Gotta agree with Dana.

UFC 116 was the best card of the year so far IMO.

Yea every fight was a great war.

The Grove/Reljic fight was the weakest fight they showed, and that was a good scrap so that shows you how good the other fights were.

Leben and Sexyama swinging on each other in Zombie mode was crazy.

Oh, for sure. By the time Leben pulled out his win and the hooters I was at exploded, I didn’t think the main event was going to top it. But wow, even it managed to in it’s own way.

Dude I bet the bar was going nuuuuuuts

Please give detail on how they reacted to the Brock fight. Last Brock fight I saw at the bar was his debut, and people were going crazy until Mir pulled off the armbar. Then the bar exploded. Then everyone left. And me and my friends watched Nog win the belt (meeeeemooooriiiiieeees) in an empty bar.

by fozo2 on Jul 4, 2010 11:23 AM EDT up reply actions

I was surprised that there were not as many boos for Brock as I was expecting before the fight actually and some (myself included) were booing when Shane was announced (mostly b/c my friend sitting with us was going for Shane and we were giving crap to each other all night waiting for the fight).

You could definitely tell the place was worked up when Shane had Brock down, but it wasn’t crazy, just loud with both sides cheering for their guy to do what they needed to do. I think my mouth was hanging open for a few moments when Brock went down at first. My friend was yelling to stop the fight and I was yelling Shane wasn’t landing any damage (then the elbow landed). As Brock worked his way up to his feet you could hear people yelling louder, but of course the round ended.

I could hear people commenting that Brock was smiling still and that Carwin looked gassed. Some people said so was Brock, but I didn’t think he looked as bad as Carwin, especially considering their roles in round one. My girlfriend said Brock’s face didn’t really look that bad for all the punching Shane was doing.

Round two was just more of that same excited anticipation when Brock took him down…then got the mount…I think most were expecting some GnP here b/c people were like “here it comes”. Then he took side control and started working the choke and the place actually got quieter. Once Carwin’s arm popped all the way up, a lot of people knew that was all she wrote and started calling the fight. When Shane tapped man, it was crazier than when Hendo KO’d Bisping (and that was crazy at the bar).

(And yea, it totally emptied out after that fight too)
oh, and I know Luke and some others have talked about this not clearing a million buys, but I don’t know. The bar was just as packed as it was for UFC100 and the hooters we go to is huge. I know it’s not the same as selling PPVs to homes, but it’s actually been a pretty good indication of how well PPVs end up doing as to how busy they are when I go to a fight. I don’t think it will outsell 100, but I think it will break a mil.

I could listen to Heyman all day

The Brock book is gonna sell.

Maybe a movie? Who plays evil Mazz? Who was the White guy from National Security with Martin Lawrence?

Heyman Hating on the older wrestlers?

Maybe it was just the female hormones but he seemed…jealous?of the wrestlers having Brock as a friend. Funny interview. They got to get their house in order? Whatever dude. He’s got to get to a treadmill. Both Goldberg and Austin are in their 40’s and they can still wear a tight t-shirt.

I don’t think that was directed at the wrestlers. That was directed at Vincent Kennedy McMahon.

Listening to Jim Ross and Steve Austin talk about MMA is weird.

Not that I disagree with anything they said.

I specializes in grammar fail.

I knew Jim Ross has a great deal of knowledge for MMA, but Steve Austin sounded like a real fan of the sport as well. I was just a kid watching him be the drunk redneck on TV, so that certainly effects my level of surprise. lol

Follow Jim Ross' blog.

He always writes about MMA and offers some real insight and perspective on what is happening in the sport.

I believe sooner rather than later JR will become more involved.

The main event was definitely a slobberknocker.
