing something?

Those comments were from yesterday's individual fighter interviews

Actually, a lot of the comments in the piece was from the individual fighter interview day on Thursday, while the weigh-in was on Friday.

The usual press schedule for major shows in Japan are generally like that—two days out, they trot out the fighters for th collected media to lob topical questions at, and then the day before, they weigh them in and ask for a perfunctory comment afterward like, “what’s your impression of seeing your opponent face to face?” and such-like.

Was that comment in jest or is he literally gay?

He’s just being awkward as usual. WAR CRUSHER, SMASH THAT FOOL!

"Referees, be sure to step in and stop the fight on time tomorrow, because I might get carried away in the moment and my many punches may end up destroying my opponent." - Tatsuya "CRUSHER" Kawajiri

Very awkward comment

by Aoki. Kawajiri is gonna knock him out.

Goddamn, Aoki is tiny.

Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.

by Geno Mrosko on Jul 9, 2010 2:29 AM EDT reply actions

He's a 6-foot-tall lightweight.

and he doesn’t cut a lot of weight, so what do you expect?

by Anton Tabuena on Jul 9, 2010 3:44 AM EDT up reply actions

He's really 6 feet tall?

Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.

by Geno Mrosko on Jul 9, 2010 3:59 AM EDT up reply actions

Dream lists him at 180cm (5’11").

by Chris Nelson on Jul 9, 2010 4:00 AM EDT up reply actions

Wow.

That’s just crazy. Way too little for being that tall.

Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.

HitokiriX

Might be saying that he’d want Aoki on his side in a street fight, defending Aoki’s sick skills despite his light weight

I’m reminded of that picture where Aoki was pulling off mayhem’s britches in a gym…

In that picture it looks like Aoki is invoking his inner Nick Diaz and hulking out.

by DirtyML on Jul 9, 2010 3:25 AM EDT reply actions

Agree. I think that’s about as tough as Aoki is capable of looking. (Not very.)

He’s also been staring at the ground in every picture I’ve seen of him this week.

Damn...

I miss the BE night crew… I’ve been too busy to keep up with the day-to-day chatter but I’ll never miss a night crew gathering!!!!!! I love you guys…

Ricco Rodriguez could fight at this card because of Obrien's weight issues.

Depends if against Jake at HW, or Mousasi at LHW (where he will have to cut weight at the very last minute) …if not, he’s probably fighting on DREAM.16

I wish they could've kept Ricco on this card

I wanna see him get a few more wins then go to the UFC
