99-1????

Ok I get Jon Jones is the next big thing but 99%-1%? Vladdy and considering he’s only lost to Lil Nog, Tito, Arlovski and White I think he should get a little more credit than that

by DCJon. on Jul 27, 2010 9:37 AM EDT reply actions

Who’s your pick to win then?

Also, would be fun to hear who’s the single person that picked Vlad, heh..

by Horselover Fat on Jul 27, 2010 9:43 AM EDT up reply actions

Well I might but a small bet on Vlad just because of the odds, just don’t see how it can be 99-1 like even when GSP and Anderson fight, the people they match up against are given a better chance

by DCJon. on Jul 27, 2010 9:51 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah

I picked Jones, but I am surprised there aren’t more plays based on those odds.

by truck on Jul 27, 2010 9:54 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah I see your point. These are just the fight picks though, straight up who you think is more likely to win, but I could of course understand placing an underdog bet on Vladdy.

by Horselover Fat on Jul 27, 2010 9:58 AM EDT up reply actions

it's like that

cause everyone is at least as smart as you are.

Yes! More people make bad bets! I am not happy with this sound picking! Aren’t there more idiots in the world? Come on, more people be irrational! Pick Matyushenko!

Facts don't come with points of view.

by Robert Livingston on Jul 27, 2010 10:11 AM EDT up reply actions

This is a case

of everyone knows Vlad is a dangerous fighter who could be a problem for Jones, yet everyone expects Jones to win, yet everyone expects there are other people who expect Vlad to upset Jones, yet when the tally is taken, everyone went with Jones.

Yeah, this is crazy

Odds on MMA Playground reflect fanboy hype, not reality.

Vlady is a very tough challenge. Heck, just the fluke factor of disqualification is more than 99-1 with a guy like Jones, who throws a lot of unorthodox moves.

Vegas is a bit closer to reality:

Jon Jones -600
Vladimir Matyushenko +400

You misunderstand

The odds aren’t 99-1. That just who is picking who to win on the picks side of the ledger, not the betting side.

Plus this was posted before many people will make their picks, I’m sure it will go higher at the time of the fights for Vladdy. But not much higher.

1% picked the janitor? Is there a 1% margin of error?

TV Listing?

Hmmm…I don’t see this on my TV guide. Is this event a PPV or is Versus 2 a channel that will pop up on the day of the event as free TV?

by Ragnar808 on Jul 27, 2010 9:54 AM EDT reply actions

Not sure if you’re being serious, but it’s on Versus, with the ‘2’ indicating that it’s the second event held for the channel. If you get Versus (or The Score in Canada) you will be able to see it for free.

I can get behind most picks but 1% for Vlad is cruel:)

This is the best I've done yet..

Jake Ellenberger vs. John Howard is the closet fight theoretically and pick wise on this card. Pumped for it.

by moonlapse88 on Jul 27, 2010 2:48 PM EDT reply actions

Rec'd

I don’t have much cash left, but I’m still trying to hold it down on the predictions.

$1500 parlay on Kelly/Ellenberger/Griffin

I’m 18-3 in my 2 week history of picking these games.

Nick Garcia is the Brian Russell of MLS but 10 times worse.

I need a big comeback here. I got my ass handed to me at 116.

There's no depth to my shallowness.
