I have a strange feeling that the preliminary card is going to be epic
But 3-4 of the main card fights go the distance and we won’t be able to see any of the prelims.
Spencer Fisher has lost 2 in a row, and his “win” against Caol Uno was not only boring, but I thought Uno won the fight…..and yet he’s on the main card. I’d have put Patrick/Wilks ahead of Fisher/Warburton.
The Dos Equis guy wishes he was Brock Lesnar.
This isn't the official bout order, just an educated guess.
The UFC has only announced the top three fights, so the main card and prelims haven’t been sorted out yet. Personally, I’d expect to see Wilks/Patrick on the main card and not Fisher/Warburton.
I think Kongo/Browne will be on the main card like the guess had
And that could be entertaining provided Kongo doesn’t fool himself into thinking he can wrestle and grapple his way to victory.
That 5th fight is very tricky. Personally I’d like Wilks/Patrick or Diabate/Gustafsson on there ahead of Fisher/Warburton but only time will tell I guess.
The Dos Equis guy wishes he was Brock Lesnar.
I'm hoping for a Diabate KO shown on tape delay at the end if it doesn't make the main card.
Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?

I hope it makes the main card
Looking forward to that fight .
kurt is on the main card? sweet.

just being honest
This is a boring card. If it were local I would have no interest at all in attending this event. Lucky for me anaheim is nearby cause that card is loaded.

I think the main and co-main will be very entertaining.
Somewhat O/T but the Germany UFC 122 card is scheduled for November 13th and 123 is scheduled for the 20th (with Machida/Rampage)…..I wonder if they’ll make 122 a freebie because I really don’t think Dana would test the market and sell 2 PPVs in 2 weeks.
The Dos Equis guy wishes he was Brock Lesnar.
Who do you got as the possible upset out of the first 3 fights?
I got Hardy-Condit.

I got Condit beating Hardy
But I’m more confident in Sexyama winning against Bisping than Condit beating Hardy.
Hathaway is going to throw Pyle around the cage.
The Dos Equis guy wishes he was Brock Lesnar.
I think Condit is a sure thing.
Bisping is one of those guys who can surprise you, but I agree with you— I don’t put too much confidence into him winning ANY fight.
Hathaway will beat Pyle.

Of course it is boring to you.
You live in California and don’t give a shit about the UK fighters. The casual ticket buying public in the UK does not share your opinion.
Really?
There’s been plenty of Brits on this board that have voiced their dispeasure in this card and the disappointment in a lot of British fans minds that they don’t get many big names on these cards.
"The Wu is too slamming for these Cold Killing labels
Some ain't had hits since I seen Aunt Mabel
Be doing artists in like Cain did Abel
Now they money's gettin stuck to the gum under the table"
Once again, Brits who spend the time and effort to post on this board are no more ‘typical casual fans’ than you are a ‘typical casual fan’. By definition, everyone who posts here has a different take on the sport than the average Affliction wearing douchebag who can’t name more than a half-dozen fighters but orders every PPV and boos every time a fight hits the ground.
I wasn’t trying to call anyone a casual, I was merely bringing up that the British posters on this board are pointing out that British fans in general are for the most part dissapointed in the lack of star power in the cards they get. It’s the fact that the UFC assumes that if you get a couple of middle of the road fighters that happen to be from the U.K. then the people won’t really care, but the point is that they do care and would like a little more high profile fighters on the cards regardless of where they come from.

British posters on this board are, by definition, not casual MMA fans

For crying out loud
If one more of you sons a bitches says I called British posters on this board casuals! I’m saying that they are saying that others in the U.K. are displeased with these cards and their lack of star power, whether they’re casuals or not. And really if they are casuals then it should really take bigger names to get them interested. Like casual British fans sit around saying “I don’t know who this dude is, BUT HE COMES FROM WHERE WE COME FROM, let’s go!” as opposed to being excited about seeing a BJ Penn, or a Rampage Jackson. They were saying that you can’t just put a Michael Bisping on the top of the card and expect that to be enough. Those British dudes I was referring to even brought up how lousy the sales for certain cards turn out, cause they barely got anybody worth mentioning on ’em.
2010 Summer of the Side Boob.
Agreed
I’ve seen numerous Brits on here say the same thing and being British myself I feel the same way. The flipside of the coin is that MMA isn’t overly popular over here and we don’t get the chance to attend live UFC events regularly. Yes it’s enjoyable to cheer on homegrown fighters and it always creates a great atmosphere but when you add up the ticket price, travel and accomodation should you not live in London, it ends up being very expensive considering you haven’t got that one “big fight”. Stick something like page/machida on there and the UK fans would go nuts for it. As for bisping being the main event, you’ll find alot of uk fans that will cheer him on but fully understand why Americans and others find him annoying. He certainly isn’t worshipped over here and you only have to look at the q&a that was up on ufc.com not long ago to see why alot of fans far prefer him.

fight night quality card. Headliners are a pair of top15 MWs followed by top 15 WWs. Should be good fights, glad I’m not being asked to pay for this tho, because I wouldn’t.

Hathaway/Kim I thought would've been a huge fight
Particularly for Hathaway.
Now this card has no meaningful contender bouts. Hardy/Condit maybe but that’s about it.

what’s in a name, really? what’s difference does it make if it’s a Fight Night or a numbered UFC if it’s free either way? nothing. just the name.

exactly what I wanted to say – why are these dudes employed? I have no idea.
McSweeney only took this fight because James Te Huna pulled out.

I would definatley put $ on that line.
If Akiyama lands a shot on Bisping like the one he landed on Leben, it’s good night Irene.

has dana ever spoke to why the uk/spike shows are always on tape delay and never shown live?
i almost want it to be on ppv so i can catch it live like the other no usa shows on ppv and not be temped by spoilers.

Because they realize airing it live at 3 PM ET is ratings suicide
Compared to a storm of college football.
The Dos Equis guy wishes he was Brock Lesnar.
I never considered that until now, I think you just hit the nail on the head.
I hate Fedor fans. Then again, I hate most people. But especially Fedor fans.
That said, I'd like to see the contract
Because you could easily air it live coast-to-coast and then replay it at 8 PM.
There’s also the aspect of how they broadcast it like a PPV to other countries. There have been a few situations where the overseas countries got a prelim fight that didn’t air in the US.
UFC 89 we had no prelims but the UK got to see Carwin vs. Wain. UFC 95 they saw Kelly/Mandaloniz but we didn’t.
The Dos Equis guy wishes he was Brock Lesnar.
In other words it'd probably be tricky as hell to stuff all those commercials in
On a live broadcast which is not supposed to have the pacing of a Fight Night.
The Dos Equis guy wishes he was Brock Lesnar.
Ahhh… yeah, sounds like too much of a mess for them to deal with, with not enough reward. Well, you’re just full of insight today.

Thanks….I think there’s a full moon tonight.

Usually when they are on ppv they are shown both live and in the evening but when they are on free tv it’s pointless for Spike to show it early in the day because the ratings are poor.

sure the ratings will be shit but they can always replay it at 10.

Just a thought...
I like the Bisping-Akiyama matchup, but i don’t know about having it as the main event. I feel like the Hardy-Condit fight is more of a potential contender match. And i know some will say that Bisping is a better draw, but is he really compared to Dan Hardy who just recently went 5 rounds with GSP and was featured on a Primetime special. I don’t know why it’s bothering me so much. I guess it’s because Akiyama is coming off a loss and that matchup doesn’t feel like its carrying any weight. What do yall think?
by SteveXtreme on Jul 25, 2010 4:42 PM EDT reply actions
Bisping-Akiyama has more name value than Hardy-Condit, simple as that.

I hope Diabate/Gustaffson makes it to the tv part of the show.
This is the fight I am most excited about on this card.
Ditto.. being Swedish, it’s hard not to. Going to be fireworks for sure! Other than that, the card is kind of mehh.. main and co-main are somewhat interesting, the rest I could live without.

I’m digging Akiyama at plus money. Dude’s a better, more powerful striker than Bisping, and a better grappler. Gassing out after a year on the shelf against a guy as durable as Leben isn’t a good indicator of how he’s going to do against Bisping. He lands those same shots he landed on Leben on Bisping’s chin, and Bisping is getting flat lined.

This is true. Akiyama is also the best striker Bisping as ever faced. If Dan Henderson can just run after the man and get a shot lined up on his chin, I’m sure Akiyama can get something lined up. Push comes to shove, he can always work a top control game.

Bisping also isn't the greatest at striking defense
Before the Miller fight he was dropped in 3 straight fights (Hendo, Kang, Wandy).
The Dos Equis guy wishes he was Brock Lesnar.
I agree
Bisping isn’t the greatest at it, but Leben is one of the easiest guys to hit in the sport. There is a massive difference between consistently landing clean on Chris Leben and consistently landing clean on a guy with decent (but not great) defense.
Leben also has the better chin.

This is true, but Akiyama has some of the best boxing in MMA. Just look at the combos he laced on Belcher or how he straight destroyed Denis Kang (who’s a decent boxer in his own right). He should be able to put hands all over Bisping, assuming Bisping isn’t just running away the whole night (which he is apt to do against anyone with a bit of pop in their hands). If Bisping is in full retreat mode, Akiyama will probably just tie him up and take him down.

yeah i hope bisping doesnt dance around the ring
My guess is he might actually engage and try ktfo akiyama

Hardy v Condit should be fun...
Carlos takes damage well, but has a better than average ground game.
I like Fedor, it’s just his fans that are intolerable...and his management.
It wouldn’t suprise me if they signed another European fighter to match him with. I’m very excited to see him in the UFC but I think he’s a little too green still, Perhaps the WEC would have been better. Hopefully wee see a Sassangle™ anyway
