Did Toney call Couture “Princess?”

80s WWF pre-fight interviews?
It kinda reminded me of Randy “Macho Man” Savage interviewing for his match against Hogan back in the 80s.

Yes
Macho Man’s interview right before his Wrestlemania match with Hogan. Hulk Hogan always had jealous eyes around Miss Elizabeth.

It was in reference to that commercial Couture does for the gym equipment, where he says “Let’s go princess.”

I thought we were talking about Toney in the 118 clip above?
He says, “Hey, Princess? I’mma getcha!”

What do you think Edgar's strategy is going into this fight?
Certainly can’t be the same one from the first fight— can it?

With the speed advantage Edgar has I’d be willing to bet that the strategy, if not the same, is very similar. Sitting in Penn’s guard is a terrible idea and so is sitting in front of him trading punches, so a similar strategy would seem to be the best route to victory for Edgar.

“Sitting in Penn’s guard is a terrible idea "
ehh, Penn’s never scored a sub from guard, so it’s not like it’s an unthinkable strategy.
It’s a terrible idea.
Penn may not sub guys from guard, but he sweeps and reverses guys like nobodies business. GSP is the only guy who has ever had any success controlling Penn on the ground, and Edgar is no GSP. Edgar also won’t have the benefit of a Phil Nurse Vaseline rub.
Ture
I wouldn’t suggest Edgar messing around in BJs guard. In fact, anything from the ground is a bad idea for Edgar.
I think this match will answer the question of whether or not there is any power in Edgar’s gloves.

BJ has said repeatedly that he doesn’t think you can win rounds off of your back in American MMA, period. He says American scoring heavily weights “octagon control” and apparently “deciding where the fight takes place” is way more important to the judges than inflicting damage.
BJ is right.
Penn therefore has no subs from the guard, but a shitload of RNC’s. When he is in gaurd he activlely tries to get back to his feet or sweep his opponent. 5 minutes is a really short time to go sub someone with good submission defense from the bottom.

I think Penn will be on to that though.
I think Penn will put more pressure on him looking to corner and get his hands on him.
That’s why I can’t imagine Edgar using the same strategy again (unless he feels BJ has gotten slow).

It's really Frankie Edgar vs BJ Penn
Not the other way around. Frankie Edgar’s gotten no respect since he won the title, hopefully it makes him fight harder.
I think Edgar didn’t get much respect after winning because almost everyone felt he lost that fight.
The same thing happened with Machida after his first victory over Rua.

Damn
Phil Baroni is on the untelevised portion of the undercard? That’s some harsh shit.
I get the feeling The Best Evah’s pay is gonna outstrip the rest of the undercard combined though.

Probably hoping
for a KO in the first 2 minutes to show later in the broadcast.
If that doesn’t happen, Baroni would not WANT his fight televised. He will be getting beat down.

The Prodigy will prevail....
….or maybe he’ll have another Sinus infection that will bog down his fight game?
Nah.
In all honesty, I think Penn will be extremely fierce in this rematch, reminiscent of his zeal in the Sean Sherk Fight.
As peppy as Edgar is, I think Penn will be all over him this time. He will out-strike Edgar on the feet and if Edgar takes BJ down again, I think BJ won’t stay idle this time. We’re talking about a guy who has one of the most dangerous guards in MMA, an excellent rubber guard and achieved his BJJ black belt in only 3 years time.
Time for the Hilo Kid to lick off the blood off his gloves again.

“We’re talking about a guy who has one of the most dangerous guards in MMA,”
Really? How many subs from guard does he have?
There is more to BJJ than submissions.
BJ’s guard is plenty dangerous because of his sweeps and reversals.

Of course. But he doesn’t really score sweep after sweep, either. And the reason is, he just doesn’t end up on his back very often.
I’m not saying BJ isn’t awesome off of his back, simply that because of how rarely he ends up on his back, and who he ends up on his back against (ie. GSP), he hasn’t actually demonstrated himself as having “one of the most dangerous guards in MMA”
You're right.
BJ predominantly is always the guy on top and if he does get a submission, it’s because of the aforementioned circumstance. I should have worded it better and said he has one of the most “defensive” guards in MMA.

I hope BJ actually uses wrestling offensively in this fight. If he puts Frankie on his back it’s pretty much game over.
This is what was missing from the previous fight. Penn has very good timing on his takedowns and his wrestling is actually very good, especially for a BJJ guy. Edgar isn’t that easy to take down though and Penn might be concerned about wasting energy. Nevertheless if I were Penn I would make takedowns part of my game plan.

Yeah, Frankie Edgar was able to avoid takedowns in the first matchup
… But, I don’t see that happening in the second matchup. I think BJ will not make his takedown attempts so obvious this time around, but still make Edgar work instead of standing in the middle of the ring allowing him to dance around for 5 rounds.

Justice will be served for gifts received at the hands of the judges
It happened to Forrest, Machida, and now Frankie. BJ will finish Frankie.
$100 pays $485 on Toney?
You bet your ass I am taking that money. Sorry, Randy, but I think you’re getting your lights turned out.
