Kind of surprised Hamill’s the favorite. That’s going to be an interesting fight.
And this is a sick, sick card. I hope there’s a Spike show before the PPV, because there are way more than 5 PPV-worthy fights there.

I'm not
I think there’s something wrong with Tito physically, and Vegas knows it.

There is something wrong with Tito.
He is coming back way too fast from neck surgery.
Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.

About to be more cracked...
I like Fedor, it’s just his fans that are intolerable...and his management.
His Doctor said his neck was about 90% healed last month. So he would be right on schedule come October.

I like all the match-ups on this one..The Schaub-Gonzaga fight and the Duffee-Madsen are great. It will answer some questions about where those guys fall in the UFC rankings. Kampman-Shields will also answer a lot of questions…Can’t wait!!

Pretty solid card
Should have plenty of entertainment value, looking forward to it.
On another note…Paulo Thiago’s record is wrong, he’s 13-2
Is it a good idea to stack this card so strongly when Brock is on it, and already the biggest draw? I’m thinking of it from both perspectives, the casual fans will pay to see Brock, and most likely see a lot of other awesome fights, which could pique their interest in MMA more… But meanwhile, people are complaining about lackluster cards right around the same time-frame… Just can’t decide if this is a wise decision for them. I personally don’t care, because i watch every event, and am going to see the fights regardless of when they’re scheduled… But I figure there are tons of pro wrestling fans, and casual MMA fans, who probably still don’t even know 5 of these guys and are just paying to see Brock.
I hate Fedor fans. Then again, I hate most people. But especially Fedor fans.
This card is looking nice, but UFC 108 looked nice at first too. Hopefully everyone stays healthy and this show goes off without a hitch.

How dare you invoked the name of that cursed card (that ended up kicking ass anyway)

Hmmmm…. I’m also a bit surprised that Sanchez is staying at Welterweight.

Yeah wasn’t that posted on here a few weeks back or so, that Diego was moving back to lightweight?

i think so....
Not to mention Dana White post fight, Rogan & Goldy during the fight in so many words criticized Sanchez for the jump in weight and his conditioning….
I dunno, maybe he’s going to give WW another shot or two.
Wasn’t it also reported that he changed camps in Arizona?

From what I have heard and remember seeing, the blow that KOed Duffee was not on the chin, but either behind the ear or on the temple. There are gifs all over the place of that KO, so any one of those should show where Duffee was hit.

This is enough for two cards

If the card still reads like that on fight night...
That PPV will break 2 million.
"Daydreams of a 'fair' world which would treat him according to his 'real worth' are the refuge of all those plagued by a lack of self-knowledge." -- Ludwig von Mises.
I think this current card would hit around 1.7 mil
But if they heavily promote Jake Shields and Tito can still pull in a few buys then 2 mil is possible.
The Dos Equis guy wishes he was Brock Lesnar.
If Tito is still on the card by the last week
before fight night, with all his trash talking? 2 mil is lowballing it.
"Daydreams of a 'fair' world which would treat him according to his 'real worth' are the refuge of all those plagued by a lack of self-knowledge." -- Ludwig von Mises.
Speaking of Tito and Trash Talk...
Has anyone heard if he ha started wih Hamill? Hamill is a pretty good guy and I would think a hard target for Tito’s normal style of in your face talk.
He put out a video of him signing the contract.
He says he won’t be doing his normal trash talk routine because he likes Hamill but business is business and he’ll be caving his face in come fight night.
Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.
Tito was his coach on TUF too...
And are still friends to some extent, I believe. But never underestimate the antics Tito is capable of.
I hate Fedor fans. Then again, I hate most people. But especially Fedor fans.
Hahaha.
No way does this shit hit that number. They did 1.6 with a Brock-Mir rematch that everyone was dying to see. Not to mention Georges St. Pierre defending his title. Also, with the most promotion ever done by the UFC. If 100 only did 1.6 then there is no fucking way this card does 2 million buys.
I bet it hits 1.3 at best. And that’s really high and I doubt it does that. My personal prediction sits right at 1 million. Cain Velasquez is not a draw. Tito Ortiz is not much of a draw anymore. Jake Shields isn’t a draw either. Not yet at least. This card looks amazing and should be amazing but it’s not doing that high of a number.
Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.
Shane Carwin is not a draw
Yet they promoted the crap out of that fight and it did 1.2 mil if I recall for a relatively weak card based on name value.
I really believe the UFC will target this card towards the Hispanic population, a market they have never really attacked, and having Tito, Diego, and Cain on the same card definitely makes you think that’s what they’re trying to do.
The Dos Equis guy wishes he was Brock Lesnar.
Not even relatively weak
Extremely weak. The 2nd biggest “name” on the card was Chris Leben. Lesnar has proven he’s good for a million plus by himself as long as he’s got the title. Put a stronger card around him, and I’d have to imagine the numbers go up by a fair amount.
Brock just did 1.2 mil against Carwin with a nothing undercard. Tito’s still a draw. I’m guessing this does in the 1.4-1.5 range.
http://www.instrength.com
I would accept that
more than saying that it hits 2 million. I just feel like there is no way this card outperforms 100. They won’t be doing nearly as much promotion for it.
Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.
Brock almost guarantees a million by himself
Add in the Titoistas, Shields fans and anyone that appreciates the awesomeness of this card and you could be at 100-ish numbers.
2 million is probably optimistic and will require both Brock and GSP defending on the same card.

Well, Tito might still draw a crowd but not much. Not against Matt Hamill. A guy who hasn’t won in almost 5 years isn’t going to draw that much. The shit talk only works if you are winning.
Shields fans account for about 75 people so yeah, that won’t help much. It will do good numbers but not near UFC 100 numbers.
Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.
Promoting Jake Shields is irrelevant
he ain’t bringing in any more buys then what they already woud’ve gotten.
"The Wu is too slamming for these Cold Killing labels
Some ain't had hits since I seen Aunt Mabel
Be doing artists in like Cain did Abel
Now they money's gettin stuck to the gum under the table"
Will the line for Cain go up as we get closer to the event?
It seems to me that Brock draws a lot of fans I’m wondering if people will be betting heavily on Lesnar making it worth the wait to put money on Cain.
I’m no expert, but by logic, most casual gamblers bet on fights the day of, or day before. And most casual fans would be picking Brock obviously, some may not even know who Cain is… So I would think Cain’s odds would become more profitable closer to the fight…
I hate Fedor fans. Then again, I hate most people. But especially Fedor fans.
Oh, and I’m staying the hell away from betting on that match-up…or any of Brock’s fights now after that last crazy ass fight of his. I’m still pissed my hotel didn’t have lines for Diabate for UFC 114, or I would have been rich…At least for that night…
I hate Fedor fans. Then again, I hate most people. But especially Fedor fans.
I am not sure if
I am succumbing to the hype or if it’s actually the case, but Cain is more and more starting to seem to me like someone who could defeat Brock. If I were going to bet, I’d bet on Brock. But if Cain wins, I won’t be stunned.

Tito is going to make a shitload off this PPV, mostly due to the presence of Lesnar. Pulling out of that Liddell fight worked out pretty nicely for him
I don't think that was a judgment call
I buy that Tito was legitimately in need of surgery, feeling symptoms of real problems and unable to properly train for that fight.
I also buy that he knew before he told anyone and milked the show for all it was worth.

He took the TUF show knowing he'd need to pull out though methinks.
He was already talking about his neck problems before the show started taping IIRC.

danas gunning for the ppv record here
We have a saying back home that if your coming on, COME ON!!!!
potentially
ufc 100 gained a bunch of new fans who have been buying ppvs since then, it could be up there
We have a saying back home that if your coming on, COME ON!!!!
No, way.
The card is not as big as 100. GSP and Lesnar on the same card by itself beats out this card.
Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.
Do you switch off?
Like, not insulting , but that seems to be all you care about discussing – UFC 100’s PPV merits.
And then God created Saturn... and he liked it, so he put a ring on it.

117 set the bar.
But, i didn’t believe that it would going in.

Many props to Paulo Thiago
He has never been intentionally given a difficult fight…
UFC 95 – Josh Koscheck
UFC 100 – Jon Fitch
UFC 106 – Jacob Volkmann (was supposed to be Thiago Alves)
UFC 109 – Mike Swick (was supposed to be Josh Koscheck)
UFC 115 – Martin Kampmann
UFC 120 – Diego Sanchez
Koscheck is fighting for the title, Fitch had fought for the title and is still contending, Volkmann is at 155, Swick fought Hardy for the right to lose to GSP, Kampmann is fighting Shields for the next title shot, and Sanchez was given a lightweight title shot before returning to welterweight.
That is about as tough as it gets and Thiago taking 3 out of 5 is very impressive.
The Dos Equis guy wishes he was Brock Lesnar.
Do you think he'll be the favorite vs. Sanchez?
I think Diego will try to fight a carbon copy of the Kampmann approach of stick and move.
Do you think he has the punching power to keep Thiago at bay the way Kampmann did?
Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?
George Carlin
Sanchez will probably be a slight favorite
But I think Kampmann is also a better WW than Diego and won’t be able to fight the way Kampmann did.
The Dos Equis guy wishes he was Brock Lesnar.
after his last embarrassing loss, no wai.
Thiago will be the favorite, no doubt about it.
Did we
really need to see that pic twice on one page…..my eyes…..MY EYES!!!
Sorry, had to do it...
Came across it and ROFL’d.
All I have to say is
It’s going to be a hell of a bday party for me.

Even if Tito loses, he still wins....
Tito is one of the top % of ppv revenue. He gets a higher percentage that anyone besides Randy.
He probably only took the fight to get the Lesnar PPV numbers.
Brock is getting Tito paid….
I think it has the makings for a good fight
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.

You're not excited for more than two fights at UFC 117?
