Is there even a name for the 115 pound division?

I think it’s strawweight.

Yeah, if North America ever adopts it, I think it’ll be strawweight or pinweight. In Shooto, it’s flyweight.

Strawweight = 115
Minimumweight = 105
Pinweight = 100

I’m definitely sure on the first at least. The latter two are boxing terms, although there have been divisions in the past in female MMA in Japan at 48 kgs (106 lbs.) and 45 kgs (99 lbs.).

Anyway, North American state athletic commissions really ought to start adding Strawweight as an official weight class.

Based on Tony’s written description of the fight, I thought Abe had come much closer with the armbar and I had the impression that Rambaa dodged a bullet by getting the injury stoppage. He did get taken down and worked, but he landed a lot of shots too. Good fight.

Exactly my thoughts also. Based on the Sherdog’s play-by-play I expected the armbar-attempt to have been more dangerous.

Rambaa as generous as always with hugs and kisses.

Everytime champion!

I wish there was an uncomplicated way to experience Shooto in my living room.

As much as I love M-16, this was a less-than-impressive win for him, and I think a rematch would be appropriate here.

What on Earth kind of armbar was Abe going for from the mount?
