Where Is The Love For Leben!

I am not trying to make a insightful well thought out fanpost here. Look at my previous fanposts and comments and you will see that I am an eternal noob always putting my foot into my mouth. I was entertained and totally impressed with Chris Leben on Saturday. First, he fought on seriously short notice. Not just short notice, two weeks after a fight against a serious threat. Just taking that fight is impressive. The first round he spent a good deal of time fighting off submission attempts. The second round I doubt he even remembers after getting seriously rocked and eating several well placed blows to his head and face which I am now convinced are probably bullet proof. In the third round it looked like once he got taken down it was probably over but the crazy mother fucker sets up and completes triangle choke in the last minute of the round for the win! Like him or not that shit was impressive and he deserves some props.

I'm with it
He showed a tremendous amount of heart in an absolutely amazing fight. I said before the Simpson fight that this type of Chris Leben could be around giving top guys tough fights for years to come. I love it.

I’m more impressed by Leben’s 116 performance than I am by Brock’s.
I want Kim Winslow or Tan Dan to ref Tito Ortiz' next loss.

Gotta love Leben! Was worried where he was headed after being choked out by Jake Rosholt of all people, but here he is, looking a top 10 player again. Chris has supplied some highlight reel moments down the years, and i definitely wouldn’t mind seeing Leben vs Wanderlei!! Credit to Akiyama to though!! I’d imagine he was giving up at least 10 pounds come fight time. Yoshihiro, cut to 170!!
Huh?
Akiyama weighed in at 185.

I think he is telling Yoshihiro to cut to 170.

Leben put on an awesome performance, and all props in the world to him.
He just had the great misfortune of putting on an awesome performance a few minutes before one of the most epic championship fights of all time, making him little more than an afterthought.
I called Leben as soon as I heard he was replacing Wandy
but that doesn’t make me any less impressed. If Lesnar had won in any other fashion Leben would be the big story of 116. He showed amazing BJJ, I really look forward to him being a factor at 185 in the future and would love to see him get a rematch with Bisping and KTFO him.

I think that leben
suffers from the same things as kos from season 1 of TUF…Most ppl made their final judgments on chris from watching how he acted on the show..As far as I can tell he is a polarizing figure like brock where you love or hate him. I was very impressed with his performance as he took shot after shot to the head and his face before the third round as the crowd started to roar is priceless. The fact he ended the fight by triangle is just icing on the cake for his performance.
I haven’t really been a big fan of Leben’s skills, but I’ve always loved his attitude toward fighting. But with that said, I was hugely impressed by both wins. If Aaron Simpson can’t take him down consistently, and Akiyama can’t sub or pound him out when he’s clearly been badly rocked twice, then I’d have to say his wrestling and jujitsu have improved enormously. So good luck to the next guy, cause that opponent is probably going to have to fight Chris on the feet, and that is not a good place to be for most fighters. His kicking game also looked much sharper, and his energy and appeal to the crowd were, and damn I cringe at saying this, but Wanderlei-esque. I was really fired up for him even though I’m a bigger fan of Akiyama, and that was my fight of the year so far. Just epic. The moment, in the second I think, when they were both staggered, Korean zombie style and just looking at each other, was hilarious. We were going nuts at my place. Akiyama was thinking, “How do I kill it???!” and Leben was thinking, “My God, he’s beautiful!” Just wowowowow…in tribute to weoweoweo.

Yeah it sounds like they’re both interested, but supposedly Wand is out until the beginning of next year, so I can’t imagine Leben waiting that long. Hopefully he gets another fight so I can root for him one more time, before I have to pray for his destruction via Axe Murderer.

I don't know I think Leben ....
…. could give Wandy issues after nearly a year off .

Well, I hate to say it, but he could give Wandy issues right now. The thing Wand always has going for him is that at any moment, he might just land one and knock you out. Leben’s the same, but you’ve got to give Leben the distinct advantage in resistance to getting knocked out. Wand is still a much better kickboxer in my opinion, but Leben’s improvements in his wrestling and ground game will also have me worried a bit if this fight happens, though I doubt that it will.

Good for him.
I knows he’s done some stupid stuff in the past but who hasn’t? Leben seemingly has found a place where he’s happy, stable and getting some really good training in.
I have no delusions about him ever holding the middleweight crown but you put him on a card and you know there’s going to be at least one great fight.
if u put it that way
as long as anderson is champ, the middleweight division is at gatekeeper status.
Check his bank account
I bet its full of love right about now
How did I end up on this bandwagon and why does everything say property of Chael Sonnen?
Leben is the man.
I knew he would pull it out but by the 3rd round, I had serious SERIOUS doubts about my prediction prowess.

I’ve had Leben’s fight listed as one of my favorite moments of the night everytime I’ve talked about how good UFC 116 was. And it was a HUGE moment at the hooters I was at as well, everybody was on their feet after he pulled out the win and they were going crazy when he was taking shots in the second and just coming forward like a zombie for more. I was worried the main event wouldn’t live up to that fight actually.
