--James Toney, talked to FightHype, and responds to Jon Jones' statements where he called the boxer "ignorant" for criticizing Mixed Martial Arts.
Here is what Jones said on TapouT Radio that riled up James "Lights Out" Toney:
"Really? Do you really think you're going to uppercut a collegiate wrestler when he's going full force into a double leg dive? I think he [James Toney] is just really naive to think that with hand combinations alone he's going to be able to defend takedowns from the clinch and collegiate double leg dives. I think he's just ignorant in a way and I don't really have a hard time calling him ignorant because of some of the statements he's made about our sport."

Otherwise, he can say he was jumped, it wasn’t fair, etc. If he gets his ass handed to him in a fair fight, he can still whine (esp. if it’s a sub, because grappling is totally gay), but no right-thinking person will believe him.

sounds like a great fight to ease Jones into Heavy Weight and to launch Toney out of the UFC…and MMA altogether.

I would pick James Toney in a street fight over say, you or me, but not with anyone with any legit MMA experience. Heck, I don’t know if I’d even pick him in a street fight over another boxer. For God’s sake, he’s 41 years old, fat, out of shape, and despite being a pro boxer, he’s not exactly the hardest puncher in the world. Not exactly the makings of a great street fighter.
I wouldn’t bother him though.

He hits hard enough
to devastate anyone unaccustomed to being hit extremely hard repeatedly.
Street fighting comes down to viciousness and experience. Tito Ortiz got knocked out cold by a Lee Murray outside after UFC 38.
Outside the cage, MMA sanctioned moves are not the best. An eye gouge or throat punch makes any man 10x less badass. UFC fighters still get there ass whooped. Its guys like Leben and Liddell who fuck shit up in real life.
Pat Miletich, on the brawl at UFC 38:
“I looked over and Chuck Liddell was with his back against the wall, knocking people out that were trying to go after him. Then I looked over and there’s Tito directly past me, taking his coat off, going after Lee Murray, and Lee Murray’s backing up the alley taking his jacket off. Both their jackets come off, and Tito throws a left hook at Lee Murray and misses, and right as he missed, Lee Murray counters with, like, a five-punch combo, landed right on the chin, and knocked Tito out. The list of moves, strikes and techniques not allowed in MMA is a very long one indeed.
Put any top MMA fighter in a cage with a top special forces guy and the MMA guy will be broken, disfigured, dislocated and/or dead very quickly.

James Toney will have a short career in the UFC
I feel like he knows that he wont last more than a fight or two before his game is so seriously exposed that the UFC is forced to cut him, so he’s just calling out as many big names as possible.
I give him 30 sec to 1 minute...
depending on how squirrely Couture feels, before he is exposed utterly and completely.
