so...
you are saying losing to a top 5 light heavyweight in the world is bad? Plus Melvin is a tank standing up and considering Mark Hunt is a self proclaimed Stand Up artist, we all knew who would win that fight.
We need the Gif of Mark Hunt pancaking Wanderlei Silva like a Yokozuna Bomb.

To be fair
one of those middleweights arguably has the most power, pound for pound, in any combat sport. Manhoef’s power is proof that there is no kind and merciful god.

It is hard to make excuses for a guy who shows up out of shape and has been worked 5 times in a row. That is like saying JaMarcus Russell failed because the Chargers are a good team.
the problem is
Mark Hunt has never really been relevant as an MMA fighter, nor did anybody say he was.
The guy is a fun fighter to watch regardless, and seeing him try to cut down to 265 will even be more fun. If Mark Hunt decides “meh I want to take this seriously” then there could be some fun match-ups in the wing if he wins.
I just want to see a Wanderlei/Mark Hunt II match.

I’d say he was relevant when he beat Cro Cop right after CC beat Barnett.

exactly right Mr. NC-17 every one who knows anything about Mark Hunt knows this already. Bottom line he is a fun fighter to watch who can take a beatinig and will always bring it. I actually think if Hunt is seripus about fighting at HW and cutting down and making 265 there are alot of great fights that Joe Silva could make with him in the UFC.
Therein lies his problem
And one that his fellow Samoans share. They don’t like to train, I have seen plenty of talent, toughness and fighting intelligence, they even learn well. But they hate to get themselves in shape. I can’t deal with them when they come into the gym.
Too bad The Rock never tried MMA. He’s in shape.

Not saying Hunt is any sort of force, or even relevant these days
but none of his losses are to bums. Barnett, Fedor, Overeem, Manhoef, and Mousasi with Semmy in K1 thrown in there is a serious murderer row. And I’ll take any excuse to talk about how fucking awesome Manhoef’s power is. He’s actually being used to accelerate particles at the LHC because even modern technology can’t replicate the force he creates.

Who cares and what is with this crusade against Hunt. There are a hell of alot of exciting fights to make with him in the UFC’s HW devision. I don’t think most of his fans mind that we won’t ever see him jump guard in a fight now ?
I just don't understand why he is a great addition to the UFC...
He hasn’t been winning. Bring back Wes Sims!!
you know dam well there not even in the same boat now. Hunt has wins over decent competition now. And when not eathing house and home Hunt is actually a decent fighter who brings it.
Not every fight or fighter in the UFC has to be some top10 fighter now or some young prospect. If there are good fights to make like Hunt vs Crocop 2 I am all for it.
because….
It’s Mark Hunt.
LOL @ that.
Anyway, this makes Dana White look like such a moron. Not interested in Dana White but interested in a guy thats 5-6?
Laughable.
@fjbar on twitter...formerly El Mexicutioner
really ? Lets just see how much of a Moron Dana looks like when UFC fans are up out of there seats screaming in the middle of lets say Hunt vs CroCop 2 or Hunt VS Pat Berry,JDS, Kongo, etc There are so many great fights that you can use Hunt for in the UFC believe it or not
out of there seats screaming in the middle of lets say Hunt vs CroCop 2 or Hunt VS Pat Berry,JDS, Kongo, etc
Based on his last five fights… That only equates to brief screams in the first 30 seconds…

I wonder if Dana will call up Mark Hunt and tell him he isn’t going on “fucking vacation” and “he better be training” instead of getting fat… because Hunt is already at fat.

Obviously Hunt is being brought in to loose so they can call – What’s his name? Oh ya McCorkle -the greatest fighter in the world with an undefeated record Having fought in epic battles over K1/Pride monsters like Mark Hunt. That is what they did with Carwin and that is what they are doing here. The last thing Dana wants is for Hunt to get in shape and derail their plan.
Mark will be kicked out again after this fight. But it is nice to see him get a pay check and for him to be one of the “greatest fighters in the world” again for one more fight.
HTML5 + WebM now! Death to Flash!!!
Mark Hunt hasn’t taken this sport seriously for a loooooooooooong time (and even then he wasn’t exactly killing himself training). Not sure what to expect out of this, but I’m looking forward to Mark Hunt being tired and worn out from being in terrible shape as well as cutting to 265 and winning an ugly decision over this McCorkle guy.

If he wins by decision, it’ll be the ugliest decision win ever. Hunt has about 2 minutes of gas in his tank at this point in his career.

I’m seeing a fight where he can’t KO Hunt and struggles to take him down.

Heh. This sounds like the same logic stated when I won huge money on Manhoef winning and knocking out Hunt in the first round. Who knows how good Hunt’s chin is these days. McCorkle might bomb him.

I don't think you can count on 2 minutes of gas...
Four of his last five losses have come within the first 2:02 of the first round.

Leland have to ever watched Hunt fight saying a line like that make me think you probably have never watched him fight ? He actually has a pretty dam good gas tank for such a BIG man
Sence he lost most of those fights in the last 4 years in under 3 mins. There are no fights in that time spand I could base a opinion about his gas tank on sence in K1 or MMA to know where his cardio now stands. It just seems like a statement someone would make buy just looking at a picture of Hunts physique but never watching him fight. Most MMA fans who ever watched Hunt fight in his k1 or pride days would know his cardio is pretty good for his size.
Will Hunt make 265? If he could get some sort of motivation back it would be great but I can’t see it. This is a bit of a shock, didn’t see him being in the UFC

Dana always says UFC wants to sign fighters who are on their way up or peaking….5 losses in a row?? I hope this isn’t true, Mark Hunt is great at standup, but he won’t make it far unless they only pair him up with other strikers (which I think is the mma equivalent to when boxing are protecting fighters with easy fights – i.e. BS)

Seriously! McCorkle looks like he weighs well over 300lbs himself in the videos on youtube. Granted he’s 6’7 so it doesn’t looks as bad considering what some of his opponents look like. If it’s true the most interesting aspect of this fight might be how both he and Hunt do to make weight. That might determine the whole outcome right there.
Joe Silva: Ha! I heard Mark Hunt wants a crack at the UFC

Exactly.
Anyone not named Mark Hunt would never get into UFC with a five-loss streak (six if one were to count getting KTFO by Semmy Schilt in 2008, but that was in K-1). Joe Silva must have a raging clue about McCorkle to give him a match like this.

Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.
I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.
I find it funny that Dana is talking down Fedor, Werdum and Overeem and then deciding to sign a guy on a 5-fight losing streak who was beaten by fedor and by Overeem who in turn was beaten by Werdum.
oh well.

Hunt shook that shit off like it was a tap. Definitely scary.
Also, I would give Hunt the benefit of the doubt if this fight ever ends up happening. He’s got a good set of whiskers, K-1 level striking (relatively speaking) a decent understanding of submissions (almost pulled a keylock on Fedor) and as stated before, his only losses are to high level guys.
I’ll definitely be rooting for him should this fight come to fruition.

Mark Hunt????
Are you sure your sources don’t have a UFC fight mixed up with a Strikeforce fight???? Why on god’s green earth would the UFC sign a guy with several straight losses in the minor leagues?
They are certainly signing more and more guys who have to cut weight to make 265, or at the very least are really tall. That Chute Boxe guy they just signed is 6’7, Christian Morecraft looks to be about 6’8 and near 265lbs. Now Hunt and McCorkle. Travis Browne already debuted, and I think Chad Corvin, who had to cancel his fight cause of injury, is over 250lbs too. Bigger and bigger heavyweights seem to be the way they are going.
This is just ridiculous (if true)
So Dana won’t let Chuck fight again, but he brings in Hunt from a momumental losing streak? No comprendo
